Bladder stones are collections of mineral crystals that combine together in the urinary tract. They can cause discomfort and lead to more serious problems that require the care of a veterinarian. Because the food your dog eats plays an important role in his or her overall health and well-being, Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians have developed clinical nutrition especially formulated to help support your dog's bladder health. Dogs need the right balance of minerals to maintain good bladder health. Excess minerals can encourage the formation of crystals in the urine, which can lead to the creation of bladder stones.

If your fur baby has to have a prescription product, this is the one to try. Our Giselle "likes" the other Hill's Prescription food but "loves" this one. It is closer to human food than the others with identifiable vegetables.

My dog was on Royal Canine Urinary SO for 5 years after her 1st removal of a large struvite stone. She started showing signs again and of a stone, and come to find out, she had 2 large stones and over a 150 stones removed just a month ago. Vet said to change her food to Hill's Prescription and hope for the best. So far, she LOVES the FOOD and is going in for a checkup to see if the food is helping her little self with those stones!!!

  • Trying something new for my dog with bladder stones....

    By on

I purchased this food from my veterinarian's suggestion. My dog has had bladder stones for the last 3 years that have resulted in surgery to remove them, and nothing has been found in testing the stones that show an infection or build up of any kind in her bladder or urine. We are now resulting to this food change in hopes this will help cure the problem. She seems to really be enjoying the taste.

  • expensive, not sure this is efficient

    By on

my dog has urinary problems so I have no choice but to buy this product, which is quite expensive. I have been giving that "Hill's Urinary Care" for 2 years, but my dog had two more episodes of urinary problems (blood in the urine). The vet told me to continue with this food....

For the first time in years Maggie is happy to eat. For a "prescription diet" very palatible. Unfortunately, the low protein and fat levels leave her hungry at the prescribed amount.
