Rated 5 out of 5 by Finally a Firm Stool We have a 6 month old chocolate lab who loves to eat but a lot of items don't seem to mesh well with her. She either had diarrhea or at best a not-so-firm stool. Being a city dog, there really isn't a lot of grass area for her to do her business, so she often has to rely on the sidewalk, but with a stool that isn't firm and easy to clean it was messy and embarrassing to clean up to the best of our abilities. Our vet said that she may be allergic to chicken (apparently it is a very common allergy), which was in her food that she came home with, so we began our search for finding a food that was chicken free. She did better, but still wasn't great. It wasn't until we were at the dog park and noticed another puppy had a great stool, we asked the owner what she fed her dog and she said Petcurean, also expressing the same issue she was having with her puppy until she discovered this food. I am so happy to have found a food that my dog likes and is easy to clean up. Also her stool has been a lot less! No more 2 bags to pick it up. It truly has been a blessing to have found such a wonderful product that works. October 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fourth Time is the Charm As you can tell from my title my pup (currently 9 months old, 65lb. boxer/shepherd mix) had some difficulties with the original choices that I made for his food. The first was a well-known brand that was a great choice initially but then he started with really (really) loose stools that, after much research and trial and error, we determined the food was the problem. The next brand, also well known and respected, made him poop massive amounts so I knew it was not being digested/processed appropriately. The third, a very expensive brand he would not even touch...he hated it. I contacted Chewy and they recommended NowFresh. Dublin loves it, he is happy to eat his meals, has firm stools that are normal in frequency and amount, and he has gained weight appropriately. He is an energetic guy and he looks beautiful. I could not be happier and neither could he! October 22, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great food at a good price I switched to this from Orijen for my 7 month old Old English Sheepdog. If you know nothing else about OES, know that they have notoriously sensitive stomachs as puppies. My pup was burping, passing gas, and had loose stools at least 50% of the time, so we made the switch to this one, thinking the potatoes would help bulk up a bit. And it did. Now even when he's "stressed" by heat or excitement, his poop remains solid. No more tooting, less burping. He's extremely picky so he doesn't chow down, and in fact never has on anything, but it works, it's a great food, and it's reasonably priced for the ingredients. September 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Puppy loves it! I had my Bordeaux pup on a 4-star puppy food, however the kibble was so tiny she started having a hard time eating it. Since I switched my older Bordeaux over to the lg breed adult, I figured I would try this out on my puppy. She loves it! No more kibble all over the floor, shiny coat, firm stool. No more stinky breath either! I would recommend giving it a try! September 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great large breed puppy food My GSD could not digest most high end brands until I tried NOW Fresh large breed puppy, then adult, and now red meat. Their foods are high quality, easily digestible and my dog loves the taste. You cannot go wrong with this brand except if your dog is allergic to an ingredient in it...as with all foods. Rated 5 out of 5 by Finally.... My Great Dane is so picky and even if she would eat...she would often get sick, soon afterwards. I've tried soooo many brands and this one actually fits the bill. She likes it (big accomplishment# and she doesn't get sick after eating it! I've had to switch since this isn't offered at any nearby store...so, when I've run out...I've gone to the healthiest OTC brand...she'll eat it but then she gets sick, again. This brand has proven to be so very good for my large breed and my only compliant is I wish it was sold at more places. (That's what I get for running out) The good news is with this website, you can get it shipped for free! Very thankful for that :) April 17, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by Transitioned from Fromm's Gold for Large Breed Puppy When I adopted my shelter puppy, he was on Fromm's Gold for Large Breed Puppies, which is a good, solid brand. However, I did want to eventually upgrade him to the best food I could find. I tried Orijen, but just a few pieces I gave to him during a training session was enough to give him the runs. I wanted to switch over to one of Acana's All Life Stages, but my vet recommended I stay with a Large Breed Puppy line. I didn't see any reason to stick hard and fast to that rule, but I figured it couldn't hurt. I thought this might be a good "step up" from Fromm's Gold, based on reviews from different sites. But who knows, really? I can say this: my puppy definitely liked it less than Fromm's (which isn't necessarily a bad thing - wouldn't it make sense that a healthier food might be less appealing?) and he did fill out on it. Even though I transitioned slowly, his stool got way bigger (like twice the size of his normal stool), softer, and smellier. He also got a little stinkier, as well. When I occasionally give him raw food as a treat (usually Sojos) his stool comes out firmer. I have no reason to think that these are all bad things from a puppy health perspective, but it is my experience. I know that high end dog foods advertise softer coats, better smelling dogs, and smaller, harder stool for the ease and pleasure of dog owners more than anything. Not sure if I'll be sticking with this brand for another bag or not - no specific red flags. Also thinking about going on to an Acana All Life Stages line or a Zignature line. May 29, 2015
