Rated 1 out of 5 by from BRING WILD PRAIRIE BACK, PLEASE!! My two toy poodles have been enjoying Acana Wild Prairie for the last 6 years. They LOVED it. I was so happy with their food that I told every dog owner I knew about it. 6 people that I told put their dogs on this formula and they all loved it. Now that this company has transitioned from Canada to the USA and changed the formula of the wild prairie to meadowlands my dogs among and all the others I know that had to try the meadowland HATE it. My dogs used to gobble up the wild prairie and now with the new meadowland they were starving themselves because they would not eat it until they were so hungry that they had to. They would go a whole day and not eat until the next morning. I couldn't take it anymore, they were so unhappy. I transitioned them to a completely differant brand. They are now eating well and are happier than ever. Acana, I am so disappointed that you did this. You changed the formula, downsized the amount of food in the bags and upped the price? You have officially lost 6 customers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing quality but kibble size is too large for a small breed puppy I ordered this food because of all the amazing things ive heard about this brandand the high quality ingredients! I read on Chewy.com that this food is for all stages and for all breed sized. My toy poodle puppy is 4 months old and weighs 4.5 pounds. So I thought this food would be appropriate even for my tiny boy. I received the food today and the kibble size turned out to be WAY WAY too large for my toy poodle. He really loved the taste (picky eater) but I could tell he was struggling to chew it up. I would recommend this food for anyone that has a dog larger than 10 pounds. For any very small breed dog, this one might be a bit tough to chew. Still a great quality dog food! Hopefully they will come out with a small kibble version :) I contacted customer service and they gave me a full refund so I will be donating the rest of my bag. Just ordered Orijen puppy formula to try :)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Used to Feed Wild Praire no problem, now dogs are sick. I fed Canadian made Acana Wild Praire for years to my livestock guardian dogs with no problems. Since Champion has moved to Kentucky plant and Meadowlands formula replaced Wild Praire My dogs have been sick. The kibble is so hard and dense I don't think they digest it properly. So no matter how good the ingredients are it is worthless if the dogs don't digest it properly. Champion you need to look at you new facility and make changes to bring back the quality food you used to offer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Acana is the BEST!!! My dog, Ashe, is a 7 1/2 year old miniature schnauzer. She recently suffered from GI issues resulting in loose stools and an urgency to go that resulted in "messes" in my condo on a daily basis. We made several trips to the vet and had multiple tests run. The vet prescribed a diet change and sold me the prescribed food. Ashe did not get any better. After a few more trips to the vet, and an additional few hundred dollars, I was more frustrated than ever. And, Ashe was still suffering from the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Disease--diagnosis from the vet. My son recommended Acana dog food. I made the switch. After a careful process of gradually cutting Acana in with Ashe's usual food, she is now on Acana only, and she is GREAT!!! No more "irritable Bowel Disease" symptoms, and her stools have returned to normal. She no longer exhibits an urgency to go, and life is wonderful again!! Thank you Acana for making a really great product!! By the way, Ashe loves the taste also!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our Boxer loves it. We switched to the Acana a little worried about how our boxer would like it or if he would have loose stools during the transition. Neither worry was warranted. He loves the food and had no transition problems. We were feeding another grain-free food, so the protein contents were similar. Some other reviews made it sound like their dogs couldn't stand this food, but our dog thinks it is like eating a treat, so it must taste good to him and other dogs I'm sure. I was advised by my sister/veterinarian that it is a good practice to switch around between good quality dog foods on a continuous basis to avoid any long term problems from a potential "bad" food. Acana will be part of our rotation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Ingredients We were feeding Earthborn Primitive Natural. It was the best ingredients for the price. It does have potatoes which is nothing but a fattening ingredient but still a very good dog food. We have started the switch. This is excellent ingredients and food. The only one that may be better is Orijen at a much higher price. We have 4 dogs all over 50 pounds. It is expensive but hopefully they will not eat as much and lose a little weight in the process. If you can't afford this brand, I would recommend the Earthborn. But only the Primitive Natural. Let me add that Acana does have a frequent buyer program on Chewy. You just have to ask them about it and let them know when you have purchased 12 bags in a 2 year span. Earthborn also has coupons they send every month and Chewy may have a program for them if you ask. So far the dogs love this food. But they will eat anything. I am feeding the cats Acana also and they will not touch anything else.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring back Wild Prairie Been feed my Black Lab Wild Prairie for some time now....like most anything else I put in his bowl....he vacuumed it up....Labs love their grub! Not this new Meadowland though. Like a lot of folks on here, this change was made for us, as it seems Acana has decided to drop the old formula and, based on my dogs reaction, replaced it with something not nearly as good. I was lucky enough to have ~1/2 a bag of the Wild Prairie left when this new formula arrived so I was able to 'break him in' on this new food. Started with less than a 1/4 cup of the Meadowland added to the Wild Prairie...maybe he ate a little slower than usual, but not too much of an issue. As the ratio of Meadowland increased I noticed him increasingly less interested when I put down his bowl. He still gets super excited when he knows its feeding time....so I know he's looking forward to food. Just not this food it seems. Now I am up to 1/2 Wild Prairie + 1/2 Meadowland....and my Lab...a complete belly boy...walks away after a couple of nibbles at it. Canceling my order for this food and go looking elsewhere. Never had this kind of reaction from him with any food. Very disappointed in Acana.
