  • German Shepherd approved!!

    By on

My dad used to buy Nutro Max for his German Shepherd when he was in high school (45 years ago), and for every Shepherd he's had since. They all lived well into their 14th year with limited health problems. I'm glad to see the brand is still alive and well, despite now being owned by Mars. I can't say if the formula is the same, but my girl likes it just fine without having any trouble and that's good enough for me. I also like that it's cheaper here than any store near me.

  • Nutro's new lamb formula has chicken meal as first ingredient!

    By on

Why oh why would Nutro take a great lamb, chicken free dog food, made for dogs with allergies to chicken, and change the formula to have chicken meal as the first ingredient? Used to be a great food, now I can't buy this for my chicken allergic mini poodle!

Good product all my dogs do well on it, which is hard to find a dog food that they all agree on.

  • For now our 12 year old Doberman seems to enjoy his food.

    By on

We have tried several different brands of premium dog foods, trying to satisfy our senior Doberman who has many health issues. The different types of food ranges from fish, elk, duck, chicken, wild bore, etc. At this time it appears we have hit a homerun with your lamb mixture. While we still have to dress up the lamb a with foods like an egg, cow liver, or hamburg.

  • Awesome!!

This was my first time purchasing this brand for my dog Rhino, but I've used nutro before with my first dog, so I knew it was a great brand! As soon as the bag was opened, he got so excited! I was barely able to get the food in the bowl before he could gobble it up! He never acted like that with the last food we fed. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone and everyone!!!!

Anyone who takes the time will see that lamb is futher down on the label and that chicken bi-product is first. That being said my German Shepherd had struggled with allergies for a long time, pretty much his whole life. He is only two now but after changing his food constantly looking for a food that would help him, I finally found a food that helped him. I tried every single "organic" or "holistic" food on the market. I tried a strict vegetarian diet and I tried a wet food diet. None of those options helped him. It got to the point that he was literally eating patches of his hair because he was itching himself so much. We tried this food because it was merely something different and in one week Anyone who takes the time will see that lamb is futher down on the label and that chicken bi-product is first. It got to the point that he was literally eating patches of his hair because he was itching himself so much. We tried this food because it was merely something different and in one week his redness and dry skin was clearing up and now after having him on it for three months I am still happy to say he has stopped itching and enjoys his food. I truly recommend giving this food a chance if your dog is struggling with allergies or if you are even just getting a dog. We often look down at products that don't have the highest quality of meats but when you think about it, if they were not domesticated they would be eating whatever they could find. So sometimes the other diets are merely too much nutrition for an animal to withstand. Even our own bodies can I take too much nutrients and have negative effects. This food is the perfect balance for my dog and I hope it is also the same for yours. … more

  • This is not my first choice

    By on

I ordered this because what I previously purchased had taken a huge jump in price. I could not longer afford to buy it. I have used Max for about a week now and my dog isn't really too excited about it. She does not eat it as well as she did the Harvest. However, since Harvest is prohibitive as the current price, Lucy, will have to make do with Max.
