I have an almost 2 year old boxer who has colitis. It seemed like every other day he had a tummy ache and no desire to eat. I have tried lots of other foods with him and previous boxers with the same issue, I saw this mentioned by someone on a forum and I decided to try it. He is on his second week on this food and we have had ZERO tummy issues. He is enthusiastic to eat which has never happened with him before. Since this food is a little more expensive then I usually spend I feed him 1 1/2 cups of this food and 1 cup brown rice and chicken for breakfast and the same for dinner. I'm hoping to make the food last a bit longer. The rice and chicken also help give the food a little more texture I have an almost 2 year old boxer who has colitis. I'm very thankful this is working so far it killed me to see him so miserable. If you have a dog with stomach issue I HIGHLY recommend trying this. … more

  • Excellent quality

I have switched to this flavor in honest kitchen as it's slightly less calories and my dog is not very active as he is disabled, he has enjoyed several of the honest kitchen foods and he ate this immediately with no hesitation. Honest kitchen is an excellent food, always consistent, no variation between boxes and I know exactly what's in it.

  • My Pit Bull LOVES it!

    By on

My Baloo is a rescue dog, he's 10 and I've had him for maybe 7 years. When I got him from a neglectful owner, he was rail thin and his skin and coat were in terrible shape. He's not quite the picky eater that my Lab is but he's just real choosy about his food. I've been feeding this for almost two weeks now and his coat has never looked better and I've been feeding him Blue Buffalo. He eats this much better and he's always happy to eat! Great job Honest Kitchen.

  • Dogs seem to like it....

    By on

My dogs seem to like the Verve Beef Recipe, but I just reordered and am trying the Love Turkey recipe....well, I'm not trying it...my dogs are....the only thing I might question is that "the 10# box is the equivalent of a 40# of [dry]" ...I assume it's 40# of dry....I don't see how it can be...I am feeding 1 18# dog and 1 50# dog and it looks like it might last 3 weeks...that's much quicker than I would use a 40# bag of dry food...

  • My dogs love it!

I am surprised that my dogs like this food. They are Husky mixes, and they have had other wet dog foods, but this one they have not grown tired of. I do put just a little coconut oil on top, and they really eat it up. And I feel really good about feeding it to them.

  • Not her favorite

    By on

I love The Honest Kitchen foods. My Dobergirl does better on them than any other food I've tried, and I've tried a bunch due to her sensitive stomach. I'd bought the Verve (beef) variety because my Dobergirl usually loves anything with beef. Sadly, my girl doesn't like this variety at all. Instead, I bought her some Embark (expensive, grain-free turkey) which is her favorite flavor and mix it with the Keen (turkey with oatmeal and stuff) and she's a happy girl.

  • Piece of Mind

    By on

With all of the conflicting info on what is or is not in dry dog food I am 100% confident when feeding my dogs The Honest Kitchen that they are eating a quality food. The ingredient list is transparent...none of the ingredients is disguised or made to sound nutritious when it is not. My dogs devour their food, and I have the piece of mind knowing they're actually eating food and not chemicals or by-products. This food also cleared up the yeast on their paws and jaw lines.

  • Looks gross, but dogs love !

    By on

My vet is very happy that we are feeding are dogs on this food she says it is an excellent food to feed are dogs on. I highly recommend this dog food it helped extend the lifespan of our elderly dogs. I mix it up with hot water and let it set course you have to Stir It but after it hydrates it's still going to look like much but the dogs love it. Because of my elderly small dogs I mix it a little thin and add some olive oil for their skin or flaxseed oil or fish oil depending on what your dog likes. It is a safe food to feed it gives them energy for the you might have to experiment what thickness your dogs prefer to eat it at. I add cut up apple on the side.

  • Can't even describe how much my dog loves this food

    By on

She loves it so much she stands by my side, licking her chops the entire three minute wait until I set it down for her. Then she gobbles it up in about 30 seconds, lol. But what's more is the mood change. She's so much healthier and happier. And we have always fed her high quality food like Orijen and others that are similar in quality, and I've always been very happy with them, but there is something different in the honest kitchen. Her digestion seems better as well. I could not be happier with this food.

  • Works Great! (Looks like green puke!)

My 14 1/2 yr old Labrador was stricken with pancreatitis twice in two months. The vet didn't offer much hope at her age. When she improved enough to go on a modified diet I began to search for a healthy food that was easier than boiling chicken and rice! That's when my groomer/trainer told me about HONEST KITCHEN! I checked with our Vet and he said to try it. The powder smells like a cross between stuffing mix and a seasoning pack inside Ramon Noodles, seriously! I followed the directions on the box (mix with warm water and let stand 3 minutes.) Well it looked like watery puke! But my dogs tail was wagging and she was whining for the mixing bowl. I put it down for her and she sucked it down My 14 1/2 yr old Labrador was stricken with pancreatitis twice in two months. The vet didn't offer much hope at her age. I put it down for her and she sucked it down like there was steak and potatoes in the bowl! The best part.. SHE KEPT IT DOWN! About 5 hours later, she ate more! Its been a week now and she's eating 3 times a day and up playing again. A miracle at 14 1/2 yes old! I ordered a 10 pound box this time. If this is what iit takes to keep her from suffering with pancreatitis, I will pay what I have too, She's my baby. "Note: If you want thicker mush, use the directed amount of water but let it stand 15-20 minutes. If you don't use the recommended amount of water it smells very very strong. I would imagine the taste is more concentrated as well. Letting it stand longer works just fine because it is dehydrated after all." … more
