Frontline Plus doesn’t just kill adult fleas and ticks but also slays the next generation of flea eggs and larvae. Plus, it works non-stop for 30 days on dogs. Frontline Plus has 2 tough killing ingredients. The 1st, fipronil, kills adult fleas and ticks. The 2nd, (S)-methoprene, attacks flea eggs and larvae. They work together to kill all month long. Plus, it breaks the flea life cycle. By also destroying the next generation of flea eggs and larvae, Frontline Plus gives you the power to help prevent a flea infestation on your pet. Frontline products are highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for dogs.

Key Benefits

  • Provides fast-acting, long-lasting treatment and control and is safe for use on dogs and puppies 8 weeks or older between 5-22 pounds
  • Kills adult fleas, ticks, chewing lice, mites, and flea eggs and larvae that may transmit Lyme disease
  • Highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for dogs
  • Contains fipronil to kill existing flea and tick infestations. It also kills fleas before they lay eggs, effectively preventing reinfestation for 30 days
  • Provides waterproof effectiveness so that it won't wash off from swimming or baths

Frequently Asked Questions

How does FRONTLINE Plus kill fleas and ticks?

FRONTLINE Plus has 2 secret weapons: fipronil and (S)-methoprene. Once FRONTLINE Plus is applied, this combo stores itself in the oil glands in your pet's skin. It then self-distributes continuously for 1 month to your pet's hair and skin through the hair follicles. Fleas or ticks that come in contact with your pet are dead meat.

How long does it take for FRONTLINE Plus to kill fleas?

In a study, FRONTLINE Plus began killing fleas 4 hours after application.1 Another study showed that within 12 hours, Frontline Plus killed 100% of fleas.2

Do fleas and ticks have to bite my pet for FRONTLINE Plus to work?

No. FRONTLINE Plus kills fleas and ticks through contact with your pet's haircoat. No biting necessary.

Why am I seeing more fleas on my pet after applying FRONTLINE Plus?

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's haircoat as they die. So if you start seeing more fleas after treating your pet, consider it a victory for the killing force.

After using FRONTLINE Plus, I still see fleas in my home. Why?

The fleas you see most likely started as flea eggs that were deposited in the environment before you began using FRONTLINE Plus. Consecutive monthly applications of FRONTLINE Plus will assist with the elimination of an indoor flea life cycle. In some geographical regions in the United States, it may be required to use the product year-round.

Does FRONTLINE Plus have an expiration date?

No. As long as you keep it at room temperature and sealed in its original packaging, FRONTLINE Plus will remain ready for battle.

How long after application can my pet be bathed or go swimming?

FRONTLINE Plus remains effective for 30 days, even if your pet swims or is bathed. After application, keep your pet from getting wet for 24 hours. If FRONTLINE Plus is to be applied after a bath, make sure your pet is completely dry before application.

Can I use it if my pet is on medication?

Before using FRONTLINE Plus, ask your vet about possible interactions with any medications your dog is taking.

Can I use FRONTLINE Plus if I have already applied another flea and tick control product?

Before using, consult your veterinarian.

Does FRONTLINE Plus kill anything else besides fleas and ticks?

You bet. FRONTLINE Plus also kills chewing lice.

Can FRONTLINE Plus be used on pets other than dogs and cats?

No. FRONTLINE Plus should be used on dogs and cats only. There are specific products based on what kind of pet you have and how much it weighs. Be sure to use the right product for your pet.

Can I apply it more than once a month?

Don't reapply FRONTLINE Plus before the month is through. It keeps working for a full 30 days.

How old does my pet need to be in order to have FRONTLINE Plus applied?

At 8 weeks your pet can start benefiting from the power of FRONTLINE Plus.

  • No longer effective

I have been using Frontline for over a year with no problems. However, in the last month, my dogs have been getting fleas like crazy. I called up my vet, and I was told that fleas are becoming more and more immune to the active ingredients in Frontline. She recommended an oral treatment, flea collar, or alternative topical treatment.

  • Great product at a great price!

We have always used Frontline on our 4 Shih Tzu dogs and have always had great results. We paid much less money here at Chewy for more months of applications, and their service was quick! I would recommend this product and have already told a friend about Chewy. I will continue to deal with this company for this and other products! BRAVO!

  • Sticktights all gone

    By on

This yorkie Velcro can find any elusive bug there is!! He found sticktights when he decided he was a bird dog and caught 2 doves in one week. (Since they are avian fleas and we have no chickens near us we are blaming the doves) Vet said use Frontline and I could come and pick up. I decided (since I work from home and couldn't get to vet for 4 days) order from Chewy. 2 days later package here and Velcro treated. Now 2 weeks later bugs all gone. So "Buggy Boy" what next?

  • this did not work!!!

    By on

I,ve always purchased Frontline from my vet in the past. This year I purchased 6 doses for my 3 dogs and 6 doses for my 3 cats from chewy.com. I've just applied the second dose on all six of my animals and they are still scratching and I have found several fleas on them. What's happening. Is your supply inferior to what the vet receives. I've always used Frontline and have been happy with the results. My vet says never get it on-line.

  • Flea-friendly treatment

    By on

I bought Frontline Plus hoping it would be more effective on my litter of 12 to 15 pound puppies at 6 weeks than Advantage Plus was on my litter last year (my vet said it's definitely safe on such big pups). It sort of worked for one week, then they started itching again. More likely Frontline's fault than Chewy.com but just want to warn people that none of this stuff works against fleas in the Lane County Oregon area.

  • Works on my Maltese

  • Didn't work as expected

    By on

I purchased the Frontline for our 13 week old puppy, knowing that this would be beneficial as we have lots of ticks near our property. Unfortunately, it did not work as planned for our energetic puppy. He would roll on his back for belly rubs and the liquid would be all over the hardwood floors. He would try to get a toy from under a piece of furniture and it would be all over the furniture. To ensure he didn't lick it and ingest it I had to follow him around and wipe it up the whole night. Since the Frontline takes 24 hours to dry, I ended up wiping it off of him before he went to bed and going to the vet for an oral tick/flea prevention that week.

  • Ok for a few fleas

    By on

I would not purchase this item.. My dogs got literally infested with fleas from stray cats. The Frontline killed a few. I ended up getting a bravecto pill for each pup from my vet.. Appx 160 for 3 pills (lasts 3 months). Within a few hours 95 percent of fleas were dead.. Two weeks later, flea free... Save your money tht you want to spend on this product and buy bravecto.

This begins to work immediately! At least it seems that way. I just moved and couldn't find the Frontline I already had. Thanks for the quick delivery time Chewy!
