Bladder stones are collections of mineral crystals that combine together in the urinary tract. They can cause discomfort and lead to more serious problems that require the care of a veterinarian. Because the food your dog eats plays an important role in his or her overall health and well-being, Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians have developed clinical nutrition especially formulated to help support your dog's bladder health. Dogs need the right balance of minerals to maintain good bladder health. Excess minerals can encourage the formation of crystals in the urine, which can lead to the creation of bladder stones.

Key Benefits

  • Reduced levels of protein, magnesium and phosphorus to help limit the building blocks of crystals and bladder stones
  • Low sodium to maintain normal blood pressure
  • Added antioxidants to control cell oxidation and promote a healthy immune system
  • Made in the USA

Rated 5 out of 5 by my dog liked it I have a doxie mix and she was put on this special diet by her vet because she just had surgery for bladder stones, it was between this food and another and she loves this food. it is easy to get out of the can and I mix it with the dry food. July 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Prescription food ... My dog has been on this prescription dog food for several years which meant trips to the vet to purchase it, also the cost has risen significantly. This shipment was convenient as it was mailed directly to me and with the slightly lower cost as opposed to the vet and the free shipping, it was great. This was my first delivery, so my experience is fairly new but I was satisfied. Hopefully it will continue to be so as I signed up for automatic delivery every six weeks. June 5, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Prescription food Our rescue Bubbles had to go on this for life a couple of months ago because of continuing urinary problems. She had a urine sample tested on Saturday, May 14 and all levels are where the vet wants them. But-she is still on antibiotic which she will finish on Friday. So a couple months after that will be the real test. Food is helping though because a couple levels were off and they are good now. Plus Crananidin supplement is good too. Bubbles has no trouble eating it-texture is crumbly though but if it helps that is minor! Chewy has great service so it's all good!! May 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by My dog LOVES it! I had used Hills Science Diet many years ago for my old english sheepdog when she developed bladder crystals -- cleared her condition right up! My senior long hair mini dachshund needed this type of food and I specifically requested prescription for Hill's Science Diet from my vet because of previous positive experience. A great bonus is my dog LOVES this food! And it hasn't seemed to cause any problems with his food allergies. A miracle in itself! Excellent customer service from Chewy.com -- as always. Thank you! Rated 5 out of 5 by Gracie's diet The food must taste delicious my dog loves it, it's dry though so I do add water to it and some dry food as well to it I use half can plus half cup of dry food, it's very pricey but if your dog needs it then you need to give it time them, I will say I looked around about all prices compare to each other, May 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Our dog "Posie" will be on this product for the rest of her life. It's nice to know that we have a name we can trust with Hill's / Prescription Diet Our dog "Posie" unknown to us had problems since she was a puppy. After a while she developed bladder stones which made her life very uncomfortable. We brought her to our Vet, and they said she would need surgury to correct the problem. After her recovery, Our vet gave us a sample bag of Hill's/Prescription Diet Urinary. We have been very pleased with the transformation of our dogs health after the surgury and thanks to our vet for recommending Prescription Diet. Today our "Posie" is a happy loving dog that enjoys running, playing, and of course sleeping. We know we can trust Hill's /Prescription Diet not only because it is a good houshold name, but it was also recommended by our Vet. But the proof is my dogs overall health has improved, plus she is a happy dog now. I wouldn't trade that for anything second best for anything in the world. Thanks Prescription Diet! August 4, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Unsure but... A little over a year ago my male Bichon Frise, Cavalli, developed Struvite stones. He had surgery to remove them and the vet put him on this CD diet dog food. He's eaten it consistently ever since with cooked carrots as treats throughout the day. Well we saw a tiny bit of blood in his urine a few days ago. Took him immediately to the vet & ex-rays revealed that he has more stones...4 of them too large to dissolve & pass. So he needs surgery again :( Now I can't say that the food doesn't work at all but to me it seems to not have made a difference in the stones coming right back in my dog :( Also, his sister Manhattan had Struvite stones removed about 6 months ago and that vet (different than Cavalli's earlier vet) said it really wouldn't matter if we put her on a prescription diet or not...Bichons are just prone to getting stones. I guess I'll continue Cavalli on the food b/c he likes it and the list of ingredients is limited and good for him but I can't say that it helps him against the production of these bladder stones. A quick note - it is a lot less expensive to order from this website than to buy in a store or from the vet so I am very pleased about that. January 3, 2016
