Rated 3 out of 5 by food great bag too big My doggie likes the food. BUT I need smaller bags that fit in mouse-proof containers in my overflow food storage area known as the shelves by the basement staors (old house, Vermont, laid up stone foundation, mouse access). Instead I have to store it in my coat closet...not close to kitchen. ser January 14, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hill's Prescription B/D really works. I've never written a review but thought it important to write one on this product. If you're researching this product, I know you have serious concerns for your furry friend's behavior. This product really, really works! After only two days I noticed a marked improvement in his nightly behavior. Several months ago, my 9 year old Golden started having seizures (presumably a brain tumor). Several weeks later his evening behavior showed signs of dementia (Sundowners). He would pace, frantic panting, getting lost behind furniture and staggered walk. He was no longer sociable with me or my other dog. After 6 days now, these symptoms are almost gone. Because of the meds for his seizures, he's not as active as he once was - but I'll take it. For those who have issues with the 1st ingredient being whole grain corn -- I have always fed my dog the highest quality dog food (& most expensive) but he still ended up with a brain tumor and dementia! This product really has worked for my dog. I hope it will work for yours too. November 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by I was a skeptic, but I think this is working! Our 13-1/2 year old lab has been showing some signs of canine dementia - especially agitation, confusion and unseadiness. We've tried several different otc & prescription meds with little success, so when our vet recommended the Science Diet B/D we thought it couldn't hurt. We couldn't imagine a different food would help when we were already feeding a very high-quality diet, but we trust our vet. Lucy loves the food, and I guess it could be coincidence, but after she had been on the B/D for a little over a week, we started seeing significant improvement. She's steadier on her feet and seems more engaged than she had been - even resumed her lifelong habit of carrying her toys around. So whatever is behind this rally of hers....we'll be keeping her on the B/D because it's the only 'remedy' that seems to have helped our girl. July 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product appears to improve my Greyhound's activity level Our 14 year-old Greyhound has been on this dog food for over a month now. She seems to be more alert and active since she's been on this diet. We're happy to see her that way. July 16, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well worth it for your old dogs mind... We took our old Jack Russel into the vet because we felt like there was something wrong that we couldn't see. Physically, there was nothing wrong with her. She is around 13 years old. We could see in her eyes that she wasn't recognizing us and she was becoming quite scared of her surroundings. The vet decided that she was getting doggy dementia and advised us to use b/d. Since putting her on the b/d food she has made a wonderful turnaround. We began to notice the difference in her within the first week of her eating it. She hasn't returned to her former self completely but, at least I know she isn't terrified of her own shadow anymore. Now there are many more "good brain days" than "bad" ones. We highly recommend this food for old dogs starting to lose their minds. It truly does help. May 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hill's b/d Our vet prescribed this for our 15 year old lab/aussie mix. He would pace the halls all night long. The vet thought our dog was having dementia and suggested this food along with Gabapentin. Since the switch to these 2 items, our dog sleeps through the night with no problems. This food was a special ordered item from my vet and I live 1.5 hours away from them. It would take over 10 days for them to get the food, which didn't really work too well when I would forget to reorder. Anyway, I found the food on chewy.com and received it within 2 days. The best part is, chewy.com is almost $10 cheaper than my vet! May 6, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Hoping this helps We ordered the Hills B/D food for our 15 year old Chihuahua, who we think had a stroke. Her blood pressure was sky high. We've mixed it in with her other dry food. Too soon to tell if it will help her any, but we are hopeful. May 19, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by A little too early to tell My foster dog has signs of Canine Cognitive Dysfunction and I read an article that suggested trying this food. It's only been a week and getting her to eat it has taken a little time (they only make it in dry and she needs some wet food to tempt her). I have noticed that when she is awake (she sleeps a lot because she's 13 and a little weak) she seems to be more "with it". It is my understanding that it will take 2-4 weeks to reach a "therapeutic" level in her system so we will see. I'm praying because it will be hard to place her if we can't resolve some of the CCD symptoms she is exhibiting. January 30, 2016
