Transforming the Lives of Pets

Nature's Variety Instinct believes that everything we feed our pets should be real, whole, pure and as close to its natural state as possible. They are on a mission to transform the lives of pets and make it possible for more people to feed their own pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw.

Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw in Every Recipe

Instinct is on a mission to transform the lives of pets through the pure, real nutrition of raw. Their belief in the power of raw inspires every food they make. Instinct has carefully crafted their foods to provide easy ways to incorporate raw into your pet's diet.

Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw in Every Recipe

Real Food for Real Nutrition

Instinct believes protein should primarily come from pure animal sources. Animal protein provides all the essential amino acids, which vegetable protein alone can't provide.

Instinct never uses fillers like grain, gluten, corn, wheat and soy, because they think every ingredient should have a specific nutritional and functional purpose.

Real meats, whole fruits and vegetables and turmeric are a few of the ingredients Instinct uses to provide naturally derived nutrients and enzymes for overall wellness.

The Mindful Choices Instinct Makes

Every Instinct recipe shows the careful, deliberate approach they take in crafting their food. They use only real ingredients, and you'll never find artificial colors, flavors or preservatives or fillers like corn, wheat or soy.

Well-balanced food source that contains fiber, vitamins, minerals and beta-carotene.

Provide a complete amino acid profile, including essential nutrients for optimal health.

An all-natural hypoallergenic starch that is highly digestible, grain-free and gluten-free.

Helps maintain the proper balance of acid and alkaline throughout the body.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 103 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Canine Kibble of Champions! I created and breed the Native American Indian Dog(R). I currently have 64 dogs I am feeding this product to. All my dogs are self-fed and do not overeat, bloat or gorge with food at all. 18 of my dogs are retired and are over the age of 11 + up to 16 yrs of age. The clay, the butternut squash and the pumpkin seed included in this unique, special food, helps with the absorption of nutrients, squash is considered the perfect food source(for humans as well) and the pumpkin seeds help keep your dog's digestional tract free of common internal parasites. It also does not contain grains or sweet potato, which is considered a laxative to a dog. With cleaning up after 65 dogs, a firm stool, with not much of it to clean up is a very special plus to feeding Nature's Variety Instinct.~~~ October 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Arrived quickly and in tact. This is a great dog food and you offer the best price for a rather expensive dog food. The breeder used this food and I couldn't afford it. My dog started getting sick on the brand I switched to, so I decided to see if I could find it cheaper on line. He has not gotten sick since I changed back. Thanks for making it more affordable Chewy. October 19, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Another disappointment Took our new dog to another vet only to be told that the Natures Variety that the previous vet suggested is a raw food causing diarrhea. So now onto another brand Nutro Grain Free. Seems to be working well and a better vet! So disappointing when all we are trying to do is provide our dog with the best food. October 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Allergies no more! My dog has suffered from allergies since he was a pup. We were told by the vet we needed to change his protein type. That didn't help. Another vet said the same thing but also said he has environmental allergies too. After much research I found that yeast overgrowth on dogs will produce false positives on environmental allergy tests. I also found that dogs with too much yeast must NEVER have starches, gluten and carbohydrates in their food because they turn to sugar which is what causes too much yeast on the skin and in the ears as well as internally. Every dog food I looked at contained some type of starch or carbohydrate or gluten. This was the only food that I could afford for my 110 lb beast of a dog. IT WORKED !!! He is no longer suffering and we are no longer suffering having to live with a stinky yeasty dog! The only other thing that would have worked for him was a raw diet or to cook for him but I didn't have the time for either of those options. June 13, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by This food has healthy ingredients I chose this food due to the ingredients. It was recommended to me by my dog trainer. I adopted him when he was two years old. He enjoys this brand of food. August 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great products! Great product and great service! I will continue to order this product! August 28, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Tapioca didn't work for us I was trying to get all 3 of my fur babies onto one base kibble (I add in meats, yogurt, supplements, etc) when I tried this food. They all loved it, however, one of them had an allergic reaction to the tapioca. I also have one furry baby who's had a bladder stone problem. He developed this a year ago and I have just taken him off a very low quality "prescription diet". I chose this food because it was grain and gluten free, and had higher quality ingredients. I've done much more research and have found another kibble to use as a base, that does not have tapioca or high oxalate ingredients and is lower in carbs. I add in high quality meats, etc, to provide a high protein, low carb diet, so I prefer organic fruits and free-range poultry or grass-fed meats. I also soak the dry kibble in organic, low-sodium broth to provide moisture and make it easier to digest. This kibble did not expand like a sponge when it was wet and made a nice, thin "gravy" for my pooches. It's reasonably priced too. It just didn't work for my situation. January 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great dog food I keep buying this food for years. My yellow lab has allergic reactions to grains. Before I found this food she was a gigantic yeast factory. She got itchy, broke out in hot spots and her ears got caked up. Most other grain free dog foods are mostly potatoes. Not this one. This is one of the best foods out there and it keeps the yeast at bay. I feed her this food in the afternoon. She gets one of the raw patties (also from Nature's Variety "Instinct") in the morning.
