Feeding Instructions

Adjust amounts accordingly over time. These portions are averages; portions will vary by the age, activity, size, and temperament of your dog. When introducing Earthborn Holistic® to your dog's diet, mix increasing amounts of Earthborn Holistic® with decreasing amounts of the old food over a one-week period.

During gestation and lactation, feed two to three times as much food as recommended in the Daily Feeding Guide for the weight of your adult dog. Puppies start to eat solid foods at three to four weeks of age and should have free access to solid food from that time until weaning. You may keep Earthborn Holistic® before your puppy at all times. Most puppies will satisfy their nutritional needs as their appetites dictate. Have clean, fresh water available for your dog at all times.

Transition Instructions

  • On days 1 & 2 of the change, you should have plenty of your pet’s old food left. Fill the bowl with three quarters of the old food, and one quarter of Earthborn Holistic®.

  • On days 3 & 4, add in another quarter, so you have half old food, half Earthborn Holistic®.

  • On days 5 & 6, mix one quarter old food and three quarters Earthborn Holistic® Food for Pets.

  • In only 7 days, your pet will be on an all-new diet of Earthborn Holistic® Food for Pets!

  • Loves the food, not great on the tummy

    By on

We have a 1.5 year old Pit/Lab mix who is a real struggle to find food for. He's been on a few since we've gotten him (he was started on Simply Nourish after adoption, then onto Taste of the Wild and now this). He has gas daily and awful bowel changes with all of the foods we have tried, no matter how slowly we transition and how long he remains on the food. I had high hopes for this product after reading reviews but it seems to be the worst yet for his sensitive tummy - he's been very constipated and when he does go, it's like little rocks (this was not an issue on the other foods). We've started mixing in soft food regularly to ease this. Not as bad of gas as on Taste of the Wild, but still We have a 1.5 year old Pit/Lab mix who is a real struggle to find food for. Our last dog did very well on Wellness, so we may give their Simple line a try next. … more

  • Shih Tzu likes it!

    By on

My 2-year-old Shih Tzu has a problem with sometimes throwing up the dog food she eats. At first I thought it was because she ate too quickly (and my vet agreed), but as she's gotten older and eats more slowly, the problem persisted, along with a disinclination to eat the food at all. I had been (on the advice of my vet) feeding her Hill's, so I decided to change food to see if that helped. I shifted her onto Chicken Soup for the Soul, but the same thing happened. After a couple of months, I decided to try a No-Grain variety. I researched the options and settled on Earth Born Primitive. When I first set down a small amount of it for her to try, she ate it readily, so mark one point for Appetizing My 2-year-old Shih Tzu has a problem with sometimes throwing up the dog food she eats. Also, she's been on it now for nearly a month, and I've not seen her throw it up at all. Score another point. So, yes, I can readily say that I recommend this brand, particularly if you have a dog that's reluctant to eat and/or throws up its food. Good product! … more

  • Was difficult finding this brand and flavor

    By on

Chewy had it and much more at a cheaper price. FAST DELIVERY!!! RIGHT TO MY DOOR AND I'M ON THE 4TH FLOOR!!!! No more lugging 28 lbs up four flights of stairs. This company is fantastic!!! I'm now going to be a loyal customer while being a pet owner. My dog loves his food! Brought rescue dog home at 86 lbs way underweight. This food gives all the nutrients and protein and omega needed...now my Great Pyrenees is at 130!

  • Quality Brand you can TRUST!

    By on

There are so many sketchy dog food brands and caring for them as my family I want to make sure their food is good quality. I completely trust this brand, my dogs love their food and it's amazing quality with no bad ingredients. Have been using this for years and will continue to do so, I just change flavors within the brand every 6 months.

  • So far so good.

Gradually changing my dog to Earthborn dog food. She likes it and seems to be making the transition well. Earthborn was recommended by the kennel where she is boarded while we are out of town.

  • Earthborn Primitive Natural

    By on

My dogs have eaten this food for several years. I add cooked chicken and brown rice with a little chicken broth in their morning meal and raw beef and beef broth for their evening meal. They love it and I am confident they are getting meals that are good and healthy. I used to get this brand/flavor at Murdoch's but they quit carrying it. How fortunate for me that I received a card in the mail from Chewy. Thank you!

  • This product gives my dog very hard poop.

    By on

I have been switching various dog food about 4 times without finding the food which suite my dog. My dog is 10 and half years old lab mix. He tend to gain weight due to a very little exercise because injuries to both hind legs. Since switching to this products his poop has been very hard even I add green beans to it. I am afraid I have to search for other dog food soon. I like the ingredients in this food and I do not see the same problem I have with this in other peoples reviews.

  • He likes it!

    By on

My dog likes this food, however it did not agree with his stomach. He does have a sensitive stomach so I do not blame the food. I started out mixing it in very slowly but his system just couldn't deal with it. He done ok at a 50/50 mix of this food and the other food, but any more than that and he had issues.

  • dogs love it.

Use this product for my 3 dogs. Old Sheltie, adult Sheltie and 11 month old German Shepard. Had been using the ocean catch but apparently oil leaked out and girls got sick. This product seems much better.

I have two picky dogs, both with sensitive stomachs. I've tried several different brands of dog food over the last couple of years, but we always come back to this! They love it and it keeps them happy and healthy!
