Rated 5 out of 5 by Robie55 Life saving nourishment for my cats
My two cats are 18 and 20 years old, and while the older one was painfully creaking when she walked, the younger one almost succumbed to kidney failure. After IV fluids and a bout of raw and home-made foods, Nature's Variety Instinct grain free foods have been an amazing and trouble free nutrient that I credit for keeping my cats on an even keel. Big White no longer creaks, and loves this flavor along with rabbit and venison, and China, the younger, rarely shows signs of past kidney problems. 5 stars are for better health, trust in the product enough to share and tell other pet owning family and friends about it, and worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by drvii very healthy canine product
Our std. poodle, who is on a pancreatitis-type diet, is doing very well. He's into week 7 of major diet change and seems to have stabilized on the canned Instinct, low-fat foods.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LILLYSMom777 like the Instinct brand but this has pork added.....
We ordered this not reading the finer print that it has additional "pork" in the ingredients. Had we seen this, I would not have ordered as we do not eat pork (not healthy for humans nor pets, long term effects); otherwise, Instinct seems to be an honorable brand, aims to provide healthy food for pets. I would note that if the pork is added due to lamb not being "fatty" enough, why not opt for a more favorable additive like coconut oil or even chicken livers (vitamin A) instead of pork?? This being said, we won't be ordering again due to the pork additives. They should also state upfront that it is "Instinct Lamb *plus Pork" dog food instead of insinuating that it is all lamb. My 2 cents. Good company overall I think. Just not with pork.

Rated 4 out of 5 by trilobitequeen overall very good
My dogs like the food, but I wish there was a bit less liquid in it. Perhaps the liquid would be helpful for those who put the canned food over kibble. We don't do that.

I was happy to find this product since my dog is allergic to chicken and beef which are so common in many foods.

Rated 5 out of 5 by bpet Came through for my pup
One of my dogs gets anxious away from home and over the holidays at my parents' house wouldn't eat anything. I picked up some of this canned food and she ate it all up! Now I mix a couple spoons into her kibble regularly. It's perfect for her: no potatoes, no fish products, no grains. She likes all proteins (save the salmon, it makes her sick) but I tend towards venison or lamb as those are the main proteins in her kibble.

by PeachyRoc Texture is a bit dry....
If your dogs are anything like mine, they like meaty and moist food. I think this especially important when mixing in with kibble. My dogs are each different size/age but all three are under a year and even starving they lacked the interest in this food. There is very little moisture in the can newly opened, and refrigerating removes it almost entirely. I had to add broth or gravy to appease puppies which is very hard to do since they eat anything. I have a daucshund, Yorkiepoo, and a chi terrier mix.
**This varies per protein within the product line, I have not encountered this with the other two options**
