Customer Reviews

Hill's Prescription Diet l/d Liver Care Pork Flavor Dry Dog Food is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 107.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Used as an addition to home made diet. My lab mix is getting a home made recipe of tofu and cottage cheese with many supplements and a daily vitamin. I wanted to try a dry food to give myself a bit of a break from preparing food every 5 days and a crunchy food to keep her teeth from accumulating so much plaque. I ordered the food online and got immediate delivery. I gave her a handful of kibble and she gobbled it down with no hesitation. The next day I continued her morning and evening home recipe and left her the bowl of kibble to nibble on during the day. The first day she loved it but the next day not so much. I continue to decrease the amount of the home diet and increase the dry kibble. She seems to prefer to have the kibble in addition to the home recipe but is not so interested in the kibble exclusively. I was hoping I could rely on just the kibble but I may have to just supplement with it. By her eating the dry kibble she can get the vitamins she needs, I can save money on groceries, free up time from shopping and preparing and save refrigerator space! We are not giving up yet!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hope it works for the price My dog is eating the food every now and then, but she doesn't want it everyday. She loved the dry dog food before this one. However, what I had to do was buy some of this brands canned dog food to mix with it. But wow, was this very expensive. I hope it will work for her. I need to observe my dog more before I could decide to recommend or not recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dog didn't like it by week 4. Someone else had a similar review. My 11yo lab who has primary copper storage disease ate this food just fine for about 4 weeks. Then suddenly he doesn't want it. We have another dog in the house, so our dog just sits and stares at the old food bin and tries to get the other dog's food. Ironically, the other dog wants to eat the L/D food. I've tried mixing in bits of rice, cottage cheese, and boiled chicken breast. However, he tries to just eat those bits. This dog has always eaten everything, even non-food items, so I'm just baffled. However, he has to be on this low copper diet. It's incredibly frustrating. I wonder if the chelation drugs have caused a change in his taste preferences or if this was just an inevitable realization that the stuff I'm putting in his bowl isn't as tasty as the old stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This food saved my pup We got a dog from the shelter and she was severely malnourished and underweight. We tried everything to get her weight up to no avail. It turns out she has an inoperable system of liver shunts. However once we put her on this food she went from 12 pounds to 17 and is a completely different dog. Now she is happy and playful. Getting the stuff delivered automatically makes it super easy to keep her healthy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hill's LD Liver Care is wonderful. I have just recently purchased this food; therefore, I can't comment on its effectiveness as to the treatment of liver problems. My dog is a standard poodle --11years old---recently diagnosed with copper storage disease. He is a fairly finicky eater and has NEVER eaten a dry dog food in his life without mixing it with chicken and broth. He eats this dry out of my hand. My other 2 SPs try to eat this food nstead of their regular very high quality food So I can attest to the fact that even picky dogs love it--at least mine does. I will have to give it more time before I can tell if the food, along with myriad meds and vitamins, helps with this disease.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product Our dog's specimen analysis was best ever. NO glucose in urine and specific gravity elevated, which has been consistently low. Vet said results were amazing and attributed the results to change in diet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from She eats it!!! My yorkie was born with a liver disease and can only eat the Liver Health food from Hills Prescription Diet. She actually eats it! I slice carrots and cook them to serve with the above food.
