The amounts in the table are intended as guidelines only. The food intake should be adjusted according to the age, weight, breed, temperature, climate and activity level of your dog. Consult a veterinarian for specific weight recommendations.

Adult dogs should be fed either once or twice per day. When you first start feeding Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diet Dry Dog Food, we suggest starting with the amounts recommended in the table. Energy requirements vary with environmental conditions, temperature and activity of your dog. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your dog's needs.

For pregnant females: A minimal increase is needed during the first 6 weeks. Increase the amount fed up to 25% during weeks 7, 8, and 9. For lactating females: Immediately after whelping, the nutritional demand increases by 50% compared to maintenance levels. Feed in 3 equal meals per day. For working dogs: Based on the work your dog will be asked to perform, the nutritional requirements will vary accordingly. As the workload increases, the demand for protein and fat increases proportionally. Dogs in hard training will generally require twice the maintenance levels. For older dogs: As your dog begins to age, his energy expenditure will decrease. Decreasing the amount of food accordingly will allow for the maintenance of proper body weight for a less active dog.

Remember, fresh clean water should be available at all times!

Transition Instructions

When switching your dog's diet, the change should be made gradually by replacing the current food with increasing portions of Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets® Sweet Potato & Venison Dry Dog Food. The change should be completed after 5 to 7 days. The maintenance of proper body weight is most important for your dog's health. Consult your veterinarian for specific weight recommendations for your dog.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Worst Food Yet I always try to get a LID dry food for my two pups because my 5 y.o. pit has the worst allergies ever and my 2 y.o. Boston will eat anything. We had been on the Natural Balance Rabbit for nearly a year with no problems before Chewy stopped carrying it (and I guess it was discontinued). At first our switch didn't seem to bring any issues except picky eating - which is weird but I figured they'd get used to it (which they did). Their stool had gotten softer but I figured it was stress since we introduced a newborn to our little family and my mother in law has been visiting long term to help. So after a finishing the first bag I got two more. Bad mistake! The dogs by now are very accustomed to my daughter and mom in law and still have softer stool and upset stomachs (bad enough that my big dog will poop the floor in the middle of the night). I'm going to have to give away the bag and a half or so I have left and find a new kibble ASAP. Thanks Natural Balance! September 1, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best limited diet available for my sick friend My 10 yr/old Cocker Spaniel was diagnosed with pancreatitis in May 2016 her blood tests were dangerously high. My vet prescribed a low fat diet. He wanted to use prescription diet commercially made. This was a problem because all of them use chicken as the protein source and my friend is allergic to chicken.. I found this diet and she has been on it several months and is doing very well on it. Her enzymes are improving. I plan to continue it as her permanent diet. October 30, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Our Dogs Started Smelling Like Cat Urine After about a month on Natural Balance Venison & Sweet Potato L.I.D. (kibble and wet) our dogs started smelling like cat urine. Our poor dogs! We thought we had a neighborhood cat problem and our dogs were somehow rolling in it when we'd let them out. They got many baths over a 2 month time span. Eventually came across something online when researching the trouble and that said their dog started smelling like cat urine, too. We're not feeding Natural Balance anymore, so I can't say it's limited to the Venison formula...but our dogs don't smell like pee anymore. October 25, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for Food Allergies My 3 year old male Siberian Husky was getting horrible, itchy scabs on his ears and after a million tests at the vet, it was determined he had a food allergy. I had him on an expensive RX food but after awhile it was just getting to be too much money, so I switched him to this, which is half the price. He loves it! It was an easy switch from the RX food to Natural Balance Potato and Venison and there have been no intestinal issues. I also switched my female Husky to this and she's very happy. Their coats are beautiful and they happily gobble it up. October 25, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Adored by the dog - Just wish it was higher protein "Your dog may have food allergies." These are not fun words to hear. And then you realize that, through a lack of knowledge NOT to, you've already exposed your dog to a lot of 'novel' proteins. So Venison and Sweet Potato it is! She loves this food. We thought our dog was not food motivated, at all. She barely would work for training treats, and certainly not for kibble. Our dog must be a millennial because she loves, loves, loves this starchy food and sweet potato training treats. Her shedding has decreased dramatically. She eats all her food voraciously where as we had to hand feed half her bowl previously. She will work for kibble in the morning. Her stool is much easier to pick up. Much less potent doggy farts, too. I do NOT like the macro nutrients on this food as much as her previous food. I wish it were a bit higher protein content. However, I can't argue with the fur not falling out and the obvious signs that her digestive system is happier. June 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by This Food Really Does Keep A Natual Balance Since I switched to this food, no more digestive upsets for my dog. So important because digestive upsets for him, mean sleepless nights for us. He really seems to like it as well. I am staying with this food. October 29, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love Chewy.com!!! I saw the Chewy.com ad on TV and thought I would take a look at their products and prices. One of the best things I've ever done concerning pet products! They had the product I needed at a very reasonable price! Also, the option to have the order sent out automatically at my specified time request was great! My dog finishes a bag in almost exactly the same timeframe; the prearranged order saves me time and travel. Thanks, Chewy.com! You really simplified this aspect of my life! October 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great grain free dog food This grain free dog food has venison, a meat that is easy for dogs to digest and is something they would eat in the wild. It also has sweet potato, an ingredient that aids in healthy digestion. My dog loves it mixed with grain free chicken soft food! October 17, 2016
