Transition Instructions

Some pets may have sensitive stomachs and could potentially experience digestive upset from a sudden diet change. Because of this, we recommend making a gradual transition between foods. Begin with 25% of the recommended daily portion of the new food mixed with 75% of the recommended daily portion of the previous diet. Feed this blend for 2-3 days and then change the mix to 50% of each for 2-3 days. Then feed 75% of the recommended daily portion of the new food with 25% of the recommended daily portion of the previous diet for a final 2-3 days before fully switching.

  • For sensitive dogs, extend the period to 10 to 14 days.

Did not result in weight loss

    By on

While waiting for my vet-prescribed dog food for my overweight dog, I purchased this dog food due to its low calories and no chicken in its ingredients (my dog is allergic to chicken). Although my dog ate the food, she did not lose weight in the three weeks that I fed it to her. Additionally, she had less energy (which I attribute to the lower percentage of protein in the food) and she had allergy symptoms (which indicates that the food does contain chicken). I immediately stopped feeding it to her when I received the vet prescription dog food. I am hoping the local animal shelter will accept the nearly full bag that I have left!

    Love this food

    By on

I have a cocker spaniel that went through a year of vet trips for chronic diarrhea. Test after test, switching foods, freaking out, the vet recommended a prescription digestive diet that cost over $100 per bag. I personally cant afford that. Doing a massive amount of research I came across this food which is basically the same across the board to the prescription food as far as protein, fat and calories. Hes been on this for roughly 2 months and it's all but healed him. He has had 2 bad bowel movements in that time, probably from stress because we moved. I would recommend this to anyone who is having dog issues with digestive issues such as colitis, ibs, ibd, pancreatitis.. anything along those I have a cocker spaniel that went through a year of vet trips for chronic diarrhea. Picky eater likes it

    By on

I have a senior male maltese who needs to lose a couple pounds. He can be picky when it comes to dry food. I noticed on this particular brand that lamb was the first ingredient when most brands name chicken. I noticed also that this brand has omega-3.There is a slight "fish oil" smell when you open the bag but it is not bad. The important thing is that my dog enjoys eating it.

    Warning, it smells awful.

    By on

It smells absolutely awful, but my Schnauzers like it and seem to be losing some weight, so it's working.

    Good Choice

    By on

She has only been on this food for about 2 weeks. She may have lost 2 lbs. But the food is very filling so she is not whining for more food. I have researched other brands and I think so far that this brand is good for dogs carrying the extra pounds and need to lose weight. It may take a little longer than two weeks to see a difference but it's worth a try.

    Weight Management

    By on

My dog is on the heavy side so I bought some new dog food. We've been using it for a few weeks now and I cant see a difference yet but the ingredients are great and my dogs loves the food. It has fewer calories than the other food I was giving her so fingers crossed she'll lose weight!

    Good fat-dog food

    By on

My 9 year-old chocolate lab has always tended towards the heavier side--but she has done SO well since switching her to Diamond Care weight management about a year ago. Only negative I have noticed is that her coat can get a little dry/flaky which I assume may be due to the lower-fat content, but is easily fixed with supplemental fish oil (or oil of your choice).

    Weight Management Dog Food.

    By on

My Wiem was carrying a few extra pounds. I wanted to get her back down where I wanted her to be for weight. She eats the food very well, at feeding time she digs right into the food bowl. She is losing weight on the dog food. When I get her down to the weight I want her to carry, I will just increase the amount of food I feed her, and she should maintain her weight.

    Great Food For Chubby Dogs!

    By on

My dog is allergic to chicken. He is also chunky :-) It is hard to find a weight management food that doesn't have chicken in it... which is why I selected this brand. He likes it a lot.
