The Toy With Built-In Rewards

Busy Buddy interactive toys are made for exactly what the name says—keeping your buddy busy doing the thing he loves to do (chew). These durable treat-holding toys give him an extra reward for chewing the things he should be chewing, instead of the furniture. Playtime is sure to last much longer as he tries to solve the puzzle to get to the tasty rawhide rings.

A Satisfying Challenge for Your Pup

A Satisfying Challenge for Your Pup

Dogs love to chew because it satisfies instinctual urges. Busy Buddy toys give them the same satisfaction they would get by catching prey in the wild and being able to eat what they catch. There's a Busy Buddy toy for every type of four-legged hunter, and each is made with durable nylon and rubber that has a pleasant vanilla scent.

More Than Just a Puzzle Toy

Aside from being a fun and challenging puzzle toy, the Busy Buddy can help prevent bad behaviors like inappropriate chewing, excessive barking and digging through the trash. It's also the perfect solution for separation anxiety or boredom and makes a great training reward. The varied textures and rawhide rings keep pups content and engaged for hours.

Treat Ring Refills

Treat Ring Refills

You can refill your dog's Busy Buddy with several flavors of treat rings, including natural rawhide, peanut butter or bacon. Some have added health benefits, like the Dental Support rings that help clean teeth and freshen breath, or Joint Support rings with glucosamine and chondroitin. Each package is labeled with the ring size that will fit.

Ultra Toys for Determined Chewers

For heavy chewers, a Busy Buddy Ultra toy might be the best option. They're designed to challenge your dog even more than regular Busy Buddy toys. The Ultra Sub has treat rings that spin, and the Ultra Stratos is the same diameter as the rings, making them harder to grip. The cone-shaped ends of the Ultra Woofer present a trickier challenge as your dog figures out how to get to the ring.

  • Disappointed - not great for my big dogs

    By on

It took my German Shepherd Dog pup about 10 minutes to unscrew the entire Busy Buddy Bristle Bone Toy and chew up both the bristle and purple parts, plus strip the screw to the point where it will no longer thread. :-( The concept is great and the item would be good for smaller dogs that aren't heavy chewers or smart enough to unscrew the parts! Busy Buddy would do well to sell replacement parts for this as the purple parts (green on the Busy Buddy Jack) are so soft they are easily (about 20 minutes) shredded by my Australian Cattle Dog and English Staffordshire Bull Terrier. For the price, it should really last longer. Also, the rawhide parts are extremely over priced for what you get. I've attached a picture of the Busy Buddy Jack, largest size, after one day of play at my house. It lasted longer but the concept of the toy is the same and the construction materials similar. It did take my dogs *two* days to figure out how to unscrew it. (And both toys were screwed down as tight as I could get them.) For a large dog that chews, this is a better choice. However, once the textured rubber rings are shredded the toys are useless. … more

  • Keeps my chewer happy

    By on

My 18 lb Schnauzer is a notorious chewer. Have ordered several supposedly tough toys for her and she destroys them all. The bristle bone dog toy has been the absolute best. So good in fact I bought another one for my less rambunctious schnauzer.

We have 2 of these! It is their favorite. We have 2 Golden doodles and bought the med and lg toy. Right now they are 5mos and 43lbs. They like the med because they can hold it and chew but as they get bigger, the lg will work better for them. But they do Keep our pups busy for hours! They love it!

  • Pay attention

    By on

I didn't read anything, gave to my big dog who took it outside and destroyed it. I didn't open the package and didn't know about the treat rings. I bought 2 more, paid attention and let the dogs have it 15 minutes a day. Then I had to buy a 3rd one because three dogs always stealing from each other. Everyone is happy now, the bone stays inside and they are supervised. They LOVE it, just need to monitor the play time.

  • Great idea, poor manufacturing

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I purchased five of these. Three large, one medium, and one small. All of the bristle segments broke within the first week. Had each of my dogs not needed coaxing to play with the Busy Bone they probably would have broke sooner. The toys did NOT break in a way that posed a choking hazard or other danger to my dogs. I am still able to use them (not personally lol) with just the rubber segments and treat rings. So it's still a great busy toy, it's just no longer much of a dental treat. Also, the bones have never come apart while in use, even when my extra large power-chewer got a hold of the small one.

  • Cooper Loves Busy Buddy!

    By on Top 250 Contributor

Cooper (70-lb, 2 year old golden retriever) loves Busy Buddy toys. I was worried he might not like this one because of the bristles, but he proved me wrong. He likes to chew on these toys even when there's not raw hide treat in them, which is fantastic because I like to stay away from raw hide treats anyway. I'm hoping that the bristles have a positive effect on his teeth/gums. Either way, I'm sure it can't hurt!

  • short term entertainment

I normally only get dog food and kitty litter from chewy, but I decided to get my 18 month weimer/lab/retriever a new toy to help keep him off the furniture. This didn't last but 1 evening while I was gone... He had it completely chewed apart and pieces of this toy all over the living room. Guess he was busy for a while - maybe 3ish hours? He was waiting on the loveseat for us when we got home I will not be replacing this toy.

  • Not for my Golden or Destructive chewers.

    By on

My golden had very little interest compared to the rest of her new toy tryouts. It's a heavy toy and it's loud when dropped on tile, which concerns me about cracking tile unintentionally. What little time my golden spent was removing shaving from the ends.

  • Perfect chew toy

    By on

This bristle bone toy is a great one for strong chewers. Have a year old German Shepherd, a chewing machine. She loves this toy. Other reviewers mentioned the bristles coming loose so I am keeping an eye on her while she works this bone. So far we haven't had any problems with the brush bristles coming out. The only downside is that she likes to drop it on the hardwood floor....boom!

  • Pretty Good Toy

    By on

This is the 2nd Busy Bone we've bought for our power chewer (80 lb lab/rott mix) and I expect we'll always have one of these in the house. The first one (not bought at Chewy) lasted 5 months but should have been replaced at 4 months. This toy is very fun since you can add the treats, and my dog loves it. Negatives are that if your dog chews hard like mine, the ends of the bone get rough and sharp, which helps them hold dirt and hair. For dogs that tend to drop toys near/on your feet, be on the lookout. This is heavy hitting a bare foot.
