The amounts in the table are intended as guidelines only. The food intake should be adjusted according to the age, weight, breed, temperature, climate and activity level of your dog. Consult a veterinarian for specific weight recommendations.

Adult dogs should be fed either once or twice per day. When you first start feeding Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diet Dry Dog Food, we suggest starting with the amounts recommended in the table. Energy requirements vary with environmental conditions, temperature and activity of your dog. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your dog's needs.

For pregnant females: A minimal increase is needed during the first 6 weeks. Increase the amount fed up to 25% during weeks 7, 8, and 9. For lactating females: Immediately after whelping, the nutritional demand increases by 50% compared to maintenance levels. Feed in 3 equal meals per day. For working dogs: Based on the work your dog will be asked to perform, the nutritional requirements will vary accordingly. As the workload increases, the demand for protein and fat increases proportionally. Dogs in hard training will generally require twice the maintenance levels. For older dogs: As your dog begins to age, his energy expenditure will decrease. Decreasing the amount of food accordingly will allow for the maintenance of proper body weight for a less active dog.

Remember, fresh clean water should be available at all times!

Transition Instructions

When switching your dog's diet, the change should be made gradually by replacing the current food with increasing portions of Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets® Sweet Potato & Venison Dry Dog Food. The change should be completed after 5 to 7 days. The maintenance of proper body weight is most important for your dog's health. Consult your veterinarian for specific weight recommendations for your dog.

Customer Reviews

Natural Balance L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Venison Formula Grain-Free Dry Dog Food is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 653.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Breeder rec for mini Australian Shepherd puppy As a first time puppy raising family, we relied heavily on the breeders recommendation of dog food for this 9 wk old mini Aussie. They insisted on this particular offering from Natural Balance, stating they've raised all their pups and parents are fed this brand. Well, I read reviews high and low on multiple sites and the consensus from dog owners is this is good food for their dogs. It has been working fine for our pup since we brought her home about 2 weeks ago (firm and timely stools), my only concern is that I just read on another reputable website that this particular brand only received a 2 to 2.5 out of 5 for actual nutrition results. Imo, that's subpar for the price point. Seriously debating a switch to at least a 4 or preferably a 5 star nutrition rating if I'm going to spend anywhere near this kind of coin for our new family member (dog). Any new concerns now from other users of this brand? Or substitute brand suggestions. These first time pup parents could use some guidance. P. s. The vet checkup said its fine but I'm not sure she was privy to the nutrition data I just uncovered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it When I rescued my dog, he was really sick, and had a lot of allergies.... Later after treatment I changed his nutrition. As soon as I bought him Natural Balance his skin rashes disappeared. I didn't know much about the Dog nutrition until I started working for 3 different Pet Stores.. This one is so far the best recommended one! Is limited ingredient which makes it great since you wont be having added fat from other meats like chicken/ no good.. Also, its Grain Free ! No corn ! I love it! I don't longer work for Pet Stores so I don't get a discount, but I save a lot from going to a Veterinarian! My dog is healthy <3

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adored by the dog - Just wish it was higher protein "Your dog may have food allergies." These are not fun words to hear. And then you realize that, through a lack of knowledge NOT to, you've already exposed your dog to a lot of 'novel' proteins. So Venison and Sweet Potato it is! She loves this food. We thought our dog was not food motivated, at all. She barely would work for training treats, and certainly not for kibble. Our dog must be a millennial because she loves, loves, loves this starchy food and sweet potato training treats. Her shedding has decreased dramatically. She eats all her food voraciously where as we had to hand feed half her bowl previously. She will work for kibble in the morning. Her stool is much easier to pick up. Much less potent doggy farts, too. I do NOT like the macro nutrients on this food as much as her previous food. I wish it were a bit higher protein content. However, I can't argue with the fur not falling out and the obvious signs that her digestive system is happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Shorkie is finally able to EAT!!! I have a 5 year old Shorkie, who has had bouts of Colitis and has chronic gastritis. Chronic slimy, bloody stools, and vomiting bile 3-5 times a week. I tried every food out there even prescription food. Vet recommended I try something totally different, with limited ingredients and a meat source and other ingredients that he has never had before. He has been on this dry food for 3 months now, along the canned version (I mix them) and he, for the first time in his life, has normal stools. He has only thrown up 2 times in the past 3 months as well! Our local store has been having a hard time stocking this particular blend, so I am thrilled that I can order it here online, and get autoship!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very carb-heavy for price I was feeding this to my Golden temporarily as I needed something limited ingredient to rule out problems he was having. While he did okay on this food, I believe this food is too pricey given the carb to protein ratio. It's very carb heavy and while it does its job as a limited ingredient diet, it shouldn't be this expensive in my opinion. I have switched to a different brand that offers higher protein percentage at a cheaper price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from this product is great for dogs who have severe allergies and sensitive stomaches My dog was diagnosed two years ago with severe allergies. We have tried for years to figure out why he suffered from constant ear infections, hot spots, and unexplained belly rashes. We took him to several specialists who put him on a never ending string of antibiotics and steroids. Nothing worked and we were frustrated. Finally we changed our regular vet. Our new vet is great and knew as soon as she saw him what his problem was. She asked if we had ever had him tested for allergies and recommended we start him on Natural Balance venison and sweet potato right away. We went straight to the pet store and purchased our first bag. Within a week his ears cleared up and his hot spots were gone! We tell everyone we know about this amazing product. I have since become disabled and the trip to the pet store (the closest pet store that carries this brand is a 45 minute drive from us) became impossible. Luckily, we discovered Mr. Chewy online and now we get his food and treats delivered right to our door!
