I use this frequently. It traps fleas and eggs in comb then use your fingernail to run along comb and there you smashed them. My dogs don't get fleas often, but after a romp at dog park if I see them scratching I comb them immediately. This is a good alternative to using chemicals on your dog. This is not for an infestation of fleas you'll need chemicals to keep that in check. It's also good after a hike in the woods to get ticks off before they lodge themselves into the skin. I've been using flea combs for the last 38 years this brand in particular. I'm just now replacing my original one that's how sturdy it is, just keep it dry it is metal. • Does the job!

Paid $15 for this exact comb at the vets office. It was what she recommended for a 3 -4 week old kitten that we were "fostering" with a ton of fleas. Thank God the flea comb did a better job at catching the fleas than we did "fostering". Needles to say, I am on here ordering "our kitten" toys and a cat tree. She is not going anywhere. I love Chewy, you guys are AWESOME!

  • Not recommended for fleas

The teeth of this comb are too far apart to catch any but the laziest and fattest fleas on my cat. I like the sturdy metal construction and will use this for detangling my long-haired cat. Therefore, I recommend this product to be used as a regular comb. As a flea comb, not so much. For that purpose, a Safari flea comb is the best I have found so far.

  • This is junk

I ordered this because I have a young kitten with fine fur. Unfortunately the fleas really love poor "flea-bait". This comb doesn't work at all. Fortunately I also bought a double comb that works better, but a tweezer is still necessary. I seriously don't see anything "fine" about this comb. The tines are further spaced than the plastic flea combs.

  • Picks up eggs as well as varmits

My dog, Zimmie, is a yellow lab about 12 years old. Her coat is dense, an excellent habitat and breeding ground for fleas. You don't see them until she is scratching and I go looking. A good combing with this strong, well made comb, three days in a row a week after an application of flea/tick remover, produced a few tiny fleas and quite a few eggs on the first combing. She is flea free now. I combed her last night with 0 results. Thank you.

  • Not fine

Seeing as the description was "fine comb" i thought itd be small spaced enough for my cat. I couldnt even catch one flea with it for several days. I dont know how dog fleas are but careful with thinking that this is small enough to catch fleas.

  • Flea comb- good product

I needed to replace my old metal flea comb, which is no longer made, and found this one. It is the same size and shape, seems well made, but even listed as extra fine, it isn't quite as fine as my old one. Seems to work pretty well, though.

  • The best flea comb!!

The first comb lasted 16 years. It went through 3 very heavy coated herding breed dogs (Border Collie, Australian Shephard, welsh Corgi) on a regular basis. It's the only comb, as far as I can tell, where you can actually see the flea, quickly enough to react, with the silver body and teeth It's also one piece, so, it's strong and easy to clean. Just get a glass with hot soapy water and dip the comb quickly into it if you find a flea or eggs. The soapy water will kill the flea. There are years when it seems nothing you do will eliminate fleas. Some have and will continue to become immune to flea treatments. Also, some dogs are more susceptible than others. I recently bought 2 more combs. One for myself, as, after all these years and so much use, 2 prongs on my old comb have bent a little. So now I have a spare. My daughter-in-law is having a lot of trouble with fleas, in an apartment complex. One of her dogs is too old to use flea treatments, so the comb and baths are her only recourse. The second comb is for her. I was so happy to find this comb again, after all these years. Please don't stop making it, Four Paws. Thank you for a superior product. … more

I have been grooming for 35 years and love the final finish on lots of coats with this comb, although I don't recommend it to customers to use. I personally feel good using it knowing there isn't a matt or much undercoat ever left in a dog I groom.....
