Rated 4 out of 5 by TerrierTroubles94 Works But...
My dog has been eating Ziwipeak for about a year and a half and gained a little bit of weight on it, I wanted to help keep her fit and trim so I decided to add this Special Needs Formula to her diet. After about 3 weeks, eating this once in the morning and the Synergy at night, she has lost between 1-2lbs and has a visible waist. So I don't doubt the weight loss benefits of this food.
Unfortunately, after eating grain free for so long, my little girl can not stay on this food. She started horrible foot licking, tore up her ears and face. Her tear stains are back and she broke out in a red swollen rash around where she pees. I took her off of it this week, so hopefully she will go back to normal pretty soon. I still think this is a high quality product, I did a lot of research before deciding to try this. It just didn't work out for my girl. We will be sticking to grain free products from now on.

by MZee My dogs love it!
I bought this food for my diabetic dog because he would not touch the prescription food. 4 out of 5 of my dogs love it and one will eat it, but would prefer something else. However, he will eat it eventually. Always one in the crowd! Good holistic ingredients and 4 out 5 dogs recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Suzie Great for dogs with digestive problems
I have a Bernese Mountain Dog 6 month old pup that I was having a hard time getting her stools to firm up. This food was recommended to me by a dog nutritionist as somewhere to start. It has done wonders for my pup. She loves it and stools have firmed up. I am now feeding it to my adult Berner.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SausalitoShopper Might be a good food for some, but didn't work for my dog
I was really excited by this food's claim to be alkaline, as I have a dog with some reflux problems. I can get the coughing and gulping under control with home-cooked food, but I fear that she is not getting the nutrients she needs. Unfortunately, this did not work for her specific condition. Within a few meals, she was back to discomfort and gulping. So...back to the drawing board...

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lynne Helped a Greyhound with Colitis
My 7 year old rescued greyhound, Queen, always had a sensitive stomach and was very gassy. The grain free food(Blue Buffalo) helped as well as the probiotics but she experienced a very bad bout of colitis last month. She could only handle chicken and rice even after med's prescribed to help with the colitis. After researching a food that was good for dogs with colitis I ordered Canine Caviar Special Needs. What a huge difference after one day!!! Queen's bm's went from liquid to firm immediately. She seems to enjoy the food and has never turned down a meal:) Her gassy issues are gone as well since she started eating the Canine Caviar Special Needs. She is a happy dog again and I'm a happy Mom again. I'm also very grateful to Chewy.com for carrying and delivering this food as quickly as they did!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Maltipoo Great Alternative to Vet prescribed I/D food
A couple months back my dog came down with unexplained colitis. It took her many weeks to get back in form. The vet had prescribed Science Diet I/D food, but my dog would not eat it.
I discovered this food which is a nice holistic alkaline alternative. Protein and fat levels are low and there are prebiotics and probiotics. This food also has one of the highest digestibility rates (over 90%).
What I like about it the most is that my dog is okay with eating it. She does not eat any kibble, and we have tried them all, but she will eat this for an occasional meal here and there. It also resembles homemade transition food with the primary ingredients being brown rice and chicken. We 100% transition to and from this food for the occasional meal with no issues and her stool is solid on this.
My dog generally eats homemade food or fresh dog food, but this is the kibble I always have out for her as backup. The smell is not as strong as other kibbles I've noticed. But I do wish the kibble came in a smaller size as they are rather large flat round disks. I think the kibble use to be really small and big dog owners complained and they came up with this happy medium, but I know my small dog would have preferred the original size. It comes packaged in a nice resealable thick dark airtight bag. Best packaging I've seen for kibble so far yet.
