I purchased this item before I went on vacation. Our old scoop was falling apart, and I thought this would be easy for the kids to use. The grass was taller than usual when we got home, but I decided to try the new scoop out. It was horrible. The jaws were grabbing at the grass and hardly picking up any of the poop. After mowing I gave it another shot. It was definitely easier, but once the poop had settled closer to the ground, it was still very difficult to pickup. I've used the scoop a total of 3 times now, the last time I used it a spring broke off :/ Do not buy this item! I recommend using the scoop with a separate rake and shovel.

I have used a few different scooper products and I really enjoy this one. For a while I had been stuck using a shovel, not only does it hurt your back, it's just inconvenient. When I began using this scooper I actually cut the time it normally takes to pick up poop in half - (we have three big dogs). It's easy to handle, it is sturdy, and makes picking up poop simple. Why wouldn't you want to make poop scooping easier? I no longer dread the 'I have to pick up poop today' feeling anymore.
Does the job....

.....that you don't want to! I ordered another scooper that only had 'teeth' on one side of the scoop, and just didn't work very well. This one has them on both sides, and springs tightly closed so your job is done in seconds.
**side note, Chewy credited me back the amount of the first scooper (completely unexpectedly) and told me to keep/donate it. The customer service at Chewy is always top notch!!

With 7 dogs between 125 and 185 pounds I consider myself an expert poo hunter, and not small poo either. I really like these scoops. I suggest clamping to the side of the bucket to prevent freezing in cold weather. Never use a twisting motion, a short vertical shake can help loosen stuck poo.
Only thing that keeps it from getting 5 stars is that the springs break prematurely. Always the ends breaking off. Everything else is fine. Anyone know where to get replacements? I hate to replace the entire thing because a spring replacement would work.

I'm 5 weeks off of a total hip replacement with one precaution - no bending. This thing is an amazing tool. It picks everything up with determination. Some
have complained that it pulls out some of the grass. Well, it does take a few blades with it, but not so much as to leave a patch of dirt behind. I use a plastic grocery bag to line it. Works like a charm. Since my pup loves to play fetch, we are pretty meticulous about getting things picked up right away. And when I'm "solo" around the house, this is a great help. Just sorry I paid full price - it's on sale now!!!

Works great in grass and especially good for big or multiple dogs, it holds alot at one time. This is my second one, one for front and one for back.
Have had several different name brands and this one has last the longest. We have 2 and sometimes 4 big dogs and several neighbor dogs, that love our grass for potty time.

Ok, the handle is a bit on the big side as others suggest, but I also have small hands and if you scoop regular it's WELL WORTH IT! I have 2 large dogs and scooping has never been easier! Unfortunately, sometimes a bit of grass comes as well... That's ok as far as I'm concerned! :) These scooper have power!

For dried poop this works very well. For new poop, not so well. It has a tendency to smush the poop making it difficult or impossible to empty. I like the fact that I don't have to stoop down to pick up fecal matter but dislike having to clean it after every scoop.
Okay for cement..

This scooper is really nice on a solid hard surface. But if there is even a inch of grass it doesn't grab it all and ends up smearing it into the grass and along the inside of the claw. The only way to get most of the poop up is by tearing up the grass.
Prefer a rake and pan to clean up

We have pets of different sizes and an uneven yard. I find this very difficult to use. I also end up carrying around a bucket to deposit the waste in because I can only pick up small amounts at once or everything falls out.
