When our oldest dog, Cheyenne, started to have trouble climbing our steps outside, I thought I'd better give her something that would make life easier for her. I heard Cosequin was very good for joint health for our dog. I noticed within a week, she had no trouble climbing the steps. She is a German Shepherd who will be 13 yrs. old in October. Our other Heintz 57 breed, Elbie, was having trouble with his jaw, so I started giving him Cosequin as well. We took him to the vet and found that he had acquired a disease that affected his muscles. He had lock jaw and was on prednizone for a while. So I am now giving them all the recommended doses and they love it. They can't wait till it's pill time. To them, it's like a treat. … more

  • 3 Senior Dogs

My vet recommended Glucosamine for 2 of my seniors. One of them has had surgery on both back legs for Medially Luxating Patella and the other has osteo arthritis. I was giving them my Glucosamine, but had to cut them to the correct dosage. It was a nuisance and I was never sure of the accuracy of the cut. Also, even cut to 3/4 the size they were hard to disguise and my dogs often spit them out. The Cosequin must be tasty because I give all 3 of my seniors 1 per day as maintenance and they eat them like a treat. Never spit them out and when they hear the jar open, they come running. I don't know how much these help because my dogs require other meds as well. However, I take glucosamine, my doctor My vet recommended Glucosamine for 2 of my seniors. I tried to take myself off of it after being pain free for years while on it. My arthritis pain came back and at times I could hardly move to get out of bed. It works remarkably well for me so I'm guessing it works for my dogs. It's much pricier than Costco's Glucosamine, but worth it because I'm not splitting pills each morning for 3 dogs and they love the Cosequin. The pills are large. My 30# shelties devour them, no problem. Can't fairly rate this product because my dogs take it in combination with other prescribed medicine. I gave it a "5" because a rating is required. … more

  • Good product!

    By on Top 500 Contributor

Our 6.5 years old husky loves it and does not hesitate to chow it down, although given she's very food-motivated in general. She has not shown signs of degeneration yet but we have heard from other husky owners that glucosamine is something that can start by mid-life, so decided to sporadically give this to Luna as a maintenance supplement. This seems to be reviewed as a quality products broadly. Glad to find it at Chewy (on a discount at our time purchase) and as usual, great speed and reliable (autoship) service.

  • Work Great!

Our dog is 15 years old and had been having trouble climbing steps. We had given him another brand of vitamins for his joints, but he did not show any improvement. I ordered these and not only do they last three times longer than the others, they were also a lot cheaper and he LOVES them! We have noticed a significant improvement in him climbing steps, laying down etc. I would highly recommend this product to others for their dogs!

  • My girl won't voluntarily chew

    By on

It's supplement properties may be fine, but Romayne has to be tricked into eating it, broken up as part of her meals & flavored with something desirable. This from a rescue that had been starved & eats almost everything voluntarily & who considers almost everything a treat &has to be restrained from licking the floor & from ingesting cat feces. Would be good if flavored with fish or poultry or lamb.

  • Great Product

    By on

I have 2 Alaskan malamutes on this joint supplement. The older boy will be 10 in January and he has started acting like a puppy. The real test will be in the winter, as that's when his joints have the hardest time. Then the other boy who is 5 years old is a picky eater. When it comes to his joint tablets, he can't wait to take them. He will even just eat the tablet and leave the food.

I started giving this to my girl Maya about 2 weeks ago so not enough time has passed to really see a change in her limp. She seems to limp upon waking from her naps. I can however say that she loves them and believes that I'm giving her a treat, so that's a plus for this product. Will update review in a few weeks.

  • Works miracled

My family has turned to this product for our older dogs developing arthritis. It is a miracle, we found this online and it helped our Pomeranian recover from aging arthritis. She went from limping to bouncing around within a few weeks. I just started my mastiff on this as well for preventive care and look forward to him avoiding hobbling around in pain.
