Instinct never uses fillers like grain, gluten, corn, wheat and soy, because they think every ingredient should have a specific nutritional and functional purpose.

Real meats, whole fruits and vegetables and turmeric are a few of the ingredients Instinct uses to provide naturally derived nutrients and enzymes for overall wellness.

The Mindful Choices Instinct Makes

Every Instinct recipe shows the careful, deliberate approach they take in crafting their food. They use only real ingredients, and you'll never find artificial colors, flavors or preservatives or fillers like corn, wheat or soy.

Well-balanced food source that contains fiber, vitamins, minerals and beta-carotene.

Provide a complete amino acid profile, including essential nutrients for optimal health.

An all-natural hypoallergenic starch that is highly digestible, grain-free and gluten-free.

Helps maintain the proper balance of acid and alkaline throughout the body.

  • Contains a lot of water

    By on

Recommending with reservations; this batch (case) of cans literally has liquid sloshing around in the can. It's not gravy-like at all, just watery. That said, it agrees with my German Shepherd and he likes it. The water content may be a fluke; I've bought this product before (off and on since 2015) and it seemed to be about average on the watery scale. If the next case is equally watery I'll try to find something else he likes, because this certainly isn't a cheap food.

  • I like everything about it but ...

    By on

I like the product, price, and convenience of having it delivered to my doorstep. I'm thinking about switching to raw feeding, though, and I'm not sure if I'll want those kinds of products delivered. How will I know if food remained frozen in transit? Still, Chewy has been great so far for canned food.

  • Great canned dog food

    By on

I have two Border Terriers that stopped eating any canned food at all at any price. I started cooking for them, making them roast beef and grass fed ground beef. I saw Instinct and gave it a try. I couldn't believe it when I saw them actually eating it. It is expensive, but for me, it is cheaper than buying the meat I was getting for them and cooking it. I also like that the food doesn't have any nasty smell. This is the only food I will buy now.

  • Healthy option

    By on

The previous dog food we used was discontinued so we had to switch to another brand. Our four year old Lhasa-Bichon rescue had no difficulty adjusting to this new brand. No stomach upset, loose stools... She loves all of the flavors too--turkey, chicken, and beef. I occasionally spot an entire pea or nice sized carrot chunk :-)
