Frequently Asked Questions

Do dogs & cats like the taste of FiRM UP? I have picky eaters.

Most pets LOVE the taste of our supplements.  There are some dogs & cats that will initially turn their snout up at the products,   but we encourage our customers to be persistent with the products as you are feeding your pet a supplement to help a condition or issue and you want to do what you can to get the products into the diet.  We encourage mixing the product into the food with a little bit of water.

Do I have to add water to FiRM UP and FiRM UP + cranberry?

Nope!  That is the beauty of FiRM UP!  It's mobile and easy.  The dogs/cats like it a little more and it's a little easier to eat (not as dry) when it is mixed with water... but the only side effect of feeding it dry is a condition we call "orange beard". ? My dog got into the pantry and ate an entire bag of FiRM UP!  Should I be concerned?  Should I seek vet care?

Our dogs have done this so many times without issue!!  FIRM UP is like candy to them!   With that said... it's not a bad idea to check in with your Vet if your dog has "racoooned" your bag of FIRM UP!.  We literally have a lock on our pantry now because of this!

I just received your firm up product and thought it smelled really nice when opening the package.  I haven't tried it on my dogs yet,  but I wondered why it's not available for humans?  It might be great replacement for other fiber sources such as psyllium?

Thank you!  We get this question a lot.  Although we use 100% Human Grade top notch ingredients, we license our products to sell in the pet industry, not the human supplement industry.

How many times a day should I feed your supplements?

All of our products are to be fed once a day or in 1 meal of the day with the exception of Urinary Berry... it is to be fed twice per day.

FiRM UP feeding instructions.  I am unclear on how much product and water to mix?

You will mix equal amounts of product and water.  So let's say you have a 20 lb dog.  Your would mix 1 - 2 tsp of product and 1 - 2 tsp of water.  The amounts are on the back of the packaging for reference.

How much cranberry is in FiRM UP Cranberry?

There is approx. 250mg of nutraceutical grade cranberry in each tbs. of FiRM UP! + Cranberry.

My dog/cat gets UTI's regularly.  Will FiRM UP Cranberry work?

FiRM UP! + Cranberry has the added benefit of cranberry (PAC's to fight infection and antioxidants).  There is enough cranberry in most cases to help maintain a healthy bladder and urinary tract however, if your dog/cat is prone to chronic UTI's, our Super Snout Urinary Berry supplement is a better choice.  Always consult with your Veterinarian before feeding any supplements to your dog/cat/

Can your supplements be given to any age dog/cat?

First,  always consult with your Veterinarian prior to feeding any food supplement....Ours or anyone else's!  Our products are pure, whole foods from nature... so there should not be any problems with the age of the dog/cat.  Please note though that puppies/kittens under the age of 12 weeks and pregnant/nursing mothers should be monitored more closely.

Your company name is Diggin' Your Dog and Super Snouts...are your supplements good for cats too?

Definitely!  Our products work excellent on cats! There is a dosage on every product for cats/cat weights.

Do your supplements require refrigeration after opening?

NEVER!  Use what you need when you need it and put the rest back in the cupboard/pantry! Our products are 100% shelf stable and ZERO WASTE products. ? Are your supplements gluten free/gmo free/pesticide free?

Yes... all of the above.

Where do you source your ingredients?

All Diggin' Your Dog products are 100% sourced in the USA.  From the ground to the bag they come from domestic sources.  Our Super Snouts brand has some ingredients that are selectively sourced outside of the USA... For Example: Green Lipped Mussel from New Zealand... the only place on earth to source it.  Egyptian Fennel (in Our GI Balance) is THE BEST fennel for gas.  The USA is really good at a lot of products... but we aren't the best at absolutely everything!

Do you source anything from China?

No, Nothing.

Where are the products manufactured and /or packaged?

Our treats are handcrafted / hand - packed for us by our partner in California.  All of our other products/supplements are formulated, handcrafted and hand - packed in our facility in Reno, NV.  We like to use to people, not machines to make our products.

How does FiRM UP work?

FIRM UP supports stool consistency and regularity in dogs and cats.  It does this through the fiber in the Whole Pumpkin and Apple Fiber.  It works great when switching foods or when GI upset occurs unexpectedly.  It works for both diarrhea and constipation.  How?  Diarrhea is a LACK of water absorption the colon and lower bowel. Fiber (FIRM UP) directly aids in forming solid stool by slowing down digestion and the passage of waste, giving the body more time to naturally absorb water.

On the other paw,  Constipation is TOO MUCH water reabsorbing into the body due to the slow passage of waste matter through the colon.  The result is dry and difficult to pass stools. Fiber (FIRM UP) will keep some of this water from being re - absorbed by the colon, giving the colon the fluids needed for hard to pass stools.

  • Works great and dog loves it

I'm so glad I tried this product. My youngest dog has had trouble with soft stools no matter what foods I've tried. A couple months ago I first got this product as well as a probiotic or her. I tried both products individually as well as together, and discovered the probiotic made no difference. But the Firm Up Pumpkin truly works! She's a 55 lb mixed breed and I give her 3-4 TB per day stirred into her dampened kibble. She's a picky eater, but since I added this to her food, she eats her meals with enthusiasm. Works great and is economical (a small bag lasts us about 3 weeks). Highly recommend.

  • It Really Works!

After bringing in a young malnourished rescued cat who was thrown into a neighborhood at just a few months old, Addison's digestion was damaged from lack of nutrition in the critical kitten stages. I've been trying to turn him around for 7 months with little progress. On yet another attempt to help him, I found Firm Up. Amazingly, after just one dose he didn't have a loose litter box! I had tried canned pumpkin, but it seemed to make things worse. This has apple pectin added and obviously the combination is key. This is one great product! A little goes a long way, so its very affordable too.

I had been giving this to my 3 month old kitten because he was pooping yellow pudding like stools. It worked like charm and he seems healthier and happier and has not had a problem since. BUT THEN my aunt, who was in distress because her older cat Ziggy was slowley deteriorating, told me that a doctor put the cat on prednisone (spelling? not sure) for feline irritable bowel syndrome. Now...I am not a vet but I try very hard to do things the natural way and her cat was skin and bones from throwing up and diarrea after he started the medicine. The vet did not seem to know what else to do. I told her to stop that stuff and try this firm up and see if it helps! Within ONE DAY he was moving solid stools and by the end of the first week he was enthusiatic and playing again and doing normal poops! I can not say for sure if it was this but I can say that since he has been eating it he is no longer on the brink of death. This stuff is great, and we are thankful to have found it. a little side note, pumpkin seeds are used in humans to naturally treat and remove parasites. I have to assume this MIGHT also help to keep animals free of them the same way -Again I can not say for sure but nature does provide and so if it is an added benefit then great! … more

  • Great product!

I started mixing this into the dry food for our three indoor cats because one of our 6-year-old males has chronic loose stool. They take it just fine this way and our boy is already seeing an improvement in regularity. No more diarrhea. No more frequent trips to litter box for bowel movements. I am definitely keeping this on my auto reship.

  • love it (use occasionally)

my girl has a sensitive stomach. she wont eat the canned pumpkin unless thouroughly mixed in food but will eat this. a tip if dog had canned than this...i used chicken broth for first time. since then she eats it fine. when she has loose stool I give my 10lb dog a ts plus ts water by itself as a meal to settle stomach. worked faster for her than the canned pumpkin. i also like that it is dried. i dont have to worry about having a can on hand each time. esp when she gets a teaspoon per day when needed.

  • Works great and my dog loves it

My dog was on antibiotics for a few days after getting a broken tooth repaired and having his teeth cleaned. The antibiotics gave him chronic diarrhea. I tried probiotics for a week to replace the good bacteria the antibiotics wiped out (Benebac Plus gel, also sold by Chewy), and saw some improvement in his stools, but not enough. I was going to try canned pumpkin, but then I came across this product. My dog loves it and will happily eat it as is (without mixing with water or food). After giving it to him for a couple of days, I saw considerable improvement in his stools. I am still giving him the probiotics, because they do seem to be helping some, but this seems to work better.

  • Ibd cat with diarrhea

    By on

I tried this for my IBD kitty because the vet suggested pumpkin to firm up his stool. He doesn't really like it so the only way he'll eat it is if it's mixed with wet food , which I don't want to give him a lot if because of the already "wet " stool. I haven't noticed any difference in his diarrhea, but I'm still trying.

  • Best stuff ever

    By on

I have a 7 yr old Boxer mix with stomach issues. I've recently switched her food after trying different approaches to her diet and this stuff is really helping her with her stool. It's gotten much firmer. It had been very, very soft for quite awhile. I tried regular canned pumpkin, but all that did was give her gas, didn't help with her stool at all. After reading the reviews, I decided to give this a try. I'm glad I did! Works like a charm and my dog loves it! I even recommended it to a friend for her dog and it worked well for her dog also. I HIGHLY recommend this product!

My poodle mix has always had soft stools when changing his diet, no matter how slow the process. I add between a hefty pinch and a tsp to each bowl now and no more tummy problems!

  • does what it says

I adopted a chug from a local shelter who had to be treated for tapeworms. For about a week or so he battled diarrhea and loose stool. Pumpkin, sweet potato, not too much was working. 2 days of sprinkling this on his food and viola! This works great for med side effects and such. I didn't wet it or anything just sprinkled on his food and he ate it right up.
