We live out in the woods so keeping fleas to a minimum is always a fight. We either buy cheap stuff that doesn't really work, make our own creations from the internet that works again but for a couple of days, or have to spend an arm and a leg to get the really good stuff for all of our dogs that only works really well for a week or so and they are right back on. After about 30 minutes after we gave our dogs Capstar (only 1 tablet each, nice!) our dogs were going crazy and we realized all of the fleas were slowly falling off of them. I'm hoping it lasts a little while, its been a few days now and they are still look good. If it actually lasts for a 2-3 weeks I will put this in my auto ship to continuously have it worked so well on the fleas. The downfall is its more of a flea killer not an flea egg killer, but I think thats how most are and it works so well on the fleas and with a bath using dawn dish soap (that works really well on fleas) works pretty well and at least gives them a break from itching! … more

  • Got Fleas, Get These!

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

We run a small animal shelter. And this year has been a record for Fleas. We have NEVER had a problem in 23 yrs. But this year nothing seems to work. The flea drops and Sprays seem to have No effect. But these Pills have helped us to get them under control. We have been giving them to our Dogs 2 times a week along with Flea collars. They stopped itching and scratching almost immediately , withen a few hrs. Of recieving the pill. WE HIGHLY recommend them. AND CHEWY has the best price around.

I've seen some reviews of disappointment of people saying "this only worked for a couple of days" The product clearly states it kills fleas within 24 HOURS. It goes on to say that it does NOT PREVENT fleas. It is not a preventative, it is a flea killer. In rescue we dose all new cats/dogs to kill fleas before bringing into our homes. You still have to be a vigilant vacuumer and treat pets with a monthly topical or oral if you want FLEA PREVENTATIVE. Capstar does exactly what it claims to do, but you actually have to read ALL the information on the box.

  • Fleas Dead

This item is great for getting rid of fleas for 24 hours. The fleas are not happy the first couple hours and seem to bite a lot, but after about 3 hours, they are done. We had not had fleas for 3 years, but got them this year. :-( The few 3 year old tablets I had left over worked fine, but I had to buy some more.... Personally try not to give this item to our dog frequently, ie.. never more than once a week, and try to do it less. When the cold weather comes ( and fleas are gone outside ), we give a pill to the dog, and treat the carpet. Usually, we don't see any more fleas.

  • a lot of hype

Was very disappointed--got to the point I was giving them to my dogs every 1-2 weeks instead of 2 months with this--fleas held at bay for a short time--a few days at most.I like Chewy, but not the flea products that are out there. Every year for the last 5 years at least, I pay a hundred dollars or so on products that don't work ! It is maddening ! Back in the 60s and 70s all you had to do was buy a flea collar and you were good. NOW it is ridiculous. I feel like an A number one sucker, and all I'm trying to do is trying to relieve my poor puppies discomfort...

  • works great for me

I brought a foster dog into my home and she had fleas. Just in case they spread to my other dogs, I gave everyone a capstar. In the future, I hope to remember to give a new foster a capstar before I get the dog home! It is a safe product to keep on hand.

  • Awesome product!

Had been a little skectipcal about this item. Unitl further reading more reviews about it. Having a vet recommending this product. So I decided to give it a try. It actually worked! My dog went crazy after the first 30 to 45 minutes after taking one tablet. After an hour or two she has been very calm, well calmer than before - less itchy.

  • Item didn't work.

    By on

our pet has fleas. he obtained them from our apartment complex grass. Unfortunately Capstar flea tables did not work at all. he took every single pill daily, and had no reaction. We picked up a few pills from a vet, and they seemed to work. Capstar did not seem to help in the slighest.

  • Capstar Kills Fleas Fast

    By on

Capstar is best to use on a dog with a flea infestation. It kills them quickly. Follow-up with a flea prevention product like Frontline Plus or NextGuard. No flea prevention product is100% effective.

  • Fleas began to die

This does work - however, this won't work alone. This is just for temporary relief. My dogs were really suffering so I bought this stuff. I put my dogs on a preventative as well, and used some topical stuff.
