Grooming Tips

Regular brushing helps remove shed fur so your pet's coat stays soft and tangle-free. These ergonomically designed slicker brushes help keep your muscles more relaxed, yet give you better control of the grooming. Stainless steel pins on the brush help prevent mats. When grooming, brush in the direction of your pet's hair growth, taking care to use gentle strokes.

Remove hair from the grooming tools weekly and wash with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.

  • VERY COMFORTABLE BRUSH

    By on

This is the most comfortable slicker brush I've purchased to date, nice and sturdy. The round head is also nice for my 2 small Yorkies. It is easier to maneuver than my previous square headed brush. It is not harsh and the dogs like being brushed with it. I was only surprised that it is larger than I thought it would be.

  • Louie's slicker brush

soft pin sort of, maybe because Louie is still a puppy...he doesn't like me using the brush on him...but he is getting better at tolerating it

  • Excellent knot remover.

    By on

We have 2 long hair rescue chihuahuas and 1 short hair. The long haired chihuahuas tend to knot up behind the ears where the hair is at the longest point. This brush used twice weekly in addition to their normal grooming brush daily does help to keep the knots away. This is a little larger than what I would have liked making it less user friendly for smaller dogs however. The bristles/pins are fine and close knitted making it a good choice for trickier type grooming. All 3 of our little ones line up when they see this brush come out so I am assuming that the feel is wonderful and they remain very calm and near sleeping while being groomed... indicating that the "pins" are of no issue to them! • Love this brush!

This brush has a very comfortable handle and it's easy on the wrist. It also does a really good job of brushing dogs who have sensitive skin.

  • Good brush

    By on

2 of my cats prefer the old-school scratchy brush. One cat prefers this rounded-tip brush. If your cat is sensitive, get this brush! Worth the $$

  • Didn't do anything

    By on

This brush did absolutely nothing to remove loose hairs from my short-haired chihuahua's coat. It just sort of skimmed the surface of her fur. Additionally, she didn't like being brushed with it. I would return it, but at $4.99 or whatever it cost, it's not really worth a trip to the post office.

  • Good size for small or toy dogs

I don't feel any differences between my Four Paws old and JW new slicker brush. If not for JW smaller head brush. I like the Four Paws slicker brush better . They made good contour handle, smooth handling. For rolling pins brush, JW brand made the best.

  • Too harsh

    By on

My puppy hated this brush but he is very young and hates to be groomed. I tried to be gentle but he would not be still. The pins are not very soft. The brush worked well enough on the very small patch I was able to groom. I gave up and used a simple nail brush which is fine while he's young. I'll try the Slicker brush again when he's grown a bit!
