  • Good as a Food/ Lousy as a Wrap for Medication

My 6 yr. old Springer Spaniel has elevated liver enzymes and Copper Storage Disease so she ABSOLUTELY needs to eat only a prescription liver diet. I had been using the Hills L/D canned to wrapped her various medications in but very recently the food has been EXTREMELY crumbly, making it VERY difficult to wrapped her various meds in a ball of canned food. I really didn't want to, but I had to switch to Royal Canin Liver Diet canned for this purpose. If you don't have to use the Hills L/D as a "pill hider", it's a good topper to add to the dry food. I only wish that my girl hadn't developed these 2 horrible diseases so she could go back to eating Acana but I am VERY glad that these options exist My 6 yr. old Springer Spaniel has elevated liver enzymes and Copper Storage Disease so she ABSOLUTELY needs to eat only a prescription liver diet. I tried home cooking after meeting with a certified veterinary nutritionist but it was just too much work and too expensive. So thank goodness for Hills and Royal Canin L/D. … more

  • Great food

    By on

My little Shih Tzu has a liver shunt and the vet prescribe this food for him. He loves it and I throw a little dry LD in it and he cleans his bowl. We have noticed a big difference in him after we started using it. I use to get it from our veterinary and just started getting it from Chewy and it is a lot fresher.

  • Excellent support for liver

    By on

When our recently-adopted dog was diagnosed with an abnormally small liver, the Vet put our dog on a liver support diet and provided some samples of this product. Our dog loves this food and eats every bit during feeding! I give this product 4 out of 5 stars because it relies on soy-based protein which does cause a little gassiness. All in all, it provides all the necessary nutrition and is very cost-effective.

  • this product is convenient to order and use

    By on

Since the store was out of stock on this item we decided to try the online thing. We weren't sure if my dog was going to like it as he is a little finicky when it comes to what he eats, but from the first time we tried it...he loves it. Although you need a prescription to get it the whole process is pretty smooth. Don't know if it will help his liver problem yet but maybe by his next check up we can see improvements if so we will get on the autoship program.
