Key Benefits

  • Brimming with 38% richly nourishing protein and limited to 20% low-glycemic carbohydrates to nourish all dogs according to their evolutionary and biological needs.
  • A full 2/3 of the fish in this recipe is fresh (refrigerated, without preservatives) or raw (flash-frozen, without preservatives), including the top 6 fish ingredients.
  • Nutrient-dense WholePrey ratios of fresh whole fish (including meat, organs, and cartilage) provide virtually every nutrient your dog needs to thrive – only zinc and copper are added.
  • Orjen's dried fish are specially prepared at 200ºF from fresh, whole, wild-caught fish to create a concentrated source of richly nourishing protein that cannot be supplied by fresh fish alone.
  • Infusions of freeze-dried cod liver enhance flavor and palatability naturally, making Orijen deliciously tasty, even for fussy eaters.

Note: During packaging, Orijen's air evacuation process draws excess air from the bags prior to sealing. Depending on certain variables, some packages will appear vacuumed and others not. Rest assured the food in each bag will be equally fresh!

Biologically Appropriate Commitment

Dogs and cats are built like their ancestors, and that's why all of Orijen's recipes are based on five biologically appropriate principles. They start with a variety of unmatched fresh meat inclusions that are rich in protein. Orijen includes whole prey ratios that naturally provide the nutrients your dog needs. Carbs are limited, but there are plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and cleansing botanicals.

Orijen Dry Dog Food

Whole Prey Foods

In the wild, dogs consume the whole animal to meet their full dietary needs, so Orijen recipes incorporate three whole prey elements in specific ratios.

  • Meat (70−85%) High meat inclusion means all amino acids are provided in natural form, without any synthetic supplements.
  • Edible Bone (5−10%) Bone, marrow and cartilage provide calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin without any artificial additives.
  • Organ Meat (10−15%) Fresh liver and tripe are richly nourishing sources of vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B and D.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dog loves it I haven't had any, but my 5yo GSD has never eaten this fast so it must taste good. I recently had what I thought was a bad batch of dog food, so I had to switch up. I had been feeding Taste of the Wild so I wasn't getting garbage or anything, but the dog just stuck her nose up at it and would puke it up immediately. So I googled best dog food. The one common denominator in my search was always Orijen. I probably could have searched most expensive dog food and gotten the same results. After reading the ingredients I can see why. The only ingredient I dont recognize is the last one. Price would be its downfall. But whats money when youve got a happy dog? MAYBE the best thing about this food is the bag it comes in. I will describe it as "Foil" (kind of) The inside is some kind of foil that when you crumple it closed it stays closed and I would almost bet you could get it air tight or pretty close if you wanted. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great food, big difference in the itch factor! My puppy has a sensitivity to chicken, as I discovered with the intense itchiness she had after eating anything containing chicken through a process of elimination. Since she is old enough to start on adult food, I looked into Orijen's adult food offerings. Thankfully they offer 2 options that do not contain chicken. I ordered a bag of the fish and a bag of the regional red. I haven't tried the regional red, but the fish was a big hit with my puppy. She refused to eat her prescription kibble as I started transitioning her to the adult food (she ate the Orijen and spit out the prescription food), but she had zero GI issues, so I transitioned her in less than a week's time. The food does have a distinct smell which is a bit off-putting to me, however my puppy loves it and it doesn't linger too long. I've now transitioned her to a 50-50 mixture with fresh food and she inhales it in 5 minutes or less. She's no longer itchy and her coat is super soft, it's made a noticeable difference, thanks Orijen! July 23, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good for allergies, easily digestible I switched to this food as it has none of the ingredients that might provoke allergies in my most sensitive dog. All of my dogs liked this food immediately. Yes, the food is "aromatic," but I take the aroma as a sign of freshness and the dogs are attracted to the strong food smells. My small-medium breed dogs have not been as gassy on this food and have transitioned well with good stools. Since this food is high in protein, I might occasionally add a bit of fresh fruit like blueberries, or some cooked green beans, etc. However, since the protein source is (six) fish, I feel it is healthy and easily digestible. Based on these things, I highly recommend Orijen Six Fish Grain-Free. October 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best food for my Newf! This dog food is the highest quality kibble available! After just the first bowl I was convinced! The kibble is very rich, contains high quality sources of fish. No by-products or fillers. I bought this food for my dog who is allergic to all poultry. I set this food out in one bowl & put Acana in another (Acana is made by the same co & is a good food too) He immediately went for the Orijen! He is a very picky eater & he gobbled this right up! Also I may point out that he eats WAY less on this than on cheaper kibble. Cheaper kibble he would eat about 6-8cups/day on Orijen he only eats about 3.5cups/day & is NOT hungry! And he has stopped begging for people food. Consider this when contemplating the cost. I alternate depending upon my budget bc this food is expensive. Acana is good as well as Castor & Pollux, both less expensive alternatives. But you get what you pay for with this--excellent product! August 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great food. We choose this dog food for our pug who has skin problems--perhaps a yeast overgrowth. She was itching almost constantly and was getting worse. We were already feeding her a grain-free food high in fish. However, we switched to Orijen and in around 7 days I could see a difference! Her itching decrease and her skin began clearing from the dark areas. Now she is almost itch-free, skin continues to improve, coat looks better, skin on face better. This is a high-quality food--probably one of the best dry foods. October 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by credit for dog food I was very pleased that I was able to get a credit for the dog food that didn't agree with my daughters dog. A replacement was sent real quick and this dog food is working great Christine's dog (Royal) is gaining weight and the skin condition is going away so I'm very pleased That this food is working October 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Food Quality, a little stinky My dog really enjoys this food he is not overly picky but he was preferentially eating this food over his previous one when I had transitioned him into the new food. The bag of food came vacuum sealed but loosened up once I opened it up. The food it a little stinky, I think that might be what my dog likes about it. October 26, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by My three ShihTzu's love it!! They had become finicky with their Regioal Red so I mixed in the 6 fish & they love it!! October 26, 2016
