Rated 3 out of 5 by Missy2 Dog seems to find palatable, but kibble is too large
I started my dog on a combination of the wet and dry G/D two weeks ago per vet directive. I was surprised that the dry kibble is so large, bigger than two other Hills Science Diet prescription formulas I have used for other dogs in the past. All my dogs have been in 10-15 lb. range, and none could eat this size food. It's barrel shaped, not flat discs, so I added hot water to soften, but still she was spitting them onto floor and eating just the wet. I thought at first she didn't like it, but after I smashed them up and put back in dish, she ate fine. Now I smash up a cup at a time each day before putting in her dish with wet. I could just go with wet food only, but my dog is not even 2 yet, so I want to give her something she can chew and bite into for her teeth, not just mush. I don't know why Hills doesn't offer it in a smaller size, but at least she will eat it and that's what matters most right now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by lminer Noticed change within a couple weeks
My 13 year old shih tzu started drinking more water and having accidents, so I took her to the vet. After running several tests, he said it was just her kidneys slowing down and recommended this dog food. There was definitely a difference in her health within a couple of weeks. She isn't drinking as much water and no accidents. The only problem is the kibble is too large for her and she's not fond of the taste. I've tried wetting it down, but she won't have anything to do with it. So now I'm smashing it up and mixing it up into the canned g/d. She likes the canned, but still turns her nose up at the canned/dry mixture, which she will eventually eat when hungry enough. Having to smash it up is kind of pain, but she's worth it, so will keep doing it. I hope Hills will consider making a smaller kibble in this formula.

Both my dogs gained weight with GD and had loose stools all the time. Switched back to WD. Disappointed to loose the benefits of GD but not sustainable as a daily diet.

I wish the kibble came in smaller pieces for my toy dog with dental issues.

A 15 year old beagle girl with cushings, kidney & thyroid problems & on medications began not eating most of her regular food. Her vet recommended GD. Now she loves to eat both the canned & dry GD equally well.

by Carla Great results !
I have a 10 year old Samoyed that has had problems with wetting the bed and accidents in the house. We have tried several diet changes with no luck. When my vet suggested to try G/D, what a difference! No more accidents and she is acting like a puppy ! The diet made a great difference !

Rated 5 out of 5 by aimedaisy Low in phosphorus
G/d is low in phosphorus and good for my dogs' kidneys- they both love the taste. I even use pieces of the kibble as training treats outside of mealtime.
