Transition Instructions

A gradual transition to a new pet food is important to avoid digestive upset. To transition, mix your pet’s current food with the new food. Over 7 days, gradually decrease the amount of the current pet food while increasing the amount of new pet food. In some cases, your veterinarian may recommend no transition or a shorter transition time.

Customer Reviews

Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Care Low Fat Rice, Vegetable & Chicken Stew Canned Dog Food is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 121.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our dog is much better thanks to this food recommended by our vet Our dog was spitting and coughing up mucous and foam fairly often, and we tried several other dog foods with little success. Then our vet recommended the Hill's prescription diet i/d low fat (both canned and dry kibble), and it took some time but now our dog just loves this food, and all of his sensitive stomach problems have gone away. We are feeding him the dry kibble with a tablespoon of canned food mixed in 3 times per day. Thanks to Chewy.com, we are able to buy this relatively expensive dog food at more reasonable prices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hooray for i/d care low fat for my pup! We absolutely love this food. My dog struggles with pancreatitis and this is gentle, great quality and perfect for him. We continually go back to it even after being recommended other foods. This is a staple in our home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good enough for human consumption-at least it smells like it. my dog is 13 and will suffer from digestive issues. He loves this mixed with a bit of the dried version. It is too expensive for my budget however as a senior citizen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Food For Fussy Dogs I have a Morky with stomach issues. I have tried three different kinds and brands of prescription food. Large cans have to be sliced up and frozen because she eats so little at a time. I would say half of that food is wasted. On the other hand, these small cans have two benefits. One is they are lined, so using half can is easy with its "pop top", with the other half then put in the refrigerator with the cover over it and the result is always fresh tasting food with virtually no waste. My dog loves this stew looking food with its great chunks of meat. It smells delicious. Seriously, if it were labeled for human consumption I wouldn't hesitate to try it. I haven't, but it does smell wonderful, maybe that's why she eats it, she thinks she is getting human food. I don't know that for sure, but I do know I highly recommend this food especially for fussy eaters and small eaters. It saves time and money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yummy Our 10 year old pug loves his food. He has had previous stomach issues and his doctor recommended using prescriptive IDs as his food we have alternated between a low fat turkey and this chicken stew and rice. He seems to eat more of the chicken stew, not as filling as the other prescriptive ID food we buy. But he does love it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low fat dog food We are very pleased with the canned food we ordered. It was prescribed by our family veterinarian. We bought it out of their office and then found out we could order it on line. They recommended Chewy.com. I looked it up and ordered monthly delivery and got it in 2 days. Can't get better than that!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for Puppy with HGE and Seniors As Well My 1 1/2 yr old Opie has HGE and he loves this with 1/2 packet of Fortiflora probiotic added. My 16 1/2 year old loves it as well. I chop it into a finer paste and chop up the carrots or they spit out the carrots....but they love it....
