Description

Himalayan Dog Chew is a very hard chew. Although cheese, it is sometimes popularly referred to as Concrete, Glass, Wood and Metal. Depending on the size and eating habits of the dog, this is a very long-lasting dog chew. Dogs must work the end of the treat for hours, softening it with their mouths before small parts of it can be slowly scraped off.

Himalayan Dog Chew is 100% natural with no preservatives. It is an authentic type of cheese eaten by the people of the Himalayas. When you give this chew to your dog, you know that you are providing them with hours of high quality eating entertainment.

Key Benefits

  • Made from 100% yak and cow milk, salt, and lime juice, and takes hours of chewing to soften it enough to scrape a tasty bite off
  • All-natural treat, no binding agents, and is grain & gluten free
  • Great for removing plaque and promoting oral health
  • Low odor and non-staining
  • Fully digestible and a healthy treat

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 80 lb German Shepherd loves these First time I gave this to her, it did take her a week or so before she really got into it. Tried microwaving as in the directions, she really didn't like that - too hot then suddenly cold and solid again; somewhat confusing. Now that she gets one every other week as an alternative chew treat/toy (rather than our shoes!) and she absolutely loves them. Found it was worth the slightly higher cost for the XLarge to last longer. Sometimes she eats one over the course of a day or two and sometimes she will linger over it for a week. Who knows why...dogs are individuals too. FYI - if your dog likes to bury hard treats like this, keep an eye on where it is so you can unbury. Since it is real cheese, when buried in dirt (flower bed preferred by my furbaby) it will start to grow mold in a week or so depending on the moisture level. I unbury it after a couple of days and she gets so excited with her 'new' treat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for the big beasties I gave this to my just under 70 pound Great Pyrenees mix, expecting it to be a nice alternative to the antlers that she usually gets to chew. I gave it to her, sent out an email message, looked up and it was gone. Completely eaten in about 15 minutes. Since I was expecting this to last for days if not weeks, I was alarmed--did a bit of searching to make sure she hadn't merely scooted it under furniture....Nope, she had simply chewed it up and eaten it. Then I got worried that she had swallowed a huge piece of very hard cheese and that it might cause problems in her belly. I did a search to see if others had had this experience--I read about plenty of digestive issues. Fortunately, my girlie didn't get sick and if she did swallow a large piece, it passed through her without any issues. She was, perhaps, a little gassy for a couple of days, but nothing too bad. But, it was an expensive treat to be eaten so quickly--not one that I'd be likely to repeat. I think this is probably a great treat for the smaller, less strong-jawed pups...mine is at the upper end of the recommended weight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Long-lasting chew, can also make "popcorn" bites from leftovers My dog loved the first couple of these, and they lasted days when other chews lasted mere hours. My pup is notoriously-picky and got tired of them after the first ones, but her friends give them four paws up and were happy to take them off her hands. They won't last as long if your dog is big enough to get them between their molars and crunch pieces off, but mine was never that motivated. They're like a really, really dense and hard peanut brittle, so judge your dog's chewing style and how motivated they are to finish a chew before expecting these to last "forever". My favorite part, and very weirdly fun, is smashing them with a hammer and microwaving them! They puff up and turn into crunchy, biscuit-like bits. I try to get them into small marble-size chunks, and give them around 2 minutes in the microwave. They'll puff up before your eyes, sort of like slow-motion popcorn. Stop the microwave when they stop expanding or they will scorch. They will be VERY HOT, be careful handling them and wait until they cool before giving them to your pet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dog Loved it and it Lasted We have a large 80 lb. Australian Shepherd who needs to be kept busy. He has "jaws of steel" and will completely eat a large heavy duty bully stick in 30 minutes or less. Most bones also don't last long and leave sharp shards and make a mess. I was skeptical ordering this, wondering if he would like it and if it would last. He chewed on it every night for about a week! It just slowly "whittled" down to nothing, looking almost like a grated block of cheese. No mess and he also seemed to really like it. Best thing we've found for him to chew on to date! Will be ordering several with my next order.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great chew makes my standard poodle happy I had tried other "natural" chews that were healthy but they were just too hard and she would give up on them and I was afraid she would break a tooth. Others were not healthy, I did not like how they were processed. I was sooo happy to discover the Himalayan Dog Chew. She loves it. She weighs about 42 pounds and has a long narrow snout/muzzel. The 55 lb size is a perfect fit. She can hold it upright in her paws and chew on the end. She will turn her head sideways and use her back teeth. Helps to keep them clean. I use it as a soon after dinner treat and she will happily chew for a long time. As soon as she stops I pick it up and put it away. That way it is a special treat. I did learn that you cannot toss it across the ceramic tile floor - it will break. I forgot it wasn't a real bone. But I followed the directions and microwaved the broken halves. Thanks for such a wonderful product. I will order more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING!!!! A friend recommended this when we discussed how my big wolfhound mix loves his bones. Problem is, I hate the mess, the smell and the stains he leaves behind when he's done. So on her rec. I bought one of these. It came 2 days ago and he is obcessed with it. He even takes it outside with him, leaves it right outside the door, goes and does his business, then picks it back up when he comes back in. Even after 2 days of non stop work on it, its still good sized, dry and no smell or staining. I am definitely buying this again

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't Last Long It took my 2 year old German Sheppard less than 2 hours to devour this chew. Obviously, he liked it but it did not last as advertised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Recommend! This is our 13lb dogs go to chewy. She does not get sick of them at all. She has been eating them for over a year. We go through 1 bag a month. When they get small you can put them in the microwave and they will puff up and you can give it back to dog. She does not like it that way. So when it is small we take it from her. In the stores they are very, very expensive. The sizes are usually all equal. The last bag I got had a smaller one in it, which I am not sure I will give it to her. Should have called them right away. But did not open bag until last week and the order was from Jan. I am sure that they would have taken care of it. It is made from all natural ingredients which we love. A friend of ours has a portuguese water dog and he flings them around and they crack easily when dropped from a high place. That has only happened to us 1x. It does take a while for her to go through the chewy usually a week.
