I've waited to write this review until we had the latest lab test back on our 12 year old smooth collie, Serena. We have struggled since a life-threatening bout of pancreatitis last December trying to get her AST/ALT numbers down. While she started feeling better after the initial crisis, her labwork still showed unacceptably high AST/ALKP readings after being on Denamarin for a month. Hill's Prescription Diet L/D (dry & canned) has made the biggest difference of all. We transitioned very slowly to the L/D, taking two weeks to completely move to 100% L/D diet. She LOVES the Hill's L/D, whereas she did not like Royal Canin's equivalent canned food. Since the lab work was done a month ago, Serena's AST dropped from 989 U/L to 558 U/L. Normal AST range is between 10-125 U/L for adult dogs. Her ALKP dropped from 500 to 401, with normal range being 23-212 U/L. Obviously we still have a way to go before hitting normal ranges, but this is the first truly encouraging change in numbers that we've seen since December. She will be on Hill's L/D Prescription diet for the rest of her life, and we hope to see even better numbers next month.… more
Good as a Food/ Lousy as a Wrap for Medication

My 6 yr. old Springer Spaniel has elevated liver enzymes and Copper Storage Disease so she ABSOLUTELY needs to eat only a prescription liver diet. I had been using the Hills L/D canned to wrapped her various medications in but very recently the food has been EXTREMELY crumbly, making it VERY difficult to wrapped her various meds in a ball of canned food. I really didn't want to, but I had to switch to Royal Canin Liver Diet canned for this purpose. If you don't have to use the Hills L/D as a "pill hider", it's a good topper to add to the dry food. My little Shih Tzu has a liver shunt and the vet prescribe this food for him. He loves it and I throw a little dry LD in it and he cleans his bowl. We have noticed a big difference in him after we started using it. I use to get it from our veterinary and just started getting it from Chewy and it is a lot fresher.
Great product for my dogs needs

My dog loves this and my other dogs wish they could have it too! Also it's fresh. I got some from my vet and it definitely was not fresh.
Excellent support for liver

When our recently-adopted dog was diagnosed with an abnormally small liver, the Vet put our dog on a liver support diet and provided some samples of this product. Our dog loves this food and eats every bit during feeding! I give this product 4 out of 5 stars because it relies on soy-based protein which does cause a little gassiness. All in all, it provides all the necessary nutrition and is very cost-effective.
this product is convenient to order and use

Since the store was out of stock on this item we decided to try the online thing. We weren't sure if my dog was going to like it as he is a little finicky when it comes to what he eats, but from the first time we tried it...he loves it. Although you need a prescription to get it the whole process is pretty smooth. Don't know if it will help his liver problem yet but maybe by his next check up we can see improvements if so we will get on the autoship program.

My dog needs this diet for his liver and he loves it.

This was our first order with Chewy. Everything was very easy, from finding our product to receiving the shipment. The product is great and we are going to now add to it!
This food actually has helped my dog.

Reservations whether my dog would eat this food. He not only likes it, he gobbles it. Dog has liver disease and after being on the liver formula, he is so much better.
