The amounts in the table are intended as guidelines only. The food intake should be adjusted according to the age, weight, breed, temperature, climate and activity level of your dog. Consult a veterinarian for specific weight recommendations.

Adult dogs should be fed either once or twice per day. When you first start feeding Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diet Dry Dog Food, we suggest starting with the amounts recommended in the table. Energy requirements vary with environmental conditions, temperature and activity of your dog. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your dog's needs.

For working dogs: Based on the work your dog will be asked to perform, the nutritional requirements will vary accordingly. As the workload increases, the demand for protein and fat increases proportionally. Dogs in hard training will generally require twice the maintenance levels. For older dogs: As your dog begins to age, his energy expenditure will decrease. Decreasing the amount of food accordingly will allow for the maintenance of proper body weight for a less active dog.

Remember, fresh clean water should be available at all times!

Transition Instructions

When switching your dog's diet, the change should be made gradually by replacing the current food with increasing portions of Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets® Sweet Potato & Bison Dry Dog Food. The change should be completed after 5 - 7 days. The maintenance of proper body weight is most important for your dog's health. Consult your veterinarian for specific weight recommendations for your dog.

  • Found something they'll eat!

    By on

I have an 8yr old black lab/shepherd mix. He has been plagued with chronic ear infections and allergies since he was 2. He recently received a radical Total Ear Canal Ablation (removal of ear canals) to eliminate the infections. As for his allergies, I have searched for a kibble (in addition to his wet food) that was a healthier choice and something he and his sister would actually eat. We are on our 2nd bag and although they were reluctant at first, they seem to have accepted Natural Balance as their choice. Here's to hoping the eating continues :-)

  • Change in food

    By on

My little boy fur baby apparently is having an allergic reaction to chicken - who would think! We have been avid blue buffalo people and now needed a limited ingredient food so thought we’d give this good a try. Still getting used to it but it came in quick from chewy and took the stress out of wondering where I would find a limited ingredient food! Thanks chewy!!!

  • Well worth it IMO

    By on

This is pricey food, but the ingredients are ideal. Our basset loves it. What I really like (but is it his constitution or the food?) is that he poops very large, easy poops, very regularly, twice a day. Easy to scoop up, easy for him. He is a mildly active big boy at 64 lbs., and we give him 1 -1/4 cups, 2x day.

  • Convenient and well priced!

    By on

We have been very pleased with the flexibility of Chewy if we need to alter our deliveries. Having our food delivered saves a trip to the pet store and money. It is win win for us! And, no more lugging around the heavy dog food. Just from the door to the dog area.

  • I love Chewy!

    By on

So convenient NOT to have to lug large bags of dog food from the store! Good prices and great service. If ordered in the morning, the order is usually shipped out the same day. Auto ship is good, too. I would definitely use Chewy as long as I have animals!

  • Stopped my dog’s vomiting

    By on

We started off with a premium, grain free puppy food when we got our Sheltie puppy. We noticed him sneezing frequently and had a hard time getting him to eat. I literally had to train him with treat rewards if he ate all his food. He would throw up his breakfast about 2-3 times a week and burped frequently. The vet suggested trying a lower protein diet, and recommended this one. He loves it. No more bribery to eat, and no more throwing up, sneezing or burping. Sounds like it was allergies.

  • Best food ever!

    By on

I've been feeding my sensitive Weimaraner daughter this food for 10 years now. I always get compliments from people who stop to pet her that her silver coat feels velvety or silky smooth. And it is compared to petting other Weims. And she loves eating it !

  • The one and only

    By on

After many, many tries - and many barely opened bags of grain free with lots of filler , or semi- limited ingredients we hit the jackpot. This is the only food that keeps his stools firm and him happy. He has plenty of energy, a shiny coat, and is a happy, healthy boxer.

  • Bison is the BEST

    By on

My buddy, Oliver has several food allergy issues, and the Natural Balance, Limited Ingredient food fits the bill, he was getting bored with the flavor he was eating, but as soon as I gave him a bowl of Sweet Potato and Bison, he was so happy with the flavor, he gobbled it up.

  • Shouldve written this years ago

    By on

This is by far the best dog food ever! When we first got our puppy she couldn't digest any dog food, we tried EVERYTHING and she always ended up with an upset stomach. We slowly discovered she was allergic to chicken so we gave this one a try. We have never looked back! We always get compliments on how soft and shiny her coat is, not sure if its from the food or her genes. She also LOVES this food, even after eating it for 3 years, she cant wait to eat more.
