  • Cheap and Useful

I bought this to get rid of my new pigeon's mite and lice infestations. Daily dustings for 2 weeks seemed to do the trick. Great quality, super fine and useful for getting under her feathers. It doesn't bother her as much as liquid spray treatments, as pigeons are already super dusty, but I could mix it into some water and bathe her with it that way too. I also don't have to worry about her ingesting too much of it while she preens because it's nontoxic to her and not full of chemicals like other treatments. 2 pounds is more than enough for my one bird, it's dirt ;) cheap, and has been more effective than sprays or dips. Be prepared for an absolute MESS when you open it though, it's so hard I bought this to get rid of my new pigeon's mite and lice infestations. Daily dustings for 2 weeks seemed to do the trick. Be prepared for an absolute MESS when you open it though, it's so hard to contain but it's basically dust so I expected as much. The way they seal the bag with thread isn't really ideal either, the box it came in was full of escaped dust when it got to me. Overall, would recommend for other pigeon/chicken/quail owners, it's a great natural alternative to chemicals that is actually nontoxic (unlike many other 'natural' treatments that could potentially harm your pet). … more

  • Didn't Work…

I tried this for various problems. It didn't do anything but make a mess. I powered the carpet and brushed it into the cats fur and still we had fleas. I'd actually say more fleas than we had when we didn't try to go natural. We also put in their food. We stopped because we couldn't tell a difference. The natural method just didn't work for us. Maybe we have to many (we have 19). I now have half a bag just sitting in my pantry.

I bought this because of carpet beetles and with my 2 cats, I didn't want to endanger them. It came promptly and packaged well. I bought way more than I needed (20lbs) but it may be good to have for later. I sprinkled it all over my apartment, which is all carpeted except for the kitchen and bathroom. I was not realizing how dusty it would be! My poor black cat was gray! LOL But so far, I guess about 2 weeks in, its helping. I dont see the carpet beetles hardly anymore. There is still a stray one here and there when my cats drop their treats around, but for the most part, they are not around. They were mostly in the living area - I guess coming in from the screen door to the balcony and some I bought this because of carpet beetles and with my 2 cats, I didn't want to endanger them. I am fine. The dust is a little annoying but better than bugs. I'd recommend this as a safe deterrent to bugs. Just be prepared for the dust if you are using it for the same purpose that I did. But I'm glad that I found something safe that appears to be helping. I'm getting my apartment back slowly. Hopefully, they will all die out over time. … more

  • 100% Turnaround

Started mixing 1 tbsp DE with 1 tbsp coconut oil and 1 scoop of the Norwegian kelp in with my 80lb labs dinner. 1 week ago... after 2 days I could already see he was feeling better. He had been itching relentlessly with no signs of fleas or other bugs. I had shaved him bathed him brushed him and he could not get any relief. His skin and hair would be thick and oily and smelly the next day. I read that he may have an internal parasite so I started this regimen and now he's back to himself nice shiny coat is growing back in and the bare patches where he scratched it off is also coming back in. And the flakes are all but gone! He's happy again and so are his parents ! • So much you can do!

I first learned about DE in animal rescue. Using it in their food to help cleanse from the inside out. Finding out humans can use for the same purpose as well is a bonus. PLUS add in that it helps if you have an ant problem or issues with insects in your garden - you've scored big time!

  • It's good.

After months of the exterminator our apartment management had treating for roaches, I decided that I'd take things into my own hands. I sprinkled DE in places I've seen roaches, with no worry for Sophie because it's food grade. After 2 wks, I can already see improvement.

  • Cats like it

It is impossible to judge effectiveness in carpets, where it is more a long-term approach to infestation. In bedding, DE seems to help. Although my cats object to my applying DE to their fur, they love the feel and relief it provides against fleas and itching. Avoid breathing when applying.

My furbabies have been using diatomaceous earth food grade for almost 3 weeks and I can see the change drastically! All three have way more of a appetite! Their fur is getting so much shinier. And NO fleas!!! I've Been sprinkling DE around the yard, giving them a tablespoon in there food daily and directly to there fur and combing it thru. This has definitely changed our lives in a wonderful way. Thanks so much chewy! From blue razor Dixie'Ann and us the parents.

  • The best!!

I will never use anything else to treat internal worms or fleas, etc!!! It is completely natural! No chemicals or man-made anything. It's the best thing you could do for your fur babies.
