Biologically Appropriate Commitment

Dogs and cats are built like their ancestors, and that's why all of Orijen's recipes are based on five biologically appropriate principles. They start with a variety of unmatched fresh meat inclusions that are rich in protein. Orijen includes whole prey ratios that naturally provide the nutrients your dog needs. Carbs are limited, but there are plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and cleansing botanicals.

Orijen Dry Dog Food

Whole Prey Foods

In the wild, dogs consume the whole animal to meet their full dietary needs, so Orijen recipes incorporate three whole prey elements in specific ratios.

  • Meat (70−85%) High meat inclusion means all amino acids are provided in natural form, without any synthetic supplements.
  • Edible Bone (5−10%) Bone, marrow and cartilage provide calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin without any artificial additives.
  • Organ Meat (10−15%) Fresh liver and tripe are richly nourishing sources of vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B and D.

Quality, Sustainable Ingredients

Orijen believes you have a right to know where the ingredients in your dog's food come from. From nest-laid eggs and wild northern pike to juicy orchard-grown apples and crisp garden greens, each ingredient is sourced from local producers they know and trust.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Very good for this picky eater My rottweiler is 1.5yes old now and his entire life I've been trying to find something that he'd not only be eager to eat but that would agree with his stomach. I've tried food for sensitive stomachs which worked great until he just stopped eating it randomly. I mixed this food in with his old food and ran out of his old food before the 14 day transition period. His poop was like soft served ice cream for 4 days before it started firming up. He's almost 100% now and he's so eager to eat now, powering through meals without stopping. The ingredients in this food are great! I didn't realize how many good things were in this dog food until I got it home. I've heard great things about this brand and it's the only one for my pet and I that's stayed true to the reviews. For those who are thinking it's pricey, it's worth it. I try to feed my rotti the best food and this is definitely amongst the best brands in the world. Hopefully as time passes I can say this was the only food I fed my dog since he was 1.5yrs old. August 2, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great food until they switched to the US Kentucky plant My puppy LOVED the original large breed puppy food that came from Canada but now that they switched to the US Kentucky plant, he won't eat it well at all. I have to put treats or human food in it now to get him to eat. It's too expensive for that. I have no idea why they change a good thing if it's not broke. Now it broken, for my pup at least. I give the Canadian brand a 5 star & the Kentucky brand a 1 star. So I went with 3 star. Wish they'd allow us to purchase from whichever plant we wanted. Because I've heard others are not having an issue with the switch. But my pup hates the new stuff. (Spoiled from the good stuff, I guess) Now I need to find a new brand of food. Boo!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 by Simply the best! I switched my dogs over to Orijen puppy from another really good grain free puppy food. They all of a sudden just stopped eating the other brand. I don't know if I got a bad bag or what, but I wasn't going back to it. I picked up Orijen puppy and these guys devour their bowls. I mean they lick them clean! I mix high quality raw beef and chicken with Orijen in the morning and at night it's all Orijen. We show our dogs and their coats are super shiny. Does Orijen help? Well our male placed first three times this past weekend. And our female grabbed two 2nd places and a third! Extremely happy with this food. Yeah it's pricey, but keeps our dogs one step ahead of the other dogs in the ring! Highly recommend this food to anyone on the fence thinking is it worth it. October 6, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Product This is my first time trying Orijen. I think the ingredients are outstanding. The food is very fresh and dense, so dense that it doesnt even soak up water very well. (I add water to all my dogs food) My pup seems to really love this food. The kibble is softer then other dry foods, and is easier for a puppy to chew....with water or without. My only complaint is that his stools are not firm like I thought they would be on this food. They are formed, but really soft and a bit mushy, they definitely leave a mark on the carpet :) No clean "pick up" here. But I still think its a great food. But as great as it may be, its really pricey for most people to be able to afford....and thats a shame. October 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product, puppy loves it! I've been having issues with my puppy's stool since I brought him 3 months ago. His food was changed twice to no avail. Once I run out of his current food, I took the band-aid approach and started him on this new food right away. Within days I noticed a huge change in his stool's consistency, color and frequency. I owe a huge thanks to getting my puppy on the right track! October 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth every penny I've been buying Orijen for my huskies since they were 6 weeks and they LOVE it. Recently I had to switch them to Purina then another high quality brand since Orijen was getting a bit pricey but they would not eat it so I thought they were getting sick or something I switched them back to Orijen and they eat it all right away. I was told by the vet that the "best" puppy food was Purina puppy chow since apparently Orijen has a lot of protein so i decided to try it out but I noticed that they would shed a lot more than the usual and their fur did not look that great like it did before though I didn't think the food had to do anything with it but I was wrong. I understand that huskies shed but normally my oldest sheds but not as much that is not noticeable unless you pet him you can really see it since a bunch of hair comes out luckily since I switched them back the fur started to look better again and the shedding is not as bad as it used to be. Orijen might be a bit expensive but honestly it is worth it, if you want to give your puppy good food then definitely try it out. August 1, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great food Great product. All of the other puppy food are very small kibble. This kibble is the perfect size for my 5 month old Newfie. October 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by My Vizsla puppy loves it! I gradually introduced my 7 month old Vizsla puppy to Orijen to make sure there were no adverse digestive reactions. She loves it. No problems at all for her. The larger kibble size forces her to chew her food instead of just inhaling it in seconds. Very pleased! October 12, 2016
