Rated 5 out of 5 by It's only been 2 weeks but already seeing improvement! Our 12 year old pit/boxer mix has an allergy to dust mites. We have spent thousands on him over the last 7 years. We have tried allergy shots, steroid shots, fish oil, different foods, topicals, and I can't even remember what else. He is always scratching, so much so that he would have big bald spots that were red and sometimes bloody. He'd get blood smears on the wall by rubbing up against it. So gross. My step-mom, who breeds dogs professionally, told us to try this food. I finally did it. It is expensive but so far worth every penny. He is scratching less and his skin is less flaky-and no more bald spots! We will be keeping him on the Acana Ranchlands and can't wait to see how he looks in another few weeks. I just can't believe that changing his food is making a difference in his environmental allergy. It makes me think we should all eat organic/local and cook at home for every meal. Seriously, try it! Also, he WANTS this food! The other day when our first bag had come in I had it sitting on the kitchen counter. I was cooking breakfast at the time and he bypassed the bacon and was whining and trying to get at his new food. He has never done that for any other dog food - even expensive ones. Our whole family was surprised. I went ahead and got some out and he loved it. He is 70 pounds and we give him 2 cups in the morning and 2 in the evening - slightly more than the recommended serving. Again, TRY IT! July 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Outstanding food, outstanding Chewy We bought this for my older dog who had spinal cord demyelination; we thought he'd be with us for another few months but he went downhill suddenly and passed away before it arrived. We called Chewy and spoke with a very caring and kind person who said to donate it to a shelter, which I did, and they would credit my account. Chewy has been so supportive. Plan to purchase it in the future to feed the younger pup, who is now on Free Range Chicken. Acana (and Orijen!) are great food lines. July 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this product So happy offers this brand! One of the best dog food brands out there! July 23, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by DogStar Kitchen in kentucky All food that is bagged needs to be close to where it is stored and shipped from. the new Champion Pet plant in Kentucky is state of the art from the bottom up... many buyers of Champion products did not realize that their plant in Canada had issues... Acana and Orijen are fantastic foods on paper.... with the new facility located near where Chewy ships from it will mean food that arrives as planned. 17.5 lbs of meat in a 25 lb.bag of Appalachian Ranch and half of that is Fresh or Raw...that is reported on their web site... that is very impressive ! Only mineral added is zinc... the food gets its life from fresh ingredients and a vitamin / mineral pre mix does not get or need to be added... many dogs today have issues on kibble that clear up using a homemade or raw diet and one reason is the reaction to all the added vitamin and minerals used in tradition kibble. I opened my first bag today and it really smelled fresh ... will be mixing with prior diet which while digested tremendously has made for yeasty ears... otherwise I like the food. I got an allergy dog, and by looking at the ingredients in this product my paws are crossed it will help with the ear yeast. On paper and the State of the Art Plant that is not co-packing for other brands.... this food looks as good as homemade. June 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Really good food! I am 1/2 way through my 4th 25lb bag of Kentucky Acana. I have Great Danes so it doesn't take long. I really like this food. I did not transition my dogs but introduced it cold turkey from the Canadian Orijen. No digestive upsets at all!! The kinds I've tried are Appalachian Ranch, Grasslands and Wild Atlantic. My dogs love all the varieties I've tried. I really like that this is higher protein than the Canadian Acana. I was skeptical about the Kentucky facility but now I'm a fan. July 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bruno loves this product!!! ❤ my dog has food allergy issues that i had to switch to acana. tried wild prairie but seems like my dog has sensitivity to chicken which made his face turn pinkish so i decided to switch with ranchlands instead. I love this product. Acana overall is the best. my dog never had ear infection or skin issues since we switch to Acana. June 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Appalachian Ranch BEST My dog developed skin allergies as to yeast. And i read online that wheat, grain, potato basically feeds the yeast and skin allergies. So i kept looking for specific type of food and i came up with Acana. Yes expensive but for my lovely Beagle Cooper anything. And he loves beef as to treats but i decided to try the Pacifica fish one and it did not suit him well. Ofcoirse i did the food transitioning but it went bad to not fully enjoying it and the smell sucks. So i decided to exchange it to this meat one and Perfect. Poop is well and normal and skin issues are slowly yes getting there and im very happy. But i know yes they sell it here at chewy but as for store right away fast i get it at petsuppliesplus but i will soon start getting it from here at May 25, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by New formula is very different Just a quick heads up. For those who've been feeding this brand for a long time, the new formula is different - get a small bag first to test. We re-ordered (as per usual) with a big bag - but the dog noticed the difference and we have to slowly reintroduce it. Also, the kibble is a lot smaller - so we have to use a slow bowl. The size maybe better for small dogs - but not for med or bigger (mine is med). May actually have to move to a different brand - have heard from others who had similar experience that dog is not eating it. June 16, 2016
