MidWest Exercise Pen with Step-Thru Door, Black E-Coat is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 607.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pen with one exception. Exercise pens are great to have on hand! We use ours for travel when visiting family out of town that aren't very fond of animals (I know right, there are actually people out there like that!?) oh well that's a different review :) They aren't fond about having our little Dachshund running around their home (even though she's extremely well behaved & housetrained) so we have used a pen to keep her contained while visiting for the day. And have used the pen at home twice for minor surgery recovery. We had a taller pen from another company but wanted a shorter pen for ease of travel etc. We got the 24" and it's great except for one thing, the panels are permanently fixed together whereas the other pen we had you could remove a nut & pin from each panel to make the pen smaller if needed. But despite this minor inconvenience I'd still highly recommend this product just wanted to make others aware in case they wanted to make it smaller. You can fold it in to some degree and decrease the real estate.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not stable enough for indoors The 42 inch Ex-pen is not stable enough for inside. The plastic seam joiners that are to be attached do nothing. In fact, one came off and my puppy was chewing on it. I took them all off. The 42" height adds to the instability. Smaller dogs that can use shorter height pens might be fine. My puppy is a three month old Spinone female about 30 some pounds. This product would be fine for outdoors as metal stakes are included. I called the company to make sure the "stabilizers" were correctly installed;they were. I was told the pen was for outside. If I had known that, I would not have planned to use it inside. I am going to stabilize with pvc pipe. I have to brace the pen with objects, so it does not shift and move all over the floor. Without additional bracing , I think she could upend it in the future. I like the door;it is convenient. The pen folds down easily and isn't too heavy. The company needs to figure out a better bracing system or advertise it for outdoor use only.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs Reinforcement I bought 2-36" gates to attach for my jumpy rat terriers. Quality is average. I used this outside under a canopy, so the ground anchors were obsolete. Corner stabilizers work ONLY for the octagon configuration and not for any other; therefore, I gave them instead to my puppies as chew toys. I reinforced the exercise pen with bricks all along the bottom of the panels. Except for the door, I probably could have purchased a roll of galvanized wire at Home Depot for half the price and it would have done the trick. Lazy purchase on my part. If I had the time, I probably would have done the latter. Boxes arrived a day late and instructions were easy to follow. I recommend this product for totally chilled or comatose dogs. If you have a large dog or one with any strength, it will probably knock over the panels. I give this product 3 stars because it is flimsier than I expected, it needed reinforcement and it is average for an online purchase. I recommend this product for anyone who wants a quick fix or doesn't have the time to construct a sturdier version.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works I would not recommend this for a large dog or an aggressive escapee. I think this is more for a pet that would not really try to get out. It's easy to move around when on a smooth floor. It will start to lose it's shape If moved to much. The little caps that come with it that is supposed to hold it in place are useless. They need a better idea for that. I could see where this would be great outside for a temporary hold if you were at a garden party or somewhere where you need to contain your pets but allow them some room to move. I would recommend it but don't be overly enthusiastic about what you're getting here. I also would never leave a pet unattended in it. It is what it is.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It does what it advertises but there are major flaws! I bought 2 so here goes: Indoor use: No matter how I set up the design of the pen my 11 week old English Bulldog puppy can move it through the house. She has learned to push at the folding points and can go any where she pleases... This pen must be weighted down or put a barricade around it so it can't be moved as it is very light! It has been tough enough to handle all her chewing though. Outdoor use: Has worked fairly well so far as I placed all the stakes in the ground to hold it in position however I did add a few extra's that I had from a different pen just for reassurance. The only issue (which is the reason you buy the pen in the first place) is that she has learned where the door is & has figured out that if she jumps up on it that it will move the panel forward just enough that the locks will slide out and she is free! The slide bar for locking should have an L shape to be more secure in my opinion. I purchased 2 metal clips to use to keep the door closed....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice! We attached this to our MidWest life stages crate to create a fun indoor play area for our puppy while we are out. Not a fan of the optional plastic parts that are supposed to keep sections straight, but overall a great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I use as a barrier for areas I don't want my dogs to enter. I have 3 of these pens that I use to block off areas in my yard that I do not want the dogs to enter. It works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How did I ever get along without this? I have to admit, I didn't think I needed one "It's just another worthless expense." Boy was I wrong. I really wish I had this the day my puppy arrived. It folds to a small, though somewhat heavy (it is metal afterall) package. And can twist and turn to form whatever shape you need depending on the layout of your room. We can now take our puppy to places we really couldn't before. Such as when my wife goes to a cultural dance practice (she is from the Philippines), she brings this pen, sets it up and the puppy gets to watch. It really is a worthwhile investment. We will also be using it for camping instead of having to tie her to a tree.
