FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I limit the ingredients my pet is exposed to?

Feeding formulas with limited ingredients is a great way to minimize their exposure to ingredients. Limited ingredient formulas have a restricted number of protein and carbohydrate sources.

How should I go about trying a limited ingredient diet for my pet?

Food trials on a limited ingredient diet should take place over at least 12 weeks using a novel protein and carbohydrate source that the pet has not had before. No other treats or food items should be fed during these first twelve weeks.

How else can I limit my pet’s exposure to certain ingredients?

Pets that can benefit from a limited ingredient diet should not have unsupervised access to human foods, garbage, or outdoor areas where they can ingest plants.

  • Great Limited Ingred. Canned Food

    By on

My 15 year old dog was beginning to have digestive issues, dry brittle coat and beginning to turn up his nose at the food he had eaten for years. A friend suggested this limited ingredient "real food" Natural Balance brand. He ate it right away. He loves it. He's gaining some of his weight back, his coat is much more silky like it used to be and he even has more energy. I haven't done anything else different so I really think it is all about finding the right food and this is the right food for Colonial Rhett Butler!

I have an elderly cockapoo dog, going on 14 years soon, he’s missing about six teeth. He’s always been eating the dry Natural Balance small bites. This year his appetite started decreasing, so I’ve been adding water to the Natural Balance small bites, soak for 3 minutes and add a couple of teaspoons of the can chicken & sweet potato of Natural Balance. Wow, what a difference; he can’t wait to be feed! For some reason he also has more energy, wish I started him sooner. I highly recommend the can food, especially for older dogs!

I’ve been buying Natural Balance L.I.D. wet & dry food for over 2 years. My 2 Chihuahua’s love it. One of my Chi’s has digestion issues & this food helps with that. It’s good ingredients & healthier than most brands. I also buy the treats from this brand as well.

  • Too many Dented cans in the case.

    By on

My dogs loved this product but when I received the case there were several dented cans noted in most all of the orders. I don't think it was chewy.coms problem because the cans that were severely dented were in the middle. I felt it came from the factory. I stopped buying the product because of this. Chewy.com was great in replacing or refunding my money.

Too much potatoes for one of my dogs and the other one does not mind all the potatoes sure glad I ordered the small cans. Large bag of dry food is liked by both dogs. Have not tried the small bag yet

  • Apparently delicious, and a good first choice for sensitive stomach.

    By on

My miniature dog had periodic severe digestive upset. It occurred despite vet visits, and trying a dozen different foods over a year and a half, including 2 prescription brands of digestive formula. She would walk away from many of those foods. She voraciously eats this LID canned formula, and has had healthy digestion for months now. Call me grateful.

My dog hates dry dog food. He just refuses to eat it!! So I found this, after mutilple different kinds of dry food, and he LOVES IT! Sometimes I mix this with some dry food that has been left over from the many different kinds I have tried, and he loves it either way!
