Rated 4 out of 5 by RVT1996 Best OTC option to kill fleas & ticks
As a Registered Veterinary Nurse for 20+ years, I have had experience using several products that promise to kill fleas and ticks. I have found that K9 Advantix is the most effective and safest product available now without requiring a veterinarian's prescription. For dogs well over 55 pounds, use 2 tubes to provide sufficient coverage. Because this product is a liquid, it's best applied along the spine at night when the dog will be sleeping to give the liquid a chance to dry before being licked or rubbed off. Takes about 30 min. to dry. It leaves an oily spot on fabrics or carpets if spilled or dog rubs against furniture or carpet so I can't give this a 5.

I started using this product when Frontline quit working for my dogs. I just apply once a month and don't see any fleas or ticks on them.
