The amounts in the table are intended as guidelines only. The food intake should be adjusted according to the age, weight, breed, temperature, climate and activity level of your dog. Consult a veterinarian for specific weight recommendations.

Adult dogs should be fed either once or twice per day. When you first start feeding Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diet Dry Dog Food, we suggest starting with the amounts recommended in the table. Energy requirements vary with environmental conditions, temperature and activity of your dog. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your dog's needs.

For pregnant females: A minimal increase is needed during the first 6 weeks. Increase the amount fed up to 25% during weeks 7, 8, and 9. For lactating females: Immediately after whelping, the nutritional demand increases by 50% compared to maintenance levels. Feed in 3 equal meals per day. For working dogs: Based on the work your dog will be asked to perform, the nutritional requirements will vary accordingly. As the workload increases, the demand for protein and fat increases proportionally. Dogs in hard training will generally require twice the maintenance levels. For older dogs: As your dog begins to age, his energy expenditure will decrease. Decreasing the amount of food accordingly will allow for the maintenance of proper body weight for a less active dog.

Remember, fresh clean water should be available at all times!

Transition Instructions

When switching your dog's diet, the change should be made gradually by replacing the current food with increasing portions of Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets® Chicken & Sweet Potato Dry Dog Food. The change should be completed after 5 - 7 days. The maintenance of proper body weight is most important for your dog's health. Consult your veterinarian for specific weight recommendations for your dog.

  • my frenchie loves this food !!

    By on

One of the best dry foods I've tried. The kibbles are a good size and he actually chews the pieces instead of swallowing whole. My frenchie has really bad gas which is why he can no longer sleep in my bed. I used to feed him Blue buffalo wet food before I switched to this brand and I can tell he has way less gas and it's not as bad. I also give him Natural Balance wet food Chicken and Sweet potatoes LID. He loves the taste!!

  • Great food for sensitive stomach

    By on

This is such a great dog food and I think its the only one in this line that doesnt contain canola oil. I fed it to my fussy eater with a sensitive stomach for well over a year starting at 6 months old and he did extremely well on it. It was the only thing I could find at the time that didnt give him runny poops. So grateful to have found it! The only reason Im switching is because he's not interested in eating it anymore, I think he's just bored of eating the same thing. Thanks for a great product! Highly recommend!

  • My dog and her tummy recommend

    By on

My dog has a sensitive stomach and she and I both recommend this food. Have tried other things, even prescription food from the vet. This one looks the best to keep her stomach settled plus she likes it.

  • My Dogs love it! Improved bowel movements

    By on

My Shih tzu and Shorkie love it! It was a easy transition and didn't hurt their tummies....it also helps maintain healthy weight and shiny coats. They have good bowel movements and it improved from the previous food. Good choice for your pooch!

  • Great for a Swissneese

    By on

My 110 lbs cross between a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog and a Great Pyrenees loves this food. She was having digestion issues, and her poo was really soft. We tried a few of the expensive recommended dog foods, but none of them were good for her. I did a great deal of research and found that the LID foods are highly recommended for GSMD. Then I reviewed the ingredients in each of those and found Natural Balance was the best for our dog. She wasn't crazy about lamb flavor but is happy with the chicken. Her poo is firm, her tummy is happy. Her coat looks great, energy is high, etc.

  • All 3 dogs love it!

    By on

We had to change dog food - again. Partly because chewy will no longer be carrying Acana, but mostly because our dogs seemed to not tolerate it well. It seems the older they get, the more sensitive their systems get. I'd seen a lot about 'limited ingredient diets', so I thought I'd look into those. Natural Balance had great reviews, and my pups usually like chicken and sweet potatoes, so I got a small bag to start mixing in with the bland diet the vet put them on. We've had no problem with the transition and all 3 show up for meal time and go after their food like they haven't eaten in days! I hope this is the food of choice for a long time!

  • Cleared chronic soft stool

    By on

My Shepherd Mix has had chronic loose stools pretty much from the day I got him. I've tried other diets for sensitive stomachs until my veterinarian recommended trying a limited ingredient diet. My dog's stools are now firm and he went from going 4-5 times per day to the normal 2 times. This food has been a life changer and I recommend it to any dog with sensitivities!

  • No having to coax them to eat this food

    By on

I am just starting to feed this dog kibble to my two corgis so I will amend when they are on it awhile. They do love the taste though. Transitioning them in slowly to other dry kibble. They nudge the container for more so I know they approve.

  • We love Chewy!

Chewy has made our lives so much easier - No more lugging heavy bags of food into a shoppong cart and then into a car. Thanks Chewy!
