Transforming the
Lives of Pets

Nature's Variety Instinct believes that everything we feed our pets should be real, whole, pure and as close to its natural state as possible. They are on a mission to transform the lives of pets and make it possible for more people to feed their own pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw.

Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw
in Every Recipe

Instinct is on a mission to transform the lives of pets through the pure, real nutrition of raw. Their belief in the power of raw inspires every food they make. Instinct has carefully crafted their foods to provide easy ways to incorporate raw into your pet's diet.

Real Food for Real Nutrition

Instinct believes protein should primarily come from pure animal sources. Animal protein provides all the essential amino acids, which vegetable protein alone can't provide.

Instinct never uses fillers like grain, gluten, corn, wheat and soy, because they think every ingredient should have a specific nutritional and functional purpose.

Real meats, whole fruits and vegetables and turmeric are a few of the ingredients Instinct uses to provide naturally derived nutrients and enzymes for overall wellness.

The Mindful Choices Instinct Makes

Every Instinct recipe shows the careful, deliberate approach they take in crafting their food. They use only real ingredients, and you'll never find artificial colors, flavors or preservatives or fillers like corn, wheat or soy.

Well-balanced food source that contains fiber, vitamins, minerals and beta-carotene.

Provide a complete amino acid profile, including essential nutrients for optimal health.

An all-natural hypoallergenic starch that is highly digestible, grain-free and gluten-free.

Helps maintain the proper balance of acid and alkaline throughout the body.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Dogs wouldn't eat it. All 3 of my dogs would not eat this food. My vet had told me to get nature's variety instinct. Having 3 dogs I bought the 25lbs bag. So maybe I'll take it to a shelter. July 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Allergies no more! My dog has suffered from allergies since he was a pup. We were told by the vet we needed to change his protein type. That didn't help. Another vet said the same thing but also said he has environmental allergies too. After much research I found that yeast overgrowth on dogs will produce false positives on environmental allergy tests. I also found that dogs with too much yeast must NEVER have starches, gluten and carbohydrates in their food because they turn to sugar which is what causes too much yeast on the skin and in the ears as well as internally. Every dog food I looked at contained some type of starch or carbohydrate or gluten. This was the only food that I could afford for my 110 lb beast of a dog. IT WORKED !!! He is no longer suffering and we are no longer suffering having to live with a stinky yeasty dog! The only other thing that would have worked for him was a raw diet or to cook for him but I didn't have the time for either of those options. June 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Raw Diet Results in Dry Kibble We love the raw diet idea, but living in Florida, the local pet food stores carry very little refrigerated options and mail order is not an option, due to the hot summers and even though ice packs are used, still shows up warm. So after more investigation, we tried this brand and we are getting same results as the refrigerated raw food but in a more convenient dry kibble. June 4, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Tapioca didn't work for us I was trying to get all 3 of my fur babies onto one base kibble (I add in meats, yogurt, supplements, etc) when I tried this food. They all loved it, however, one of them had an allergic reaction to the tapioca. I also have one furry baby who's had a bladder stone problem. He developed this a year ago and I have just taken him off a very low quality "prescription diet". I chose this food because it was grain and gluten free, and had higher quality ingredients. I've done much more research and have found another kibble to use as a base, that does not have tapioca or high oxalate ingredients and is lower in carbs. I add in high quality meats, etc, to provide a high protein, low carb diet, so I prefer organic fruits and free-range poultry or grass-fed meats. I also soak the dry kibble in organic, low-sodium broth to provide moisture and make it easier to digest. This kibble did not expand like a sponge when it was wet and made a nice, thin "gravy" for my pooches. It's reasonably priced too. It just didn't work for my situation. January 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great food for your pet Our dog was having yeast issues and was scratchy a lot and chewing his hair off of his paws so we had to take the sugar, starch and grains out of his diet. I was really worried at first that he wouldn't like it because his other food had a lot of fruit and veges in it they called it lifesource bits. We had just purchased is old food so we worked this in with the other to slowly introducing it into his system. We now only feed this to him and he loves it and the scratching is almost gone and he looks and feels better. So this has worked great for us and plan to try the other flavor that Nature Variety has. We recommend this to feed to your dog if there is a yeast issue or if you just want your pet to feel healthier. April 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The only product that works for my itchy crew! 6 year old litter mate brother & sister Boston Terriers and a 2 year old female Frenchie. It's hard to find something they all tolerate well. After 2 years of experimenting with dry food, Nature's Variety has proven to be the only one that works for us. Very pricey but well worth it because it saves on vet bills :-) April 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by An Awesome Food I had been feeding my Border Collie puppy a dehydrated raw but I had to switch back to a kibble due to cost when I ended up with another of my current pup's litter mates, which put me at 4 dogs. I put all four of my dogs on another high quality kibble (not grain free), which they did well on, but my puppy's coat lost some of its luster. When I switched to Instinct Grain Free, within a few weeks, their coats were all shiny again, and they are still doing wonderfully on it. The caveat is, that when I put my 4 year old border collie girl on this food, the protien level was too high for her and a urinalysis revealed crystals in their urine. Per two different vets, this is an effect of the high protien levels in the food. So, this food is great, but just be aware that some dogs' kidneys don't tolerate the high protein level well. Rated 5 out of 5 by Nature's Variety Instinct is Great! I have been feeding my dog Instinct since I brought him home from the shelter. His coat is soft and people love to pet him. He eats both the canned and the dry. I have never seen a recall on these products. April 23, 2016
