Rated 1 out of 5 by Janet80 Too much slack
I got this to keep my small dog from being thrown on the floor of my small car if I had to stop suddenly. I had to jimmy rig it so that it would do that. There was to much slack in it the way it was supposed to work. I ended up going to my local pet store and getting a different one that connects differently. It works much better. He doesn't like it, lol, but he's safe.

I have a very smart 11 month old labx that managed to escape twice while riding in the back seat. The distance traveled was about a mile each time. The second time he proceeded to eat the harness. I figured the next thing he would eat was the seat belt.

I take my Australian shepherd in my jeep on lengthy road adventures quite often. I feel safe in knowing that he will be secure in all situations without sacrificing his comfort thanks for making such a wonderful car harness available!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Verified Reviewer Great product and excellent price at Chewy.com!
I just ordered our 4th and 5th Safety Seat Support harnesses. We use them strictly for walking the dogs though - haven't ever used them in the car! I think the best feature of these harnesses is the ease of getting them off and on.
Instead of typical harness where the dog has to "step in", with this you put it over the head and then pull the two straps under the belly and snap into the buckles on the back. They get a lot of use at our house as the dogs go out multiple times every day with them on. They have all lasted several years before needing replacement, and these probably had to be replaced before their time as a puppy joined the family and chewed on the straps (naughty puppy but very cute, so - whatcha gonna do?).
Recommend this product to anyone frustrated with the step in harness and looking for a comfortable, inexpensive harness.

The price is extremely reasonable; but while this seat belt might fit small, full-grown dogs in the weight ranges correctly, it does not fit growing dogs in the range. The problem seems to be in the chest area of growing dogs (our Golden Retriever), thus making it an awkward fit (the pup can chew the harness) and unusable to use as a walking harness. The wide seat belt did not fit well through the small elastic section, as it was VERY confining for our dog. We hooked a short two buckle-end leash to the ring on the bottom of the harness to give him more room to lie down. This piece is not included as it is with some seat belts costting upwards from about $36.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Bassador Keeps dog in place
Our bassador has a habit of trying to jump seats constantly (most notably from the back into my lap in the front passenger seat), so we decided we really needed to invest in a car restraint for him. This one works quite well, and since he is already used to wearing harnesses, he likes it just fine for himself. The only downside is that there really is not much leeway for movement for the dog in the sense that they can get a little tangled in the seatbelt or frustrated if they are trying to circle to get comfy before they sit. At the same time, it is restricting their movement that makes this seat belt do what it does.
Our tip would be to purchase it, keep your pet safe, but let them get settled in the car before buckling them in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lorie Covers chest with sturdy material and a soft fleece lining
After looking at other travel harnesses for my Standard Poodles. I decided to replace my worn out one with the same model from "Four Paws." My dogs are performance dogs so they travel a great deal. They also go on vacation with us. This harness covers the chest very well. The soft lining and the placement of the straps seem to make it comfortable for the dogs. We use an extension belt to connect it with the seat belt system. They wash and dry well. We have had them for five years and used them every day. The extension belt needs to be long enough for the dogs to move but short enough to keep them from flying around the car. The harnesses are easy to put on and take off.
