  • AWESOME FOR CHOWS

    By on

It is so hard to find dog-specific info. If you have a Chow or a Pom-type fluffy dog with thick hair and a good undercoat, you will love this. My Chow loves this more than his slicker brush. The teeth are rounded at the end so it doesn't matter that there is no plastic on the teeth, I've rubbed it on my arm and it doesn't hurt. He's been shedding quite a bit with the cold weather but we got our first snow the other day and I could not keep up with the amount of hair coming off of him. Use this outside! Because so much fluff comes off and floats around. This is the 4th brush I've purchased because of his shedding (he's a new rescue dog) and this is the only thing that can get the shedding undercoat It is so hard to find dog-specific info. It does not pull out any good hair and it does not cut any hair. It only removes the loose undercoat that has been shed and is trapped under the top coat. … more

He has lost 8 more dogs of hair with this brush! First time using it but durability seems great as well. I would recommend this to anyone!

  • Not that effective

    By on

This didn't pull a lot of hair out of my extremely hairy pom-chi. Reading the packaging, it doesnt claim to be a deshedder, but a "grooming tool". I needed a deshedder tool.

  • Works great!

My lab/mastiff started his yearly shedding and it's the worse it's ever been. Tried this brush and in 5 minutes this brush worked so well, his coat was was back to normal! I will say it feels very light and plasticky, but it works well. My husky hasn't blown her coat yet so I'll have to wait to see how it works for that much undercoat, but thus far it seems to work well for her weekly brushing.

  • Comfortable in your hand and easy to brush!

    By on

The double row coat rake really gets in there to whisk away the fine undercoat for our two German Shepherds. The rake points are long and have a rounded tip. They can easily get down to the skin without pressure, sometimes a bit too easy, so you have to be gentle when brushing - and for two large shepherd with a lot of undercoat this brush handles the task well. The handle is really comfy too!

  • Not what I hoped

    By on

After reading the reviews, I thought this brush was going to be fantastic. I have a golden retriever. She sheds a lot, but maybe not as much as others who wrote reviews. The brush is great for her bushy tail, but I prefer a blade for her undercoat. This brush just didn't grip the undercoat well enough to thoroughly groom her. I may feel different next spring when her winter coat sheds.

  • Really does a good job

    By on

This does a really good job helping to de-shed my Aussie shepherd's undercoat. Between this and a top coat brush, his coat has immensely improved. My only negative (which can be mitigated by the user) is that the tips are not dull. You have to be very gentle on your dog's skin and not pull/press to hard. This is probably true of most brushes.

  • Better than FURminator brush (but don't use indoors)

    By on

I was a devot FURminator user. I have a min-Aussie-Shepherd mix and a German Shedder so there is a ridiculous amount of hair happening in my house. This brush gentle on their skin, the deeper prongs make it so I don't have to stop mid stroke to empty the brush (a lot of shedding happening here people). The only downfall, which I happily accept, is since the prongs are wider and deeper (more gentle on my pups) the hair will fly off when brushing. I brush my pups in the back yard so it is not a problem. I would not recommend using this indoors unless you plan to vacuum immediately after.

  • WORKS WELL

    By on

I have a Border Collie and an Australian Shepherd. Both with double coats. While neither of them really likes being groomed with an undercoat rake, it does a really good job. I don't think the teeth are too sharp as some have said. I just think it is a bit uncomfortable for them to feel that pull as the dead hair gets pulled out. So, they wiggle and complain but in the end I feel it does a good job of keeping the undercoat clean and dead hair out. We alternate with a soft brushing of the top coat, which they don't mind at all:) As always with Chewy, a good product at a fair price and fast delivery!
