Feeding Instructions

Adjust amounts accordingly over time. These portions are averages; portions will vary by the age, activity, size, and temperament of your dog. When introducing Earthborn Holistic® to your dog's diet, mix increasing amounts of Earthborn Holistic® with decreasing amounts of the old food over a one-week period.

During gestation and lactation, feed two to three times as much food as recommended in the Daily Feeding Guide for the weight of your adult dog. Puppies start to eat solid foods at three to four weeks of age and should have free access to solid food from that time until weaning. You may keep Earthborn Holistic® before your puppy at all times. Most puppies will satisfy their nutritional needs as their appetites dictate. Have clean, fresh water available for your dog at all times.

Transition Instructions

  • On days 1 & 2 of the change, you should have plenty of your pet’s old food left. Fill the bowl with three quarters of the old food, and one quarter of Earthborn Holistic®.

  • On days 3 & 4, add in another quarter, so you have half old food, half Earthborn Holistic®.

  • On days 5 & 6, mix one quarter old food and three quarters Earthborn Holistic® Food for Pets.

  • In only 7 days, your pet will be on an all-new diet of Earthborn Holistic® Food for Pets!

Started using this product after purchasing from local pet supply store. Found that Chewys carries it & can purchase plus have it shipped to home for a cheaper amount of $$. Has always been fresh and arrives in a very timely fashion without delays. Do not ever have to worry that Chewys will be out of it like the local store often was, plus do not have to make time for a trip out to store to purchase. Just able to order at my convenienience at the house. Both my doggies use it without any encountered product problems.

  • Good Food but our dog preferred Fish & Lamb Flavors

This brand is the BEST FOOD for dogs with Allergies & Picky Taste but the Bison flavor is not their favorite. They prefer Lamb & Fish

I feed all three of my dogs this dog food, and they all love it. I like that it doesn't have all kinds of additives in it. I especially like ordering it from Chewy.com, not only for the price, but also for the speed of delivery. I ordered it on Tuesday, and it was delivered on Wednesday! Chewy.com has great customer service!

  • Great quality!

    By on

Our Pointer has suffered with dry skin, UTI's and yeast infections since she was a puppy. We tried Vet suggested food brands that would help one symptom, but not another. After doing our own research, we found this brand. She is a completely different dog! And she loves the taste. Her skin is back to normal, no UTI'S or yeast infections and she is back to her lean foundation - She had gained weight with other brands. We love this brand, this is definitely our family's favorite!

  • My dog has no taste ....

    By on

This dog food is rated excellent for it's nutrition value. This is the second flavor that I've tried but he still isn't crazy about it. He is a border collie mix, about 70 lbs, and only needs about 2-3 cups of this a day so although it's a little pricey, the bag lasts a long time. He has no appreciation of good dog food, he would rather eat the cheap stuff! However, he does very well on it, his fur looks good, he never has an upset stomach and he is very energetic. I guess the next time I'll try another flavor.

  • High quality & affordable

We feed kibble in the morning and raw in the evening. Orijen was our longtime favorite but with our very active GWPs, it just got to be too expensive, so we started looking for a more affordable substitute. We were specifically looking for a dry dog food that's high in protein and low in carbohydrates, made of high quality ingredients with nothing objectionable in the mix, and made by a company with no history of recalls. Most of the foods that meet those criteria aren't a whole lot cheaper than Orijen, but there are a few options. First we tried three Victor foods (two grainless varieties and the Hi-Pro Plus with grains). The dogs liked those fine and seemed to be doing well on them until our We feed kibble in the morning and raw in the evening. First we tried three Victor foods (two grainless varieties and the Hi-Pro Plus with grains). The dogs liked those fine and seemed to be doing well on them until our last bag of Hi-Pro Plus when one of our dogs started to occasionally vomit a couple of hours after eating. The Victor kibble pieces are very small so the dogs tend to inhale their food and I thought that might have something to do with his throwing up, so I decided to try a different brand this time. Earthborn Holistic costs a bit more than Victor Grainless but it looked like a very high quality food with good sized kibble pieces. The protein levels and super low carbs in the Primitive Natural variety are comparable to Orijen and I was leaning strongly in that direction but I did not like the omega-6 to omega-3 EFA ratio (too much of the former and not enough of the latter). And DHA at just 0.05% is ridiculously low. So I chose Great Plains, which has the second-highest protein level and a much better EFA profile. All the dogs seem to really like it and the kibble pieces are a great size for large breed dogs. We haven't had any more vomiting episodes since we switched. I also love that--unlike with Orijen and Victor--even the biggest bags are easily resealable. … more

  • First Time to Try a Grain Free Natural Dry Dog Food

    By on

This was the first time for me to try a grain free natural dry dog food. My dachshund acted disinterested in it, at first. I mixed it with his old food and now all is good. I feel better knowing I'm feeding my dogs a better for for a better life for them!

  • The Best.

    By on

The Earthborn works great for our dogs and is the only one we have found that our food sensitive Lab will tolerate without itching herself raw. There might be others, but Earthborn works for our dogs the best.

  • Smell good enough to eat

    By on

My dog, Sam, is very picky about his food...he LOVES people-food (my fault). This has been the only food that he eaten without a lot of "turning up his nose". It has no fishy smell which is surely a plus. I can highly recommend Earthborn Holistic Great Plains Feast Grain-free with Bison Meal. I am very happy I found this great dog food that I feel comfortable feeding to my dog.
