When transitioning to a new pet food, do so slowly over a period of about 7-10 days, mixing an increasing amount of new food with old food each day: Start with 75% old food mixed with 25% new food for approximately three days. Then mix 50% old with 50% new for approximately three days.
My dog is allergic to chicken and a friend told me to give the pro89 it has not chicken they would break out in red hives under belly started feeding them his and there red hives have gone away and haven't come back so I haven't switch my 2 girls love it also
I want to start off by saying I'm a bit biased when it comes to dog food. I studied animal nutrition in college before going on to vet school. While my scope of practice is mainly with livestock, I have a high sense of responsibility in feeding my companion animals quality food. When I look for a kibble, I am wanting a complete and balanced ingredient list with words I anyone understand, identifiable protein sources, and all the vitamins and minerals needed. This ingredient list has all that! I don't give in to the social media crazed of "grain free" for dogs (cats, yes), or raw diets, or adding a bunch of expensive food toppers, and/or expensive brands which are sponsored by people's favorite TikTokers. After a great deal of research, I have really put my trust in the Diamond branded pet food series as a company based on output of quality pet foods. I have two Australian Shepherds which are used as cuddle buddies, and as herding animals for my job. This is a fantastic food for the spring/summer months when they are outside and working 4-5 days a week with me. The high concentration of protein and fat allow me to trust that when I feed will give them the energy to make it through the day, and maintain their weight. The best part is, I know that no less than 89% of their protein intake is sourced from mammalian flesh product...the health benefit of this alone is amazing (with the vitamins and minerals fond in red meat). While I do not work with companion animals often, I do have a lot of friends and family ask what to feed their dogs. This is my go-to food for active breeds, This is great for any dog because of the lack of presence of chicken (flesh) as a protein source. Chicken as an ingredient in dog food is inexpensive and used often, but is the most common food allergen for dogs...making this food even more accessible for all types of dogs. Best part of this is, when I finally switched my dogs over to this food, I could tell they enjoyed the taste a whole lot more than what I was previously feeding (and it was in the Diamond Naturals series). The high amount of flesh meat used in this kibble provides a higher attractant to dogs through scent, a key component of dog's desire to want to eat a food. Overall, this is a superior dog food!
Honestly I don’t know what’s going on with this food but truly my dog is having diarrhea for the past 2 weeks and had to take him to the emergency! This is product is horrible and Chewy should not be selling this item! I will not be purchasing this brand of food no more!
Got 2 bags. My 2 year old female Rott got diarrhea after a few days. Figured she will get used to food. Opened bag #2 and now she has bloody diarrhea and throwing up.
I would not recommend this food, one of my dogs refused to eat it and my other dog received diarrhea from it. We threw it out and went back to our old food.
I recently made the switch because my dogs were not enjoying their normal food and were getting sick from cheaper food. After comparing ingredients with higher cost food we decided to try DiamondPro89. Our dogs all enjoy it arms do not have any tummy issues. After over a week of changing to this food we have decided to stay with this food.
Recently my dog has just become bleh to his food, & he loves his food. this last bag we received smelled terrible of a manufacturing warehouse or something of some sort. he has not touched his food and will almost starve himself. i’m kinda upset i wasted my money on this
My dog loves this food and she is so picky! It’s also made her fur shiny and healthy looking! I will definitely be buying again!!
I am very picky about my animals food!! When I read Ancient Grains and the items it has in it, is great! My animals eat Raw and it makes there fur so soft and very Healthy for them
