Hill's Prescription Diet
Bladder stones are collections of mineral crystals that combine together in the urinary tract. They can cause discomfort and lead to more serious problems that require the care of a veterinarian. Because the food your dog eats plays an important role in his or her overall health and well-being, Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians have developed clinical nutrition especially formulated to help support your dog's bladder health. Dogs need the right balance of minerals to maintain good bladder health. Excess minerals can encourage the formation of crystals in the urine, which can lead to the creation of bladder stones.

Over 7 days, gradually decrease the amount of the current pet food while increasing the amount of new pet food. Unlike other cans I've received, this is stone hard.
on Apr 5, 2017
Unlike other cans I've received, the food in these cans is stone hard. Earlier ones from you and from Vet offices were soupy. I sure hope it still prevents my dog getting stones. It is harder than any other solid canned food I've had and I have 4 dogs!
I would like to return but it is so expensive, I can't see spending even more money on shipping. Was this a defective lot?
Cookie's new food

Cookie had a bladder stone and had to have surgery. Now she needs this special diet. She likes the taste and I was very happy that it came so quickly. She also is eating the dry food - I mix it.

One of my dogs needed to be on a prescription diet to reduce the crystals in her bladder, yet she would not eat the prescribed diet until we tried this. She is now content to eat her special food and her condition has improved.
My dogs can't get enough!

My 2 chihuahuas love this stuff! I give them each half a can each morning! I love how the food is not really "wet" dog food. The food has a low moisture content and crumbles very easily. It looks like ground beef once it's out of the can and mashed with a fork.
Great Deal on Hill's Prescription Diet Food

Chewy has great prices on Prescription Dog food. I would have bought a bag of the dry Hill's Prescription food had they had the smaller package. Our Multipoo also likes the dry food but the smaller package that we started with lasts 4 months or more.

My bichon is a picky eater and I was reluctant to buy this but she just loves it.
This is a great company to order from I ordered some dog treats and my dog didn't like them and they returned my money without me asking.
That pulled me in.............
My older dog loves the taste!

We have used Hill's c/d for about 7 years. My 14 year old Beagle/Corgi loves the taste of the pate and the stew. Minimizes the need for medication - no crystals, no stones, no problem!
The only thing I base it on is how the dog eats it. And that's a winner.

I was worried about changing the food because the dog is so picky. That seems to be no problem, just wish there was another flavor or two in case they get tired of it later.
Prescription diets can be tricky
on Feb 3, 2017
Our dog had a bad bout of bladder stones which were successfully dissolved with diet. In looking for a maintenance diet we tried dry plus two flavors of canned food. Our dog preferred another flavor/consistency of the canned food. We had to use additives to get him to eat this: don't know if it was the flavor or the drier, crumbly consistency.
