Freeze-Dried, Full of Nutrients

Dogs and cats are built like their ancestors, and that's why all of Orijen's recipes are based on five biologically appropriate principles. They start with a variety of unmatched fresh meat inclusions that are rich in protein. Orijen includes whole prey ratios that naturally provide the nutrients your dog needs. Carbs are limited, but there are plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and cleansing botanicals.

Orijen Dry Dog Food

Just Add Water

Now your dog can enjoy the texture, flavor and nutritional benefits of raw food without any of the mess or preparation. For your dog to enjoy Orijen's amazing fresh food flavors to the fullest, rehydrate freeze-dried foods by adding 1/4 cup (4 tbsp.) of warm water per medallion. Wait 3 to 6 minutes, then serve.

Whole Prey Foods

In the wild, dogs consume the whole animal to meet their full dietary needs, so Orijen recipes incorporate three whole prey elements in specific ratios.

  • Meat (70−85%) High meat inclusion means all amino acids are provided in natural form, without any synthetic supplements.
  • Edible Bone (5−10%) Bone, marrow and cartilage provide calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin without any artificial additives.
  • Organ Meat (10−15%) Fresh liver and tripe are richly nourishing sources of vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B and D.

Quality, Sustainable Ingredients

Orijen believes you have a right to know where the ingredients in your dog's food come from. From nest-laid eggs and wild northern pike to juicy orchard-grown apples and crisp garden greens, each ingredient is sourced from local producers they know and trust.

About Orijen

Orijen products are created by Champion Petfoods, an award-winning pet food maker whose mission is to make biologically appropriate dog and cat foods from fresh regional ingredients. My little 11 pound terrier mix doesn't seem to care if she eats or not. Sometimes rescue dogs have issues. Now she sits by the door to the kitchen and watches me prepare her food. And, when I say "okay" she doesn't need any further coaxing. I mix one round patty with her other food.

  • What a great additive to my fur-baby's kibble!

So Dante my ten-year-old Rhodesian mix, really loved the Nature's Logic Turkey flavor kibble for the first 3/4 of the bag, after a while, he got tired of it (he's a chicken and salmon type of dog). To entice him I bought Orijen's freeze-dried dog food and crumbled a patty and a half in his food. Once I gave him the food he couldn't wait to dig into! I feel safe giving him Orijen's because their ingredients are wholesome and I trust the company. I would probably buy their kibble if it weren't so expensive >.<

This makes feeding my dogs easy if they are being cared for by a sitter. I have not used it rehydrated, only dry over their food and have never had any of my three dogs leave their food. 75 kcals per patty so be sure to cut back on your regular food when using as an enticement.

Wanted to try something new for my dogs who are incredibly picky and wanted the best. Checked out the various 5 star brands and chose Orijen based on various criteria, local products, small batches, reputation. I can happily report that my snobs, LOVE the food. Very satisfied with Chewy as well. Very fast delivery. Thank you very much.

  • Dogs love it, easy to use

    By on

Although I thought I was ordering Adult Dog kibble (exact same packaging), this product is great for using as a topper on the kibble. The product is pricey though. FYI Adult Dog kibble is now called Original. Orijen/Acana changed their plant location, formulas and names of their products.

  • Loves it!

My 15 month old Australian Labradoodle loves this new flavor. I highly recommend it. She's been eating the Orijen brand since she was 3 months old, both kibble and freeze dried. I rotate flavors constantly. She is healthy, her coat is soft and shiny and best of all she outruns every dog at the dog park. Her stamina is something that people talk about when they see her running!

  • Stale product

    By on

When comparing this bag purchased from Chewy verses a local retailer, the bag from Chewy was stale. I am paying for a high quality food and I expect it to be fresh. I'm very undecided if I would purchase it from Chewy in the future.

this product is theeee only dog food made at this company... therefore...there is no...cross contamination in food processing like other manufacturers and also my little fur baby just loves the natural ingredients in both the hard and freeze dried food

  • Fussy Eater

The food may be good for some but my fussy eater wouldn't touch it. I even tried hydrating it with beef bone broth - no go. Now I have to find a home for a very expensive version of the food.

  • FABULOUS RECOMMENDATION!

    By on

Our Lucy is getting pickier and pickier so I did a "chat" with Chewy. They recommended this food, ordered a small bag and am now waiting for the larger bag to arrive. She LOVED it! Of course, I am now making chicken livers with peas, the dry stuff is on the top!
