Freeze-Dried, Full of Nutrients

Dogs and cats are built like their ancestors, and that's why all of Orijen's recipes are based on five biologically appropriate principles. They start with a variety of unmatched fresh meat inclusions that are rich in protein. Orijen includes whole prey ratios that naturally provide the nutrients your dog needs. Carbs are limited, but there are plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and cleansing botanicals.

Orijen Dry Dog Food

Just Add Water

Now your dog can enjoy the texture, flavor and nutritional benefits of raw food without any of the mess or preparation. For your dog to enjoy Orijen's amazing fresh food flavors to the fullest, rehydrate freeze-dried foods by adding 1/4 cup (4 tbsp.) of warm water per medallion. Wait 3 to 6 minutes, then serve.

Whole Prey Foods

In the wild, dogs consume the whole animal to meet their full dietary needs, so Orijen recipes incorporate three whole prey elements in specific ratios.

  • Meat (70−85%) High meat inclusion means all amino acids are provided in natural form, without any synthetic supplements.
  • Edible Bone (5−10%) Bone, marrow and cartilage provide calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin without any artificial additives.
  • Organ Meat (10−15%) Fresh liver and tripe are richly nourishing sources of vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B and D.

Quality, Sustainable Ingredients

Orijen believes you have a right to know where the ingredients in your dog's food come from. From nest-laid eggs and wild northern pike to juicy orchard-grown apples and crisp garden greens, each ingredient is sourced from local producers they know and trust.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 78 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Palatable Our picky eater dog seems to enjoy this over some of the other dry & rehydrate foods available. October 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Yum Yum Our dogs love the Orijen...we don't give as food, rather than a treat. It is loved, clearly! October 18, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Healthy food My dog is for obedience, rally and other dog sports, so I need the best food possible for him and easy for me. Wish it came in a larger bag and was a little less expensive but I do supplement with Acana dry kibble September 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The food is made with ultra healthy ingredients Well you may not like this review. So far we can't get our 10 1/2 year old Maltese to eat this food. His brother died a little over a year ago, and after that he wouldn't eat at all. Our vet finally gave us a recipe to make dog food from rice, bone meal, oil, chicken, broccoli, salt, and powdered vitamins. So that is what we had fed him since his brother died. We wanted to get him on a dog food that has a multitude of nutrients in it so we ordered the Champion dog food after being told about it from a Maltese breeder. We are going to give it a try for a little longer, but if we can't get him to eat it we are going to have to send it back. He likes the treats, but we haven't opened the freeze dried champion food we ordered because he hasn't eaten the dry food yet. We tried moistening it, but he isn't going for it. We are really hoping that within the next few days that he will eat it, but it isn't looking promising. January 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just get it! Your dog will love you for getting these. My puggle is on a weight loss program with these AND he is a historically a picky eater in the mornings. However with these, he gladly eats his morning meal before our walk. I like that I can actually smell the liver (sort of) in this, which I guess some folks may not like. The Adult Dog version is a bit crumbly though, which makes it more difficult to portion out. I wonder if the Six Fish or Regional Red is the same way. Besides that, this has been a game changer in the way my dog poops (less). July 28, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Freeze dry? Guess I didn't understand what freeze dry meant? They were not what I expected? I expected something like dry dog food in small giblet form. July 11, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by My dogs love it! The excellent nutritional content of Orijen freeze-dried, and the fact that my dogs go absolutely crazy when I give it to them is why I rate this product 5 stars. They even lick the bowl for minutes after every visible spec is gone! I feed them mostly frozen raw in the winter but have had a few melt downs in warmer weather. This is a great solution to that problem I am a fan. June 1, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Re-hydration required and portion size appears smaller My 22lb Terrier eats anything put in his bowl. I gave him 2-1/2 - 3 'medallions' of this food crumbled and re hydrated with 1/3 cup of warm water. The portion looked like less than I would normally feed him. I added about 4 oz of good quality kibble, plus a 1/2 teaspoon of fish oil. He's eaten this for two weeks and is quite happy, although he is drinking more than he did when being fed my home-made dog food. My main concern with this freeze-dried food is the cost. At 16 oz per bag listed at $37.19, it is too expensive to sustain feeding this food. Secondly, I believe that the manufacturer unrealistically states the amount required for an adequate meal for my dog. I value the alleged high quality ingredients, the 'paleo' approach, and the attention to the balance of nutrients, but I will continue looking for an affordable alternative. February 13, 2015
