The amounts in the table are intended as guidelines only. The food intake should be adjusted according to the age, weight, breed, temperature, climate and activity level of your dog. Consult a veterinarian for specific weight recommendations.

Adult dogs should be fed either once or twice per day. When you first start feeding Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diet Dry Dog Food, we suggest starting with the amounts recommended in the table. Energy requirements vary with environmental conditions, temperature and activity of your dog. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your dog's needs.

For pregnant females: A minimal increase is needed during the first 6 weeks. Increase the amount fed up to 25% during weeks 7, 8, and 9. For lactating females: Immediately after whelping, the nutritional demand increases by 50% compared to maintenance levels. Feed in 3 equal meals per day. For working dogs: Based on the work your dog will be asked to perform, the nutritional requirements will vary accordingly. As the workload increases, the demand for protein and fat increases proportionally. Dogs in hard training will generally require twice the maintenance levels. For older dogs: As your dog begins to age, his energy expenditure will decrease. Decreasing the amount of food accordingly will allow for the maintenance of proper body weight for a less active dog.

Remember, fresh clean water should be available at all times!

Transition Instructions

When switching your dog's diet, the change should be made gradually by replacing the current food with increasing portions of L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets® Potato & Duck Small Breed Bites® Dry Dog Food. The change should be completed after 5 to 7 days. The maintenance of proper body weight is most important for your dog's health. Consult your veterinarian for specific weight recommendations for your dog.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 104 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product worked extremely well for skin/ear infections Ive always adopted small older dogs and most have been dumped because of skin problems and ear infections, by chance I read a review from a lady who used this dog food and said it worked so well on all her rescue dogs she fed all of them and the skin and ear infections had cleared up and not returned. I was skeptical but purchased the Duck Potato small breed bites, within a couple of weeks my Bichon no longer ever had constant painful ear infections and my other dogs stopped having skin problems, also the staining around the eyes cleared up so I was utterly stunned. Ive fed them this food ever since with organic chicken or beef mixed in and they like to eat it as a late night snack before bed so I am really more than pleased and,,,,,, so annoyed at the complete junk that was in other dog foods causing so many unnecessary health issues October 11, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Digestible After all the difficulties with the Science Diet Liver support canned dog food, four weeks, and $600 in vet costs!....My dog is loving this food, eating it successfully and improving in that area of his life. Thank you for all your cooperation and willingness to reimburse me for the food purchases that did not work for my dog. I think we have finally hit on one that works! October 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this product Would reccommend this food for 95% of dogs. Allergies Disappear !! Ear Infections Gone!! Great for digestion!! October 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Glad to have my happy dog back! :) I have a 16-17 year old male Shih-Tzu. We were really thinking he was not long for this world. His allergies had gotten really bad and the vet had him on prescription dog food. Gizmo's allergies continued to bother him, he lost weight, and his coat was dull. He is fairly well blind and deaf also, and it was like he lost the will to live. He just moped around and slept. He never lifted or wagged his tail. I purchased this food for my other two dogs. I forgot to pick up Gizmo's food from the vet one day, so I let him have some of this food. HE LOVED IT! He's been on it for a good 3 months now and what a changed dog he is! He is full of life again, prancing around and has even found his bark again. It's like he has a new lease on life. His allergies are still there, but tolerable. It's much better than they were on the prescription diet. So HAPPY to have found this food. April 27, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by You can rest assured that this product provides a healthy meal. I feel good about feeding the Natural Balance products to my Beagle knowing that he is getting a healthy & tasty diet. My dog suffers from multiple allergies and with the limited ingredients in this product I feel confident that he is getting what he needs to maintain good health and nothing more. August 11, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good product The dog food itself is great. Many dogs who are allergic to many pet foods and in many cases their owners don't know it, would benefit from Natural Balance. The scratching and the sneezing and sometimes vomiting would end. The price of this product from Chewy was not any cheaper than any other place I have ordered it. Also, the delivery was not any faster than Wag where I usually get it. July 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product for Grain Free My 6 Shih Tzu year old cannot have grain, found this product and she no longer has stomach issues. Only food I feed my dogs! August 6, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Really good for the little guys When we got our Pixie, he had very little hair. The rescue org even said he's a Chinese Crested mix. (Well, what else could they say? They got him hairless, they sold him hairless, right?) Wrong! our super hairy little beast just clearly never had Limited ingredient SUPER food in his life. He loves cheap wet foods, so sometimes we give him Cheapie stuff from Safeway as a treat, but it isn't 2 days of that and he loses a patch of hair somewhere. Back to these kibbles and his hair grows back in days. July 15, 2016
