To measure length, have your pup stand upright. Measure the distance between the base of his neck (where his head joins his body) and the base of his tail (where his tail connects to his body). To measure neck, measure the circumference of your pup's neck at its widest point (where his neck meets his body) while he is standing. Note that this measurement is for dog clothing, not for collars. To measure girth (chest), as your pup stands, place one end of the measuring tape on his spine behind his shoulders. Wrap the tape around the widest part of his rib cage, up to the other side of his body, and back to his spine where the tape starts.

Outward Hound PupSaver Ripstop Dog Life Jacket is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 264.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great flotation with handles! If you're looking for peace of mind, then here's the life vest for you! This life vest is perfect for my 67 lb. Siberian Husky. She is a great swimmer, but is getting older and I just wanted to make sure that she could spend a lot of time in the water without being afraid that she would drown. The handles on this vest are great because you can pull your dog in with ease. The sizing is a little tricky and I ended up with an XL (even though if I went by the weight, she would have been just a large). I ordered the large first and the Velcro flaps just barely touched and it was obviously too small, so I ordered the XL and it fits perfect! Do yourself a favor and size up (especially if you want them some room to grow). She has plenty of room in the XL, but you can see by the pictures that it fits her perfectly. She never really likes "wearing" things, but actually put this on with no problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't Second Guess! If you are thinking about buying the Outward Hound PupSaver Ripstop life jacket, don't second guess yourself! I am one to read reviews until my eyes cross and if I see even a few bad reviews I will look at another product. Boy, am I glad that I decided to go with this life jacket. I have a yellow lab (65 lbs) and she fits perfectly in the Large size. She is one to squirm when anything is put on her, and she didn't even flinch with this. She swam and swam and swam, and I was able to rest easy knowing that she had the additional floatation support. We take her on Lake Michigan which gets incredibly choppy and rough at times, but with this she swam with no problems. I ordered on a Monday morning and received the product by Tuesday afternoon. Everything from searching for the product to actually using the product was flawless. I have looked into many other life jackets, and would buy this again without thinking twice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used instead of a cone for rear surgery Honestly, I need to patent a device like this My dog had hip surgery and with this thing on she could not reach the stiches, much better than a cone. Kinda like limited mobility device That's stiff as heck Plus we could pick her up and place her in the lawn to poo and pee with the handle until she was better

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems to be excellent quality The life jacket seems to be excellent quality. I say seems because it is winter here and we cannot try it. I do have another to compare it to, this is the second life jacket for canine we have owned and I must say, this one might be made a tad better. It has a great chin float in case the dog gets tired they don't have to vigorously paddle to keep their head out of the water. Price was excellent, workmanship is very nice. I think the size might run a bit small ~ fine for our dog, size small and she is a miniature pincher that might be a bit on the high side of the girth ( a tad overweight) The jacket itself on her reaches all the way around on her with the floatation part ~>each side.touching. she could not weigh anymore. Her weight was almost 14 lbs when we bought this jacket. The jacket is designed to be able to be used even if the sides don't reach because there is overlapping Velcro. All in all the jacket is near.perfect ~>very happy with quality

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Life Jacket is perfect for getting a crippled dog downstairs My arthritic dog can no longer make it down the steep colonial era staircase in my home, although he whines to come up and be with me every night. For weeks, I carefully studied the design and features of all dog harnesses available for helping crippled or senior dogs. None seemed suitable because of poor design relating to the comfort of straps around the belly and chest, a short strap that hooked into the dog collar pulling unfairly at the dog's neck, and all had manageability issues relating to the dog's weight distribution versus the placement of handles on the harness for lifting the dog. A best choice was the sturdiest harness on the market at well over $100. A friend suggested a doggie life jacket. I want to exclaim over the brilliance of his suggestion. The Outward Hound Life Jacket could not be more perfect for carrying a heavy dog comfortably and safely down my steep staircase. I spent around $20. If it starts to fall apart, I'll get another one just like it because the life jacket has extended my dog's quality of life. I am a satisfied customer. Please share this idea with everyone you know who is considering a harness for helping a dog with staircases.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect After reviewing several life jackets for our Yorkie we decided on the outward hound and so glad we did, it fits perfectly, he has a long body and this spans his whole back and he feels so confident and comfortable he begs us to put it on so he can go swimming, it has great buoyancy (he is a huge Yorkie, 23 lbs.) and the under chin feature is an extra feature that adds extra security, esp for us when he's in the water a long time because we swim from our boat in very deep water and he wants to stay in the water for long periods of time and he loves to stop paddling and just float and this allows him to just relax, we've used it about 10 times (we keep it on him allday while in the boat) but shows absolutely no wear at all, it's very well made and the wide belly band with the 2 straps on top allows us to pick him up out of the water with ease, thank you for making such a high quality, well thought out product!!
