Help your pup to feel his best by learning what his ideal nutrition regime looks like in The Dog Diet Answer Book: The Complete Nutrition Guide to Help Your Dog Live a Happier, Healthier, and Longer Life. If you’ve found that your pooch is continuously fighting off ear infections, plagued by skin or tummy issues, or just can’t seem to keep the extra pounds off, it could be his diet that’s to blame.
The Dog Diet Answer Book will help you to better understand your fur baby’s dietary needs and help you to discover if addressing some of the health problems that he’s been having is as simple as changing the type of food that he’s eating, how many calories he’s consuming, or adding a bit more moisture to his fare. You’ll be able to make an educated choice in what food you give to your four-legged family member and even learn how to make home-cooked treats and meals for him, if you find that a commercial diet doesn’t quite fit into the plan of what’s best for his health and happiness.
About the AuthorGreg Martinez has been a practicing veterinarian in California for more than 30 years and has helped many of his patients address chronic health issues by making a change in their diet. Over the years, Dr. Martinez has discovered that many canine physical problems that can't seem to be helped with medication have resolved themselves with the introduction of better feeding practices, and he's shared this breakthrough with the world in his self-published dietary guides, Dog Dish Diet and Feed Your Pet to Avoid the Vet, teaching pet parents the feeding techniques that will help their furry children avoid food-induced medical concerns.

Good Introductory Book
By VitosMom on May 26, 2020 Top 1000 Contributor
This book has some good basic information on diets and nutrition. There are recipes, calculators, and some very useful tools to find proper body composition and calorie estimates. The author jumps around a little bit, there are typos, and he uses many pages to say something that could be said in a paragraph. Overall, the book is a good addition to my collection and has value for someone who is just starting on their dog diet journey.

Useful information
By Kris on Jun 2, 2019 Top 1000 Contributor
I liked this book because it was relatively unbiased-it doesn’t say you have to feed kibble or you have to feed home cooked or you have to feed raw. It does tell you how to read and interpret commercial dog food labels (though it could do a better job on explaining how to calculate nutritional percentages on a dry matter basis-I found a better article on that in a dog magazine), and it does provide a few recipes for home cooked dog food. It explains what some common dog food ingredients are and why they’re used. What I like the most about this book is that it does a very good job at explaining how to tell if your dog is overweight or at an ideal weight, and exactly how to calculate how much weight I liked this book because it was relatively unbiased-it doesn’t say you have to feed kibble or you have to feed home cooked or you have to feed raw.
