Description

Bladder stones are collections of mineral crystals that combine together in the urinary tract. They can cause discomfort and lead to more serious problems that require the care of a veterinarian. Because the food your dog eats plays an important role in his or her overall health and well-being, Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians have developed clinical nutrition especially formulated to help support your dog's bladder health. Dogs need the right balance of minerals to maintain good bladder health. Excess minerals can encourage the formation of crystals in the urine, which can lead to the creation of bladder stones.

Key Benefits

  • Controlled levels of high quality, highly digestible protein reduces the risk of non-struvite stone formation
  • Reduced levels of calcium helps limit the formation of bladder stones
  • Added taurine and high levels of L-carnitine help maintain healthy heart muscle function
  • Added antioxidants to control cell oxidation and promote a healthy immune system
  • Promotes desirable urine pH levels and supports an overall healthy immune system

Special Note

Hill's Prescription Diet u/d Urinary Care Original Dry Dog Food is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always a pleasure doing business with you!!! Even though the price was not cheaper, than the regular store price, it was a convenient way of combining a food order for the different pets. The order was delayed for about a day and a half due to chewy.com need to contact the veterinarian to confirm the Rx order.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great food but could be better This food serves its intended purpose. My dog had a rare type of bladder stones that lead to a blockage that the doctor believes he's had since birth. Instead of performing surgery, the doctor recommended this food in hopes that it would help the stones dissolve naturally. With in a few weeks, my baby was himself again and going to the bathroom like normal. I give this food 4/5 stars because of the taste. My dogs eats just about anything but he doesn't like this food. Since we are feeding this to save his life and really had no choice, he eventually gave in and ate it. If you are having a similar problem, put a bit of water on his or her food. This worked for our dog and he eventually got use to it. Since this food is expensive, I would try the water on a small amount of food first so, if your dog still refuses to eat, you won't waste too much food. Remember though, your dogs main focus is survival. He or she will eat the food eventually if it is the only thing you offer. I know it can be difficult to see your pet struggle but this food can save his or her life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Satisfied with product and vendor My dog eats U/D food which you can only get from a licensed vendor (ie: the vet or Petsmart where they have vets). I order my other dogs food on Amazon but unfortunately we can't get this on Amazon. Love that Chewy has it and has auto ship! Buster has been on this food for quite a number of years. He still has some stones but they are very very small and he hasn't had to have surgery since starting this food. Overall, very satisified.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Awesome! My Itty Bitty can only eat hill's prescription u/d, and I could only get it at my vets office. It was always a hassle. I received my order in 2 days! Free shipping, a discount, and I didn't have to go to my vets office to pick it up! Best price, and auto ship = extremely happy customer. Thank you Chewy.com!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Results Male Shih Tzu has been on this for 5 years due to bladder stones. Until he started this, he had 3 surgeries, including a emergency neuter. He was only 14 months when he had his first! Then he had 2, a week apart, when he was 3. He is happy and healthy and I owe it to Hills RX Science Diet U/D and my Vet!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great flavor. I mix this with the wet canned food for my dog's breakfast. But he gets just this dry food for his dinner and he still loves it. I'm so thankful. I just hope it helps to dissolve his kidney crystals. Time will tell.
