About Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet Dog Food

Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet Dog Food
1 ANIMAL PROTEIN

1 ANIMAL PROTEIN

The ingredient list is purposefully simple for pets with food sensitivities. It focuses on one animal protein and one vegetable—versus the mix of each you'll find in most pet foods.

SIMPLE AND ESSENTIAL

SIMPLE AND ESSENTIAL

Sometimes what's not included is just as important as what is. These recipes are made with grass-fed meat or cage-free poultry and always made without grain, dairy, eggs, potato, corn, wheat, soy or artificial ingredients.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

They put the pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece of Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet by tumbling their kibble with crushed, freeze-dried raw—raising the bar in nutrition and taste.

The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does

Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand

LEAD WITH RAW

It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.

KEEP IT REAL

Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.

MAKE IT SIMPLE

Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.

GIVE BACK

Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with Best Friends Animal Society, they're furthering the no-kill movement and their shared mission of transforming and saving the lives of pets.

MAKE IT BETTER

Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

ONE MILLION MEALS

All pets deserve food that's real, nutrient-rich, grain-free and natural. That's why Instinct provides over one million meals annually to the dogs and cats at Best Friends Animal Society adoption centers nationwide. Because what we feed them can make all the difference. Here "we" refers to the pet parent, not Instinct.

About Instinct

Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

  • Cat owners should heed change in formula

    By on

In the past, Nature's Variety dog and cat formulas for all of the Instinct canned foods were identical, so it was economical to purchase the big dog cans for cats, especially for those of us with a lot of cats to feed. But the new formulation description indicates that these big cans no longer include taurine--an essential nutrient for cats. (There may be other changes, too, but this one is a definite red flag.) I am still purchasing it for my cats but mixing in a powdered taurine supplement (inexpensive and available online from vitamin and health goods vendors) and also feeding it in rotation with several other wet cat foods.

  • 4 our of five

4 stars only because my dog did not like it. That is a subjective thing so other then that I found nothing else that would suggest anything negative. The idea is great. The food may be top quality but if my dog will not eat it I guess I am out of luck.

  • Great food

    By on

What can I say? The food is mostly turkey and looks good enough for me to eat. My dog loves it. I mix it with dry food twice a day.

  • smells good

Gus loves it and as usual licks the bowl clean, but then there isn't much he doesn't just gobble up. This and the rabbit variety are just used as toppers, or I'd be in the poor house. LOL

  • Seems to like this best!

    By on

We picked up a rescued dog in February, a wire haired pointing griffon mix - about a year old, and tried to find a highly rated wet dog food that is healthy and that he really enjoys at the same time. This seems to be his favorite! We also tried the rabbit & duck formulas of this brand as well, but he seems more enthusiastic about this turkey formula. This one does seem moister and have more gravy than the other two, and cheaper as well than the others which is an added plus. We'll be sticking with this one. Also, like the mid size cans.

  • Easy on stomach

    By on

The previous dog food we used was discontinued so we had to switch to another brand. Our four year old Lhasa-Bichon rescue had no difficulty adjusting to this new brand. No stomach upset, loose stools... She loves all of the flavors too--turkey, chicken, and beef. I occasionally spot an entire pea or nice sized carrot chunk :-)

  • LOVE, love this canned food and so do the dogs.

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I do not fee Nature's Variety Instinct kibble, have considered it but really like the food our two are on now but am not a fan of their canned products. Our one can only have turkey or duck because of a very sensitive stomach and this limited ingredient canned food fits the bill beautifully. It's not loaded with anything but quality ingredients that I feel good about giving to both my dogs. I use it primarily as a Kong stuffer and stuff some in a bone at night with baby food, lol and they have it every night as a sort of calming way to end the day. Both dogs, one 7 months old, sit patiently at 7:30pm every night for their stuffed frozen bone.

  • He eats it

    By on

He likes it it better than merrick. Can't have chicken so this is what he gets. Is he crazy about it? No. But his diet is limited due to allergies so it will do just fine. Not a big food oriented dog anyway.

  • Dog gobbles it up.

    By on

I had not ordered this turkey before because of the 'diet' on title, but I liked the limited ingredients. My dog loves the turkey flavor & 'gobbles' it up.
