The amounts in the table are intended as guidelines only. The food intake should be adjusted according to the age, weight, breed, temperature, climate and activity level of your dog. Consult a veterinarian for specific weight recommendations.

Adult dogs should be fed either once or twice per day. When you first start feeding Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diet Dry Dog Food, we suggest starting with the amounts recommended in the table. Energy requirements vary with environmental conditions, temperature and activity of your dog. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your dog's needs.

For pregnant females: A minimal increase is needed during the first 6 weeks. Increase the amount fed up to 25% during weeks 7, 8, and 9. For lactating females: Immediately after whelping, the nutritional demand increases by 50% compared to maintenance levels. Feed in 3 equal meals per day. For working dogs: Based on the work your dog will be asked to perform, the nutritional requirements will vary accordingly. As the workload increases, the demand for protein and fat increases proportionally. Dogs in hard training will generally require twice the maintenance levels. For older dogs: As your dog begins to age, his energy expenditure will decrease. Decreasing the amount of food accordingly will allow for the maintenance of proper body weight for a less active dog.

Remember, fresh clean water should be available at all times!

Transition Instructions

When switching your dog's diet, the change should be made gradually by replacing the current food with increasing portions of Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets® Legume & Duck Meal Dry Dog Food. The change should be completed after 5 - 7 days. The maintenance of proper body weight is most important for your dog's health. Consult your veterinarian for specific weight recommendations for your dog.

  • Great food

    By on

All three of our dogs love this dog food. We have a Maltese, Beagle and Griffon and even the Maltese has no problem with the size of each kibble.

  • The ONLY food for our rescue dog

    By on

Our rescue dog ended up allergic to everything we have tried for over a year. Finally we found Legume and Duck. She has done better with this than anything, then they stopped carrying it. Chewy and this Natural Balance Duck Legume has been a life saver and prevented our dog from any more hematoma's on her ear. The first bout of that cost $1000. When I couldn't find it in the store she started rubbing her ear on the floor again. I absolutely LOVE having it shipped to our door. Customer Service has been superb. Couldn't ask for better on ALL accounts. Thank you so much.

  • Grain Free Legume & Duck Meal Formula fills the bill

    By on

Our 16 LB. 6 year old Cavanese, Rocky, suffers from food allergies and needs the quality formula we ordered by Natural Balance. He can't have chicken or beef and duck seems to be one of his favorites along with turkey. He especially enjoys the Natural Balance Duck Jerky dental chews as his daily treat.

  • Very few foods for allergic dogs

    By on

Bought this as my dog is allergic to almost everything. But he didn't like it, mixed with another dry food and he actually separated them! But it has good ingredients. Low star rating because my dog didn't like it, not the product.

  • Not for my ultra sensitive lab

    By on

My pup has allergies so we've been trying him on various NB LID foods. This one didn't work. He seems to do best on Venison and Sweet Potato.

  • Awesome dog food for boxers with allergies

    By on

My pup Lexi was allergic to every food we tried salmon/chicken/beef/venison and this was the first food we tried where she didn't want to claw her skin off after eating so I highly recommend trying it for any dog with multiple food allergies.
