Replace 10% of the current diet with our Fat Dogs® Low Calorie Dry Dog Food each day until they are fully transitioned. If you do not have any of your current formula to mix, reduce the amount of Fat Dogs® Formula fed for the first few days, feeding smaller more frequent meals and increase over time. • Changed the calories

We bought this food on the advice of our groomer. The first bag was labeled as having 250 kcal/cup. Unfortunately by the time we finished the 28 lb bag the food had started to disintegrate. (best used by date 6/19/18). Thinking this might be a one time thing, we purchased another bag (BUBD 10/02/18). That food has not broken down like the first, but the bag is labeled differently as to company location (San Francisco vs Burbank) and the calorie count is now 300 kcal/cup. Since I cannot tell who is actually manufacturing the product and where they are located, plus the increase of calories by 20%, I do not have confidence in the product.

  • My picky girls won't eat it

    By on

My girls did not like the food...not because of the quality but because they are extremely picky. I had to take them to the vet after Hurricane Irma due to their stress levels (we live on the water and stayed home during the storm). My vet requested they be put on a prescription dog food due to their age and joint problems. All that said, I have packed up the food and will be taking it to our local animal shelter. I'm sure they have some chubby kids there:)

I have an overweight poodle mix. She has had both ACL's repaired. She needs to lose about 3 pounds. She really enjoys this food and doesn't try and eat the others food. I will continue to buy it for her.

  • Tasty Diet

    By on

I was concerned that my overweight dog (a St Bernard) wouldn't like the taste of the food, but he loves it. He eats his portion, seems satisfied with the amount, and after only 3 weeks seems to be already losing some weight.

  • Fat Dogs for my Tubby Girl!

    By on

When this arrived I mixed it with the food she was already eating, she became ill a couple of days later. I didn't think it was the food but, I did stop feeding it to her and went and bought a small bag of her other food. It turns out that she had a bug and was on meds for 10 days. The food, well she hasn't noticed any change. But she did have this food a couple of years ago and it did not bother her then either. We will keep with this food in order to get her weight back down.

I am so surprised my little 9 year old fluffy Maltese is eating a low calorie food. He gobbles it all up and seems to be very satisfied. I will be buying more.

  • Definitely noticed a difference!

    By on

I have been feeding my German Shepherd this for about 3 months and she has dropped around 10 lbs. I feed her twice a day a cup in the am and a cup at night and she sometimes doesn't eat right away so I know it keeps her full. Good stuff!

  • Slim dogs down

My Aussies had gotten chunky. They started to become noticeably more slender in a month and they like the food. Follow the instructions and watch the slim. Wish there was a bag of food like that for humans

  • Not Happy...basically no weight loss at all

    By on

We have finished two bags of "Fat Dog", with the highest of hopes. We have a Border Terrier who is getting up in years, less active, and has gained quite a bit of weight over the last two years. He requires a limited ingredient diet and we've been using all Natural Balance foods for about 4 years and have been very happy with them..for whatever reason, this food, being fed in the same quantities as his normal small breed LIT Natural balance, did not help bring his weight down at all. I checked the guidelines, and for weight loss we were supposed to feed 1/2 cup, twice a day (average of 1 cup per day) to achieve weight loss...it didn't happen - it looks like a LOT of food for a little dog, We have finished two bags of "Fat Dog", with the highest of hopes. We have reduced treats drastically, and even switched to frozen cut green beans for treats in place of all but a couple of times a day for treats....I was glad to see that it has helped some pets, upset that it has not helped mine...trying a new brand. … more
