Customer Reviews

MidWest Extra-Wide Wooden Pet Gate is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 70.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wide light weight gate It was great to find a gate that would span a larger distance and is not too expensive. It was easy to set up (does require hooks be inserted into wall) and use. It is not especially sturdy, but works very well for smaller pets and is low enough to step over.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what I needed This gate will not hold in a 70 pound dog. I purchased this gate to replace an identical one that I have had for 7 and 1/2 years. I use it to keep my 20 pound dachshund mix from crawling under the fence in my backyard. There is a rather large opening between the bottom of the fence and the concrete. This gate helps to keep the dog inside. The previous gate was out in the rain, snow and blazing sun for 7 and 1/2 years before it finally started to break apart. It served me well especially for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I'm using this as a child gate for our 8ft archway separating family room and center room. I couldn't be happier.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This was not a good buy This was not a good buy. When I received the items the box was very beat up. The product you had to put together and all of the holes were not there that you needed to put the gate together. I had to remove the medal latches because that I had to remove as to not destroy my walls. The wood was not that strong, I've other gates for my little furry friend and they are strong and durable. I should have sent it back but that would have been more of a headache then the item was worth.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The hardware doesn't fit into the holes for screws The bolts didn't fit into the holes to hold the 2 sides together. I think it was a waste of money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very Weak The gate can absolutely extend as far as it says it can, however it becomes very weak and will bow out from the middle when pushed against even in the slightest. A dog would never be contained by this unless something is done to anchor it to the floor as well. Watch a puppy rip it out of your wall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job well We just adopted a rescue pup who's just about a year old. She's not completely house trained, but she's getting there. We use this gate, plus a couple of others to restrict her to the den, kitchen, and front hallway when we're all downstairs. It's well constructed and easy to use. It's made to bolt into the walls, but I just lean it outside the wall to cover the opening. I really didn't want to drill into newly painted walls. Otherwise, it's a greatr product
