Rated 4 out of 5 by SophieG Great, but the smell, wow ("Pacifica" formula)
This review is for the "Pacifica" formula.
I've had nothing but good experiences with Acana formulas for my 11 mo. old lab/pit mix. This formula is no exception and I'm still very happy with the quality and how easy it is on his digestion. However, this is the first formula that makes my entire kitchen stink like I opened a giant bag of tuna - and it lingers. I have to break out the Febreeze or else I just can't stand it - since the weather is so warm, opening up a window or door only lets in the heat and the flies.
I can tell my pup doesn't find it as appetizing either as he has suddenly become finicky about finishing his food in one sitting - he gobbles up every other Acana recipe we've tried. He'll still eat it because I don't let him graze - he eats what's in his bowl in the time he's given or he loses it. This is the first time that he's skipped his breakfast so many consecutive days in a row - 3 and counting.
I say, if this formula works for your pup and you're ok with the smell, it's a great product - no doubt about it. But it's not for us. Looking forward to trying their Wild Atlantic formula next - hopefully it's less stinky as I don't believe it contains any salmon - which is a particularly "fishy" fish and might be where the smell comes from.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mienaweis My Boxers LOVE IT
I've been giving my 2 boxers this food for a little while now. We switched over from another leading brand, and I've found that they are digesting the ACANA food much better (MUCH LESS BOXER FARTS).
I was worried about the smell of the food after reading some of the reviews, but in reality it's not any different than other dog foods.

Acana is an excellent "entry" food into the land of grain-free.... wherein your pets will have far fewer health difficulties, excellent energy, and healing of such things as skin conditions and allergies.
Acana is made by the same company that makes Orijen, and to me, Orijen is the Cat's Meow. Or, the Dog's Bark. It's the TOP of the TOP.
If you try Acana and like it, you will LOVE ORIJEN. Order some Acana, and read what's on the package. Nothing more is needed. I swear!
If you fear the price-tag (like I did!), please rest in the knowledge that you will be feeding your pets only a FRACTION of the amounts you've fed them of food involving grain. When you feed grain-free, and heart-healthy-fats, which are included, your pet will be satisfied with an amount far less than what you'd feed her with most locally-available foods.
If you sleep with your pets (I sleep with seven!) please know that these healthy grain-free foods eliminate FLATULENCE. Ahh..... there is a Heaven, after all!!

My German shepherd struggled with itchy skin to the point where she would have bald circles around her eyes... Until we switched to Acana Pacifica! This food has worked wonders on our dogs allergies.

by mandapanda Good food but stinky
I really wanted to love this food because it has a good amount of Omega 3/just really good for my dog and my Frenchie loved it so much. But the smell was so bad and made my dogs breath reek. If you do get this food make sure to keep the bag closed or put it in an air tight container because if not the room will smell like something died hahahaha.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LabMom High quality and dogs love it
Acana and Orijen are my go-to brands for the best dog food within our budget....they are still pricey, but so are veterinarian bills for chronic illness caused by feeding animals poor quality foods. I am also impressed with customer service from the company itself, which responded quickly to an inquiry I made a while back as to if any of their ingredients, including supplements, are sourced from China. Happy to report they said no. I have confidence in the brand, and my dogs are thriving on it.
